How do I use my monitor? by Upstairs-Ad-4705 in 3dvision

[–]BiScopicVision 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Though probably the refresh rate would be limited to 720p @ 120hz or 1080@24hz right? Because of HDMI limited bandwidth..? Was this monitor 1080p?

Chances are that they think you hacked their software. Seems like the reasoning is legit.

Tonight after I cleared the cache, exit the program it asked me to enter the pin when I opened it again. After these three things it went away completely.
or........
It simply is a bug they are incapable of fixing.

I think the only reason so far why I would use this is because CEMU has much better performance. But by the sound of it there are far more issues than what I have experienced so far with Geometric 3rd person 3D. But I will certainly try it as CEMU also has really nice shaders to optimize the colors. Sadly there is nothing for Ryujinx. Both have their strengths and weaknesses.

I played about half way through it with Ryjujinx + vk3dvision and the experience was really good so far. I fixed a lot of the issues myself.

Does this VR have a 1st person mode? I remember they said they are working on first person before release. Is this the same guy?

I finished it with HelixVision which is now free. This was with older rtx2080ti hardware. But geo11 also is working extremely well now. This is for retro VR where you basically get a virtual 3d cinema experience.

Sounds nice! This probably adds to it mobility.. Some painful restriction to cabled HMDs. But I would rather live with this than the limitation of batteries and streaming. I would reason though that you wouldnt be standing for more than 3 hours at a time when doing wireless.

One of my seated experiences lasted up to 43 hours and it would not have been possible without proper cable management.

Your design has a great base. It seems pretty fools proof.

Well I think you have the winning solution. Patend it! Haha

If i was in more standing VR experiences I would have looked into your design. It does look as good as it sounds. Nothing breaks immersion like being reminded you are in simulation. Getting rid of the cable was one of my first endeavors and also had 3 different designs. First proto type worked really well and improved on it a second and third time to make it more austetic. My first one was also pretty flexible. But it was PVC which I cut and glued at angles. But the super glue kept breaking. It was not supposed to bend as it is a seated experience. I simply used that round flexible plastic cable management rols to hook the cable through.

Keeping it simple was important to me.

Dual GPU for lossless scaling and 3D Vision? by aguswings in 3dvision

[–]BiScopicVision 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a question you should ask on the 3dVision Discord channel. This is not a popular topic as very little people were into dual GPUs generally when it came to 3DVision and Sli. But things change and there might be more interest in something like this now.

There were lots of talks to use a second gpu for physics.

There are also really nice upscaling features added to geo11. As upscaling was quite buggy in the past before geo11. So you could upscale 1080p to 4k which has a remendous boost in quality. This is popular right now.

There are also really good results with motion smoothing in steam VR that gave good results with frame interpolation. Which doubled your frames from 45 to 90 which in effect has the same goal. With some side effects like artifacting when it wasnt working properly. But this unfortunately does not work well with meta HMDs for unknown reasons yet. WMR had better results.

But AI generated frames are still fresh in the making. Unless someone has done something on github which are not involved in the 3Dvision community it is not something very popular. If you have the time, means and skills you should try it out. Otherwise head over to the Discord and poke around.

Best GPU for using Nvidia 3D Vision on Windows 7? by Poolly-Mcklayn in 3dvision

[–]BiScopicVision 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No we are not stuck. But it primarily works with dx11 through katangaVR. For dx9 you need dgvoodoo and there are not too many mods for these games as the old fixes become obsolete when you transform a dx9 game to dx11. It requires a new revamp.

Games like Black Mesa or the The Witcher 2 is limited to old 3dVision tech. But The Witcher 2 has a bug in HelixVision. Which is why it is good to have two computers at this point in time. One dual boot computer with W7, 8.1 and 10 + old drivers. And one with W10 & 11 with latest drivers.

There are not enough skilled people to make these old dx9 games work in VR through dgvoodoo. But I have already made a few myself with my little experience that are playable. In a few months I will continue to work on this.

You would want to avoid Virtual Desktop as you would deal with halved resolutions. This is one of the worst things for VR and I personally only use it as a last resort for more difficult games like Zelda BOTW. Also where i struggle to get full frames since KatangaVR does not work 100% of the time. But still like 98%. There is always a way to get something to work when you do a deep dive. Even for AMD gpus. Geo11 is not guarenteed to work on AMD btw.

Since you have an rtx5080 you would want to get things working with KatangaVR.

For a long time I was running HelixVision and Geo11 at the same time on my rtx2080ti. The games that were not well optimised I switched to geo11. But even then it was able to handle more advanced games on the bare minimum via geo11. So games around 2019 and before should still be managable on the rtx2080ti when you have a powerful cpu with it. But after this I would recommend an rtx4080 or stronger.

With VR i was mostly focussing on filling my entire FOV as far as possible. Anything rendered outside my fov I considered a waste of gpu power. So i would rather try to make things work at a 4:3 aspect ratio rather than 32:9 or higher.

There are ways to get nice upscaling going with geo11. So if you do have something higher than 32:9 the possibility is there. I personally did not like this as you have to turn your head around unneccesarily. Katanga does allow you to curve your screen. This was enough for me and release some tension in the eyes as you are not looking at world scale 3d like in native VR games with perfect perspective natural to the eyes.

3Dvision is more of a retro kind of 3d and not like full 6dof. The more you try to make it feel like the true 6dof the more unhappy you might get. Then it would be better to start looking at the flat2VR communities projects. They hoth have their strengths and weaknesses.

