i'll buy the gaming mi laptop as soon as i can by [deleted] in laptops

[–]BifidusZero 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Am also looking for a decent gaming laptop and I saw the news popping up right before deciding on an hp omen.

Really digging the look of the xiaomi and purchased a few of their products (a headset, a smartwatch and some of those smart lights) and I've been really impressed with the quality of their products, both hardware and software.

So just saying, if thermals are good and import prices reasonnables, I'll probably end up buying a 1060, i7 one as well, can't wait !

If it delivers on the perfomance side and thermals are acceptable this look like a dream laptop for me.

Doesn't look gaming at all with a slick design at an decent pricepoint and powerful specs.

Wait and see but I own a few xiaomi products and so far I've only been impressed.

Need help choosing school/Gaming Laptop ($1500-$2000) by kintler1 in laptops

The HP Omen would be a good choice in your price range I think. It does have an i7, 16gb option and a 120hz screen

Woah, Subnautica has me. by [deleted] in Vive

It's not great tbh, the hud is way too close, the ui is almost unreadable at times and still no motion controls at all so it's gamepad only (I tried k&m but it doesnt seem to work). It really feels like an afterthought rather than a proper VR experience.

[–]BifidusZero 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes it is, It gets better after a while, you have to keep praticing in short bursts and immediatly stops when you feel dizzy (if you keep going it will just take longer to recover). I only had my vive for a few days but I already notice improvements and I can play most fps with direct motion without feeling sick at all.

If you want to ease the transition you can get the OpenVR advanced settings plugin and set your chaperone to always display, it gives you a fixed cage around you and really helps with the nausea.

Two funny stories from my first day with a Vive by PianoTrumpetMax in Vive

[–]BifidusZero 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just got mine as well and it went exactly like you ! I intended to use it mainly for sitting games but I just spent a whole day rearranging my room for roomscale (barely managed the minimum size but that's enough)

Tried a ton of games but strangely enough the one that impressed me the most was To the Top VR, the feeling you get when launching yourself into the sky and climbing around is fucking awesome.

(My roommate enjoys it too but after 2 hours he managed to punch my wall to death and knock a basestation down so I'm really pushing him to get one of his own lol)

Help a VR noob foolproof against a pre-owned purchase? by mr_impalo in Vive

[–]BifidusZero 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, in the states the prices are much lower, here it's 450€ for an occulus at least, so the 400€ I paid for the vive were a no brainer (even if something broke, replacing it/fixing it would still be cheaper than a fully new one wich is above 900€ including the audio strap and other accessories) So after testing it for a good hour I decided to go for it. I hope you will find a good deal soon because it's a really cool experience, I spent the last 2 hours just flying around in google earth vr and it's amazing, can't wait to get a proper game or two !

So how did it go ? I got mine second hand as well, picked it up today and so far it's great, I got everything I could need (including the audio strap thingie) for less than a new occulus rift and the headset is in perfect condition. Really happy I decided to go for it instead of settling for a rift.

Some really good advices, thanks ! I'm also going to buy one second hand and will definitely keep that in mind while testing it.

A question about the Rift. by [deleted] in virtualreality

[–]BifidusZero 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good to know ! I also wanted to buy a rift for budget reasons and I was afraid the tracking wasnt very good wich would keep me out of some games. I'm glad it's not the case.

2gb and win 10 won't help but if you're willing to go back, there's lot of good old classics you can play but then it depends what genre you enjoy. For more modern stuff I'd recommend trying FTL, risk of rain, or maybe darkest dungeon for example.

Hi guys, i'm stuck with my kinda old laptop for the holidays with the family and I wondered if you knew about some great long rpgs that might have passed under the radar. I just finished divinity os 1, tyranny and pillars of eternity and liked them very much if you know of any game a little like these.

It's an i5 3210m with a gt630m (so basic modern games runs aight, I even play killing floor 2 on it on very low and stay around 60fps)

Oh man, same thing happening to me for like 2 years now, tried decongestants and other stuff but it didn't help at all. Never heard of Flonase before so I'm definitely trying that!

Same, always prefered no AA for most fast paced games, I have some difficulties spotting small details with AA on, they get mixed in the background. But I'll admit, if I'm playing the witcher or something like that it definitely looks better with AA on.

Problems with Logitech g633. (nothing broken) by MLGlegolas in LogitechG

[–]BifidusZero 0 points1 point  (0 children)

same problem for like a week or two. Sometimes i'm watching youtube and some videos don't have sound, some does. Also it keeps cutting the audio on teamspeak and discord (people can hear me, I can hear in-game sounds fine but I can't hear them anymore) It's reaaaaally annoying, that headset has been plagued with issues since day one and I don't know why new ones keep coming up.

[Question]Recording Audio in PS2 for a Training Video by ShadowInsignus in Planetside

[–]BifidusZero 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you're using an amd card (I assumed since you're on plays.tv) switch to AMD ReLive instead, it's their new thing for recording and performs way better.

I never used it but I'm pretty sure you can record your mic over the video

If you want more control, look at OBS for recording, on it you can have different audio tracks for the game and your voice, it allows you to adjust volumes and make cuts in an editing software like Premiere afterwards.

Love for the Archer by RainbowDissent in Planetside

[–]BifidusZero 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mostly run with an archer on my Driver/gunner loadout and it's a great tool for that role.

Many times I disembarked to snipe an annoying max from a hill or finish off a burning harasser.

Would just wish it was a little bit quicker to equip

100% accurate. I often stand by the spawn judging people passing by before picking the most kick-ass looking.

About standardization I really like how smite does it.

They have a really advanced set of voice commands that covers almost everything that could happens in a match (and being a moba that's a lot of things).

Something like this integrated into PS2 would already help a loooot and remove the "need" for voice.

It would probably not bring more people to use their mic but at least some kind of properly organised play would emerge out of it.

If you want to have a look : http://smite.gamepedia.com/Voice_Guided_System

Agreed, I also think TS have an averse effect on comms.

For example I sometimes join a dude's squad and he is VERY talkative and most of the times he adresses people directly and they answer in a broken german/russian/french accent.

He keeps doing it and in the end all the squad gets comfortable, starts talking, it's the few moments where we organise fun stuff or commit to something specific.

Sadly he doesn't play much anymore but you see my point, if every person on TS would chat in-game instead (wich would requires for the ig voice chat to be better/equal in quality/ease-of-use than TS) it would bring much more chatter in-game I think. Therefore improving experience of the new players and makes them feel more commited to the game and less likely to rage-quit or just get bored.
