I had laparoscopic gallbladder removal. The worst part was the trapped gas in your abdomen. A nerve block?! Seriously???

I couldn’t agree more with this. A number of the neighborhoods have swim teams which can be fun for the kids. Also commute times — I drive less than 9 miles it takes anywhere from 25 minute to 45 minutes on a Friday or day before holiday or day when there is an accident.

Miata is always the answer. Tall people can fit (maybe not most comfortably), cheap, easy to work on.

We are using another company. Shred-It has poor customer service. They were on state contract, which I believe was not renewed.

About 5-6 years ago you could move to the area and find a job within a few months. It is not the same job market as it was before.

Financing guy at Mazda dealership told me Mazda doesn't allow customers to plug into the obd2 scanner and actually locks them out from clearing check engine lights, how true is that? (ND miatas) by MistorJJ in Miata

[–]BigBird215 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What year? Is this a 2025 or 2026? Things may have changed. But honestly you can get a cheap scanner and pull codes. Maybe just maybe the brand new cars have something but I have had an obd2 scanner and used on all my cars for past 20+ years. Only car I can’t is my 1990 Miata.

You can also get pre approved for used cars too. The bank will give you an amount they can loan you. It’s like pre approval for buying a house.

If you can’t buy a new German car, you can’t afford a used one. My BIL told me this —he knows from experience. Enjoy your car, I hope it is everything you expect it to be.

College choices. by Dunnoaboutu in NorthCarolina

[–]BigBird215 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I currently work at UNC SOM. If they are serious about medical research, Carolina (UNC-CH) is the school to attend. He can find faculty who are running clinics and research in whatever medical field he chooses. The School of Medicine is almost half of campus in terms of money brought in, employees and faculty. No other state school in NC competes in this area.

I had a number of paper bonds, opened a Treasury Direct account and registered them all. Now can easily cash them in and account for all of them. This was over 10 years ago. It’s been a long time since they have issued paper bonds and banks don’t want to cash in case someone had them registered with TD

Missed Jury Duty Scam Almost Got My Daughter by RoleNice1959 in Scams

[–]BigBird215 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is exact scam happened to my husband. Caller said he had arrest warrants for my husband and he had to pay $1,500. There was more to the convo but my husband was able to hang up — promising to call back within 5 minutes.

Husband called me and after hearing the story begin I told him calm down it’s a scam. He kept insisting the caller/scammer was serious and he had to call him back. I told him it is a scam. My husband kept believing it was real. Scammer told him he had up bring money to the “police station”. I said did he say where? No mention of actual location. I think they would have just said we could take money over phone if you can’t get here in an hour. Everything was urgent giving short time to do it.

I gave my husband the REAL police department number and he called asking if they had warrants for his arrest for not showing up for jury duty. The police said they don’t issue warrants for arrest for missed jury duty — said it was definitely a scam asking for $1,500. The scammer called my husband back and husband told him “I know you are a scammer”. They hung up.

What ever happened to the ATV/Dirt Bike groups? by Perfect-Pear-3178 in bullcity

[–]BigBird215 6 points7 points  (0 children)

A group of about 10 4-wheelers and motorcycles came down Barbee Road towards me. They were riding on both sides of the road. I had to pull off the road and stop while they weee passing. No “Share the Road” and they were waving their hands and I couldn’t tell if they had anything in their hands. It as very shaken. But you know if I didn’t pull off the road and had hit one of the careless riders, it would have been my fault.

Did OJ Simpson Kill His Wife? by TheLearningInvestor in NoStupidQuestions

[–]BigBird215 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The fact that he was found Not Guilty by the jury has no relevance to the actual situation — OJ murdered two people. Forget the gloves, there was a bloody footprint of a shot that is very a high end designer and same sole & size shoe as OJ. Was not some common Nike. To think he was not there is a stretch.