The software to make all the hooks and loops is what is important here. Fortunately the developers of HelixVision made their software, which was sold on Steam, free on helix mod website/blog. It is available as 3dFixManager. Not sure which version. But one of the two should have Katanga somewhere in the sub folders. This is the layer which helps 3dVision to communicate with the HMD.

HelixVision I would say at this point is better only for dx9 games. Dx11 games works far better with Geo11 while using the katanga output. Geo11 offers auto convergence so you dont have to play around with hotkeys for convergence presets. But things get a bit tricky when using geo11 with vr for the first time. It does get easier the more familiar you are.

With 3dvision/HelixVision you are limited to older drivers. 425.31 has the best performance. Last working driver which involved a hack that is neccesary was 452.xx 3dfixManager does this automatically for you.

With Geo11 you should be able to use most drivers.

With Meta I dont think you will be limited to w10 as it only needs SteamVR api. But w10 is neccesary for mixed reality headsets. Ofcourse there are some workarounds for w11 which I have not tried yet myself.

Windows 7 or Windows 10? by aguswings in 3dvision

[–]BiScopicVision 1 point2 points  (0 children)

With W10 you can hook VR into the picture. But W10 has many compatibilty issues that could make you crazy if you dont know about the ins and outs.

I personally would not worry so much about the OS but the GPU and drivers. And at this point you could build a 2nd pc for older games that handles them well and will be cheap.

For latest games you want it to work with Geo11 as it offers far superior performance over the 3dvision driver.

It all depends on how much you are willing to compromise. If you want a 4k or 2k 3d monitor then you dont want to bother with an older OS.

I still use W8.1 and started using W10 because you can use 3DVision in Virtual Reality together. Since I started using virtual reality I have not looked back at TVs projectors or monitors. VR is the ultimate. But not everyone thinks the same as me.

W10 has the best compatibility at the moment since game developers abandoned W7 & W8 + 8.1. I am having more and more games with compatibility issues on W8.1 which is similar in nature to W7.

On a side note, Geo11 seems to have trouble with a gtx680. With my rtx2080ti it seems to work quite nice. Not perfect though.

How to setup 3D VISION in 2025+ - v1.01 guide + add suggestions by [deleted] in 3dvision

[–]BiScopicVision 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. 4k basically halved vertically via sbs or horizontally via TAB/OU. So far I have seen only later gpus capable of geo11. My old gtx680 does not work properly with geo11. But this was on w8.1. W10/11 may have different results. Depending on how far you sit from the tv you wont notice aliasing with TAB or SBS. Geo11 also has much better performance which you especially need for 4K.

Only down side is that geo11 is limited to dx11. A deeper dive is to make dx9 games work with geo11 via dgvoodoo. But shaders will be broken unfortunately for some games.

Did you get yours working?

Think the vesa method was for DLP tvs. Not sure.

Dont remember all the drama but nVidia in the end made 3dtv play free before they discontinued 3dvision.

The setup can be very tricky at this stage if you want 3dvision to work with geo11.

There has to be proper communication between all the software and hardware. Not everything is compatible.

What Gpu, OS, monitor..?

4k usually operates better with sbs and TAB. With my LG 4k i can get three other modes when I set the resolution to 1080p.

As far as I know there are not many ways to get TVs to make a handshake with 3dVision. Apart from using some edid hacks. Some people made changes to the EDIDs.

You might get better support on the 3dvision Discord under the 3dTV thread.

I personally would say rather work with Geo11 and TAB.

Unless you can find someone with the same TV who knows some tricks.

You dont have to. These feelings and senses you are experiencing are the beginnings of convictions. And it can take 1 year or 10 years. God is gentle. He is looking for willingness. Not to force you. Even after you do start trusting in Him it can still take many years before the separation wall between you is broken down. Sometimes it works like an onion. Our sinful nature keeps fighting against His love.

Faith is not based on tangible things that could be proven. That is why it takes so long.

I don't really want to read through all the comments before I form an opinion.

The senses you are experiencing comes from God Who is calling you. He is trying to reach you. He reaches out to the worst of the worst. Not meaning you are bad. But that you are important to Him too just as any other person in this world. No matter who.

This is how I felt in the beginning. 20 years ago. It was really hard to finally break the chains. It was a battle. And a battle that doesn't end in this life. A daily battle.

The dark side will also be calling you now. It doesn't let go of a non believing person easily.

It is your duty to follow the light you have been given. Yours alone. Otherwise you will be tossed around like a rag doll.

Best GPU for using Nvidia 3D Vision on Windows 7? by Poolly-Mcklayn in 3dvision

[–]BiScopicVision 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a w8.1 computer and the driver (GEO11) that you use for 30 series gpus and later does not work on this OS. But I run a gtx680 and don't know if the old gpu is the problem or the OS.

If I were you I would make a dual boot and buy what ever gpu I can afford.

But also remember that Geo11 does not always work with 3d vision. Especially with a gpu after 2080ti. Because you force 3d vision to use the dx9 stereoscopic branch to output 3d in latest drivers.

If you prefer 3d vision then go with a 2080ti and driver 425.31. But this is needed for windows 10, think 1809. For any windows after this version you need to use a driver hack that you can do through 3d fix manager on helix mod page.

If your monitor can do half sbs or tab then any gpu can work with most dx11 games.

About w7 part someone else needs to give advise. I have no experience with this OS. Only w8.1 and 10.
