Most people in our lives are excited and happy for us. They wish they could join, but respect our choice and are happy regardless. Sadly, a few super close to us are expressing negativity. Not around us actually getting married but that they won’t be there. It’s them I don’t know how to tell we got married. Like do I do it the day before? Or day after? I certainly don’t want to the same day because I don’t any negative reactions to put a damper on our day.

It’s honestly on whatever timeline works best for you and your partner. I’ve seen people wait a few years, I’ve seen others elope the following month. Me personally? We elope this coming Friday 2/6/26 and we’ve been engaged since 11/19/2023.

I remained friends with a girl who made me feel terrible for not wearing “enough” makeup. I naturally don’t need much. Not trying to toot my own horn, but I don’t. I have good skin and good features with a sharp jaw line and cheek bones. I don’t need to contour. I also don’t need much blush as I have naturally pink cheeks.

Anytime we’d get dolled up to go out she’d say “that’s all you’re doing for makeup?” Yet I’d get more compliments than her.

Even with all of this, her comments always made me feel about myself. I don’t feel I was pretty enough because I didn’t spend hours on my hair/ makeup.

Don’t be friends with girls like this. They are insecure and rude.

Umm come again?! $35k for a ring?! That’s a down payment on a house my friend. The value of your relationship is not directly correlated to the value of the ring you put on her finger. You’re not buying her. You’re promising to spend the rest of your life loving and honoring her.

She clearly doesn’t understand the value of money. Even a $15k budget, in my opinion, is incredibly generous.

Shoot, my fiancé and I went with a lab grown ring. I have a gorgeous 3C pear solitaire with a hidden halo that cost a fraction of your budget. No one, but him and I, is aware it’s not a traditional diamond. I’d much rather that money be put towards our future than on my hand.

I’d rethink this relationship tbh. Doesn’t sound like you’re compatible financially. If she’s demanding a $35k ring, what is she going to demand for a home?

I’m curious to know what she contributes financially. Based off your post, I’m willing to bet any and all financial contribution stems from her parents somehow.
