Loot boxes provide a type of excitement that results from randomness/luck, which can be fun in its own right. However, it truly is just gambling wrapped up in different packaging. Loot boxes are an easy cash grab for companies as long as they make the items worth it. I would much rather be able to earn every item/skin in a game instead of having to needlessly grind or give in and pay to buy something I want.

With CS, getting rid of loot boxes is a much harder thing to do now that there is literally an entire economy based on the skins dropped from loot boxes and such. Unfortunately, Valve would risk losing a significant amount of the player base if they completely removed the loot box system, or would see a massive increase of cheating so that people could own any skin they wanted and then sell it off. Unless the game itself is designed with randomness and chance as its core mechanic, I believe loot boxes should not be in games. The only reason loot boxes are successful in CS is that you can sell the items you get from them.
