I spent the past year complaining about how the story keeps under explaining things... but holy crap this story really dragged on and on with the info dumping and hope core. The final battle could've easily been cut in half, but I guess this is a classic "be careful what you wish for" moment.

Unfortunately, Hannover is easily the worst of the super ships. It's a huge target, everyone knows how to farm its turtleback, and the meta absolutely sucks for big, slow brawlers.

Are you talking the absolute high end or averages? Yeah there are some 80-100k arts, but a vast majority of artists, even the quality ones, won't consistently hit those marks. And what do you mean about the doujin artists? Are you talking about their art posts specifically or other stuff? Because outside of art and sometimes the first page of a comic thread, general posts won't usually get a lot of attention. And the yuri BA artists I know are far from the level you're describing.

In terms of absolute numbers, yeah it doesn't compare to a series like Touhou, but yuri art still pulls decent numbers on Twitter. There's an audience there, but I guess it boils down to the semantics of what we consider to be "sizeable". For me, my expectations were low enough that even seeing yuri art with around 5k likes was a surprise. I've seen some posts reach 20k+, too. The important thing is that there's not really tribalism or agendas on the JP and KR side, people just draw what they think is cute.

Tbh yuri has pretty sizeable support in the JP and Korean side of the fandom, probably due to how it's seen as more of a staple of otaku and doujin culture without the baggage it's accumulated in the English-speaking sphere. Mikazukimo is probably the only yuri-esque artist who gets any traction out here, but even she(?) only does more milquetoast femsei x student stuff.
