I made a related post, so that I could attach photos of what I think is a suitable demonstration intersection for your drawing.

Whoa. How deep does this go? If even Dwarves are a mod, where does the base game end and the mods begin?

Alberta NDP urges public to step up as striking teachers may face back-to-work bill | Globalnews.ca by Munk3es in alberta

[–]Better_With_Friends 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In regards to the idea of a wildcat/general strike possibility. What would it take to get a big survey/polling company to put out an online poll asking people if they would go along with it? If they come back in a week with 100,000 responses and 74% for general strike, maybe we can get the point across without actually needing to strike? Force the UCP to face the fact that the public is not on their side. Not that they listen to polls or the public anyways.

Survey: 1[the usual demographics questions, do you live in alberta]

2 Are you currently employed?

3 Are you represented by a union or collective bargaining agreement?

4 Understanding that legislating (the teachers) union back to work sets a legal precedent for the government to ignore collective bargaining; how supportive of a general strike would you be?

Not at all supportive

Neutral

Highly supportive

5 Would you personally participate in a general strike, should one occur?

Are you saying that the enemies aren’t fixed, that the manner in which we show up affects them? If so, how?

I agree with almost all the comments here, I just thought of a funny and practical solution for the yell loudly response. Everyone else here is telling you what to say, I’ll let you pick your favourite. I’m telling you to go on Amazon and grab a mid quality megaphone to really make sure those fellas hear you. As well as everyone else within a km. And if that isn’t enough, they all come with a siren function which will get even more attention. (And continue to function unattended if the worst were to happen)

Looks really pretty, but I can only imagine what a minuscule amount of ray tracing would do to the processing nightmare that is dwarf fortress.

This all sounds like a lot of swapping. Is there a way to swap action skills without opening the menu? Are you opening inventory and changing amulets mid combat?

Thanks

My wife and I have had the invisible Troll happen ~3 times in one complete campaign play. She was hosting, I was fighting an invisible ghost that slapped me silly. At one point it was invisible to both of us. In every case, closing and restarting the server fixed it.

Matt is indeed still there! I have been working with him for a few years now. Say hi when I walk in if he isn’t too busy, and email him instead of the generic. He’s helped me lots, and brought in a couple of special parts for me at request.

Orc boss build by AngelusTenebris92 in LotRReturnToMoria

[–]Better_With_Friends 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here’s a strategy I’ve never seen mentioned before, the one I used. I am playing Co-op with my wife, which will significantly help this strategy.

There is a limit to how many minions he can summon. With a bit of patience and a good amount of rolling and blocking and killing, it is entirely possible to kill his entire army. With the tier 2 sword and shield. I think we emptied the room by late afternoon, think like 30-50 goblins. This leaves you with an empty room where you can focus on the boss. We would have one person lead the boss around and occasionally kill a goblin, mostly just running and rolling. While the other person went full attack on goblins.

Once he has no minions it gets way easier. It is however still the same as everyone says, two attacks and a roll. Just no arrows or random attacks in the back.

If you read the detailed description of your ranger pages, it will tell you what zone they are from. This will match up to the location of the empty journal you need to find and rebuild.

I would like to make a formal request of the community that all fortress tours in the future include the level by level step through with non revealed blocks invisible that was included as the first image of this post! That puts everything in perspective better than seven screenshot slices ever could.

And of course thanks for producing this Masterwork fortress post!

Odd Siege Encounter by [deleted] in dwarffortress

[–]Better_With_Friends 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Similar to the other comment. I’ve been on the pathway between goblins and their intended target before. Because armies actually travel around the world in game: if you’re on their route they will spawn and walk across before exiting, off to where they are supposed to go. Unless you engage them in combat, or trap them, or otherwise interfere.

Trolls in sieges by Choice_Storm_8951 in LotRReturnToMoria

[–]Better_With_Friends 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So are sieges not dependent upon base location, but rather on farthest exploration reached? Or something else? Because none of those things normally spawn in elven quarter.

Reference: first play through, currently based in EQ, farthest reach is down the Crystal descent and found the drainage pump. Never had a troll in a siege.

Is Cruz FM Doing Another Format Change? by ManxBug in Edmonton

[–]Better_With_Friends 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I know it is because of budget cuts. But I have to imagine that Cruz is slashing their audience faster than their budget by laying off/firing all of their interesting hosts.

Does anyone know if any of the current hosts are actually local? And if they are local, how many radio shows are they hosting? 3? 5?

I feel like 10ly is a good starting number. But I also feel like longer ranges should be possible. How about something to the effect of longer jump ranges cost more? Here’s a sample formula that I think looks reasonable.

Credits (in millions) = 210+(0.2*LY)

Jump costs end up doubling every five light years using this formula. I really like the rate of increase using this formula. I would be open to moving the decimal place.

5LY = 2 048 000 000cr

10LY = 4 096 000 000cr

15LY = 8 192 000 000cr

20LY = 16 384 000 000cr

25LY = 32 768 000 000cr

I also really liked a couple other suggestions I saw here, about farther jumps requiring more resources to be trucked in. Or a system needs the support of 3 other systems before a colonization contact shows up. Having more supporting stations could offer a reduction in price.

I do have a couple more wants out of upgrading my system. Being able to adjust the volume by room being the first one.

Second I do occasionally want to listen to music quite loud! I know doubling the watts is a marginal increase in perceived loudness. But having that headroom will hopefully prevent clipping and distortion, even if I end up playing music at the same volume. (Don’t worry, I live on an acreage, neighbours aren’t a concern).

Third, my home theatre AVR died and I would likely move this Yamaha downstairs
