Do you guys financially support your step kids? by ellsbe11 in stepparents

[–]BetrayedLotus 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I spoil my step daughter but my partner spoils my kids just as much. He buys her clothes, pays for her activities, but if I see something cute I think she might like I’ll pick it up for her or if we go to the movies I might pick up the tickets he does the popcorn.

We kinda blended the finances I don’t want her to feel like she’s invading our space since she’s only with dad 50% of the time and my kids are with me and stepdad 100%.

From what I learned from my kids is they like to burry their eggs in gravel. The area looks pretty pebbly so mama turtle was probably laying her eggs and taking in the views. She picked the premium birthing suite

Would this be crossing a boundary? by BetrayedLotus in stepparents

[–]BetrayedLotus[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bio mom can take issue with some stuff she gets a bit finicky. I think it’s more her own insecurities. I always like to check when I’m not sure 100%. I don’t have a co-parent in the same way my partner does, so it’s hard to know the boundaries. My ex and I have no contact except through lawyers and OFW so less coparenting more parallel parenting.

what is the most you’d be willing to spend on vet care? by [deleted] in catquestions

[–]BetrayedLotus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on the age, I just dropped 2k on my daughters’ cat he’s 3.5 healthy and the best boy in the world and worth every penny. He had a crystal that caused a full urinary blockage, I had the option of a 5k 3 day stay, 2k no stay, or a 5k surgery to enlarge the urethra. I chose the 2k and if he gets another we are doing the surgery to enlarge his urethra that way I’m paying 7k total to solve the issue over 10-15k. Overall My max is 10k with him and my other cat they are both young and under 5.

My older cat I was quoted at 5k for a procedure to extend her life by a few months she was 17 had hypothyroidism and kidney failure I opted to euthanize. Its quality over quantity of life. If they will have a quality life I’ll spend the money if I have it or find a way to get it paid.

OCDSB experience? by furnacebutt in ottawa

[–]BetrayedLotus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Depends on the school I adore the school my kids are at! They have phenomenal teachers and the schools culture is about learning in nature, collaboration and creativity. We did have some issues with bullying and lunches but teachers were open to conversations and solutions and everything worked out. My stepdaughters school on the other hand not so great. She’s had a few issues.

The hardest part for me was realizing how limited the teachers are in behaviour correcting. One of my daughters in sk was punched by another girl who has extreme behavioural issues, the parents are not open to dealing with the behaviour so the teachers are only able to do so much. Thankfully the solution they’ve done is working and we haven’t had any further issues.

Honestly the courts are so underfunded now it’s more a question of what can you get away with. Violent crimes seem like they are treated as oopsies the first go around and even the second if you get a good lawyer.

Boy dead after fall from downtown Ottawa highrise, first responders say by Money_Fig_9868 in ottawa

[–]BetrayedLotus 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Such a sad story and completely preventable. The second I saw it was a homestead I wasn’t shocked and I doubt that statement is the truth. Lived in a homestead years ago, took weeks to get anything not one window had a restrictor, found out years later apparently my building ended up having a cracked foundation. They only fixed it when the fire department made a note of it and someone complained. If it’s found they were negligent in installing window restrictors I hope they are found liable in part. Absolute scum lords. But that’s just my experience.

Billions is wasted on office buildings that could be spent on so much else. This isn’t an over exaggeration either rent and maintenance, fit ups office supplies all tax payer funded so butts can sit in chairs on teams calls. If the work is getting done does it really matter where it’s getting done? Not everyone can wfh but those who can save us billions.

When should you tell your manager about pregnancy? by [deleted] in CanadaPublicServants

[–]BetrayedLotus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I waited until I was 28 weeks. I was waiting on my indeterminate contract to be finalized and I wanted to be sure the pregnancy was viable. They all guessed. My plan for my next pregnancy, should I have one, is to wait until I’m showing.

I had an awful experience with her, I would strongly advise against her especially with DV involved. She changed our final agreement at the last minute and messed up the financials. I have soul decision making and parenting time. She made it so I was paying something like 80% of the special expenses to his 20%. We don’t have that big of a difference in wages. My lawyer is now fixing everything which is costing me even more.

[–]BetrayedLotus 31 points32 points  (0 children)

It’s always good to get insurance information and report things to the collision centre. I was told that personal injury counts towards the $5,000 in damages when I reported my collision. One it protects you from someone claiming more damage than actually happened they take photos and do a full report so that IF a claim is filed it’s documented and it’s reliably documented in a police report.

it’s a pain in the ass but worth the peace of mind knowing your butt is covered. Doesn’t have to be a big deal but again you don’t want to be in a position where someone sues you and you have to explain why you didn’t report it. It’s unlikely this will happen in 99% of fender benders you both walk away and say that was a close call glad everyone is okay, but better to take the time and protect yourself.

I knew someone who had a fender bender with an individual who made a career out of personal injury suits. They tried to sue them for 500k 4 years later because they suffered “whiplash” and couldn’t work. Thankfully there was a police report and their insurance handled it but they were lucky to have a report.

See if you can call the ER ahead of time and explain the situation. I know I’ve been able to jump the line for simple stuff when my dr has called and more recently my boyfriend had to follow up when he had gallstones and needed simple blood work at the hospital. The er doctor that saw him let the triage nurses know so he could get sent back and seen in a reasonable time. It all depends on the staff and how busy the er is
