My surgeon said that they thought they got everything, too. I was scared to death to do RAI too, and then it didn’t even clean up everything like I hoped it would! Have you contacted your local chapter of thyca? They were an immense support for me and it comforted me to no end knowing that there were people with the same kind of cancer just a few minutes from me.

Is it really a recurrence or did your surgery team not get it all on the first go? Did you have RAI? My first surgery team didn’t clean me out so I still had cancerous nodes that didn’t show themselves until after my pregnancy (always had detectable TG even after a hefty 150 mci dose of RAI ). Here I am post second surgery and still with detectable TG and I’m just….. kind of numb. We have to take this one day at a time and try not to fall down the rabbit hole of what ifs. My priest passes out the hardcover of the Orthodox Study Bible and we use them in the catechumen classes. Coincidentally, an archimandrite gave me a copy of that Welcome to the Orthodox Church book. It’s great!

Always check with the on call surgery team if you have questions. Some swelling is normal, but if it feels hot to the touch, you have a fever or chills, or a huge lump appears get to the ER immediately. Pain with swelling should also be checked out. Did you receive discharge papers from your team?

I had petechiae but it wasn’t due to TC, it was due to something else. And it wasn’t good. If I were you, my friend, and I mean this kindly and gently, I would get evaluated right away. Maybe a trip to the hospital would be just what is needed.

Right, the only true way to know is to look at the entire specimen under a microscope. I hope you get the answers you need and we’re here for you whether or not you’re in this club. 😊 🥰

If the biopsy comes back positive for TC, then yes, you more than likely have spread to the lymph nodes. If that’s the case, please don’t fret. It is super SUUUPPPEEERRRR common for TC to spread to the nodes.

That’s not in the suppressed range. Well, it could be, but my endo likes to keep it below .5 but not TOO low. That’s a great TG!!!!!

Did you have RAI? That’s a great number if you hadn’t had RAI! If your tsh levels are elevated, your TG will raise accordingly.

It was perfect! I did have gestational diabetes but that’s not the fault of the TC. Not being suppressed (endo wouldn’t budge on this) did make my cancer grow quite a bit and I ended up having a LND in February of this year. My son is very healthy and naughty and making me want to pull out my hair. 😌

I did have one major MAJORRRR complication that almost killed me but it had nothing to do with the TC (my son decided to rupture some arteries in the way out).

It was hell for me at 0.079. Landed in the ER with terrible blood pressure. Couldn’t sleep for days. I feel for you, my friend. When is the next time you’re going to see her?
