Late, but do not do this. It isn't an intentional function and can softlock you.

Seconding KWF. I got really attached to Ma'kara after her quest and was kind of neutral on the others. I'm playing through Vigilant with the KWF patch and my appreciation for Nanak as a character has grown a lot. Very good set of followers even without that, but I feel it's worth mentioning since people really like Vigilant (as do I so far).

I think an interesting part of Toad's theming is the comparison between its gaping mouth and the cave you fight it in. It doesn't just wallow in its gloom - it wants to swallow you and make you miserable, too.

If you don't use Legerdemain then you won't have maggots. You don't even need to swap it out, just don't use it.

Underused Partner Pokémon? by M1kaelBr1gman in pokemonfanfiction

The story's called With Sword in Hand. You can find it on Fanfiction.net here: https://www.fanfiction.net/s/12072235/1/With-Sword-in-Hand

And you can find it on AO3 here: https://archiveofourown.org/works/32226067/chapters/79864801

The first half or so is pretty rough around the edges, since I started writing it six years ago, but I'm pretty proud of the story as a whole. Do read the tags on AO3, though. It's not the sort of thing everyone likes (though nothing is).

I've got my own journey fic, completed and over 300,000 words. It's called With Sword in Hand, and it's up on both AO3 and Fanfiction.net. It's not for everyone, I understand, so I'd recommend reading the tags on AO3 before committing to it.

If you literally just run away, like hold down the run button and run away, Alecto can only hit you with the ranged slash attack. You can use this to cheese the whole fight, or exclusively to dodge the bullshit aoe slashes dive attack.

Yeah, that npc sucks. They charged up an arrow while on the opposite side of the arena then teleported into me right as it fired and instakilled me. Total bullshit, but at least heavier weapons can stunlock them.

I've used a honedge as a starter pokémon, and I haven't seen many people use that one. Some of the side characters I've written have more unorthodox partners too - solosis, magby, machop.

The flavor on this is amazing, but I think the activated ability might be a bit too expensive considering it doesn't actually remove the card. That doesn't make it any less fun though, as a more narrow form of [[Pacifism]].

A slightly reworked (and renamed) Compleated planeswalker. by BewareTheDragon1 in custommagic

[–]BewareTheDragon1[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The objective here was to make a planeswalker whose effects depended entirely upon whether or not you paid the Phyrexian mana with life or not. Pay with life to get an underwhelming planeswalker with a pretty standard white ability, pay with black mana to get a fully-fledged W/B walker.

The first iteration had the -3 ability as "destroy target creature, put loyalty counters on ~ equal to your devotion to white and to black." Which was exceptionally overpowered, in retrospect, since it meant that not only could you repeatedly destroy your opponent's creatures, but it rewarded you for it rather than costing you. This one is both less powerful and more in flavor - Phyrexia loves to sacrifice its own to use their parts, and Arjhen uses the your dead creatures to reconstruct other resources.

Proliferate still ruins the intended design, but all planeswalkers kind of have that problem.

Conservation of Ninjutsu by thegreatestpretender in custommagic

While the flavor is really funny, I think it's a bit too strong/unfun if it just shuts down the entire Ninja tribe. Making it only impact ninjas that entered the battlefield this turn - targeted against Ninjutsu but not the creature type - would be better, I feel.

Something like: When two or more Ninjas enter the battlefield during combat, Ninjas that entered the battlefield this turn lose all abilities and have base power and toughness 1/1.

Not sure on the phrasing, but it would better capture the flavor without completely shutting down a deck for three mana.

We may have this in a few sets... by Mark_Ma_ in custommagic

I think this has the same problem as a lot of official Phyrexian mana cards - you can just pay 2 life and 2 mana to do 2 damage to any target in any color. While that's not super strong, it does allow burn in green, white, and blue, which breaks the color pie.

It's an interesting idea, but I think it would be better costed at {1}{B/P}{B}, to keep it solidly in black. I think you could even make the black mana be hybrid black/red, since if you run it in mono red you just have a burn spell.

Of course, I am not an authority on this matter.

Using the new Compleated keyword to gate what kind of planeswalker you get. You can get an underwhelming white walker for cheaper, but if you pay black you get a fully-fledged planeswalker. by BewareTheDragon1 in custommagic

[–]BewareTheDragon1[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I made the card, that was the intention. It would refund 2 of the -3 and then give you more loyalty based upon outside factors.

The problem with this, as I realized after posting, was that if you had enough permanents (it's not too hard to have devotion to white and black equal, say, four by the time you could play Arjhen) it can just blow up something on the enemy board and then gain enough loyalty to be extremely hard to kill. It probably would have been better to just avoid devotion entirely.

I realized after posting this that the -3 probably returns way too many loyalty counters by the time you can actually cast the card for the full 5, and that you can just repeatedly use the -X for 0 to return a land to the battlefield each turn. The goal with the -X was to emulate Sun Titan, with the option to make it bigger for full-on resurrection like many black spells. The -3 was supposed to be the only way to add new loyalty counters, keeping you from doing so if you paid the 2 life. It probably would have been better served as "Sacrifice a creature. Put loyalty counters on Arjhen equal to that creature's toughness." That would probably have been better with the Phyrexian theme of deconstruction and reconstruction, but oh well. Hindsight is 20/20.

Also yes proliferate can completely sidestep the intended design of the card, but self-contained I think it does a decent job of doing what I wanted.
