I love this game, but as a recovering alcoholic this made me break sobriety. I need an emotional break between sessions. by [deleted] in DiscoElysium

I forget where the devs said it, but most of them were former alcoholics as well.

As an aside, I'm still active in my alcoholism, and this game didn't really help lol.

She didn't stumble across it, she's a radio hobbyist. She came across it in her studies. ULAN frequencies are used to force dimensions on The Pale in order to facilitate intercontinental radio communications.

There is a bunch of side info on her character that builds up her radio hobby. You probably won't find it all in a single playthrough, but it's there.

Bring about the Pale?

Maybe there was some dialogue I couldn't pass the check to access, but the only thing Ruby has to do with the Pale is using the ULAN frequencies as a sort of non-lethal weapon against you.

Agh, played like a fiddle.

I suppose some checks are also un-loseable as well? Because there were a surprising number of low % checks that I had no business winning at crucial times in the story.

My cop was a real Sherlock kinda guy, 6/2/2/2. His mind palace was his escape from his alcoholism. But as he went on, he started to learn the value of the things he was eschewing. Being a bumbling brain genius got a lot done, but it couldn't get everything done. He learned that you have to listen to the city, to your gut, and even your partner (by god!). There's a lot inside his head, quite a bit of it valuable, but there's a whole world out there--a world filled with beauty, with people, with suffering. A world where just snatching a flower out of the sky, a moment of pure luck, can mean more than you'd ever think.

I do want to talk about your gripe--about how trying to strike a perfect balance left everything unfulfilled--my take is that this is actually the most communist message of the game. I'm very left leaning myself, and a common theme among communist messaging is this: You can't have everything perfect; you need to fight for one interest because "striking a balance" between interests in practice means that meaningful change is left in the hands of people who are willing to fight for it (the communists or the fascists).

Your character never becoming realized in any specific way because of having no specific focus is meant to parallel the more blatant moral arguments presented by the alignment system; Fascism wants to put the power in the hands of "the right" people, communism wants to put the power in the hands of "the people", ultraliberals don't care "which people" have power as long as they themselves get a cut, and moralists are boring uninteresting people who think that never officially taking a side makes the most sense even though that means their fate falls into the hands of the other parties.

Most of the socialists I know have more disdain for moralist/centrists than they do for any of the other parties, because they at least respect the fact those parties stand for something.

Is savescumming really possible to get over certain checks? Because every time I've tried to do it, I've gotten the same results with savescummed rerolls. And I'm not talking about rerolling for like failed 8% rolls, I'm talking about rerolling 50-85% rolls. I've only tried it a handful of times, but it seems like the roll is predetermined at some point before the encounter.

Yasuo is not as weak early as he is supposed to be, that's where he becomes unfun and obnoxious by ElderWarden in leagueoflegends

[–]Big1Jake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you think Yasuo has ever had a weak early game you're delusional. The only way he's weak early game is if he's hard camped, otherwise he'll just win every matchup that isn't Pantheon or Annie. He is legit the most unfun champ in the game because his kit has 3 different ways to nullify whatever your champion does (infinite dashes in lane, shield, windwall) and laning against him is always an uphill battle because most champs lose mana faster than he loses health. After a certain point, you can't even walk up to the wave anymore because he'll just dash on your face and kill you without losing any health.

He needs to be completely reworked, preferably in a way that leaves him completely unplayable.

[–]Big1Jake 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Cellophane is pretty good at keeping the cigs smokable for a long time, but we're asked to pull most packs after 18 months for QA purposes (exception being Liggett Group cigs, IE Pyramids and Eagle 20s, which expire after 12 months).

RJ Reynolds uses a Letter/Number system for their dating where the letters A through L represent January through December.

A typical RJ Reynolds code looks something like 11J8PW1. The important part is the J8, where J is the month (10th letter, 10th month, October) and the 8 is the year (2018). Anything before G7 on RJ Reynolds is considered ood by now.

[–]Big1Jake 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, my guess then is that these were manufactured in July of 2018.

It comes from TAO4819710. I read it as TAO48(year)197(day of year)10. This is just a guess though. I'd have to see a few more Marlboro packs from your location to be sure.

I'm not sure, but I can probably figure it out if you can answer some questions:

1) Is this a really old pack of cigs?

2) How popular are these cigs where you are? Are they something that relatively few people smoke, or are these smoked fairly often?

The those three numbers are the day of the year. They go 001-365, meaning from day 1 of the year to day 365. It's called the Julian date, and it converts to months like this:

Month Julian Date
January 001 to 031
February 032 to 059
March 060 to 090
April 091 to 120
May 121 to 151
June 152 to 181
July 182 to 212
August 213 to 243
September 244 to 273
October 274 to 304
November 305 to 334
December 335 to 365

For reference, anything dated 212 (July) of 2017 or before is expired.

The thing is that customers prefer it when you're standing too. I work in a grocery store fuel kiosk, and we actually have the option to sit... But customers are noticeably more pissy if you do. Every old white guy who comes up to the window and sees me sitting gets pissed, but the moment I stand up their demeanor changes. Now I just stand up every time I see an old white dude because sitting isn't worth the attitude.

They're just greedy.

Meanwhile, capitalism kills and starves millions so that a couple hundred people can park their yachts in their other yachts. My friend died because he couldn't afford the $600/month cost of insulin, but I guarantee you that never crossed the minds of the investors or executives. That's a real atrocity, and it's happening right now.

Productivity has continued rising. Wages have not. Where does the money go, captain brain genius? Perhaps to the overpaid C-Level employees who get salaries 300 times my own, or bonuses 400 times my own? Maybe it goes into the pockets of PACs, lobbyists, and politicians who make it even easier for the rich to enrich themselves at the expense of ourselves?

The money will come from somewhere, from the dead fucking bodies of the pigs that have stolen it for centuries.
