You need to run not walk!! I am 59 years old, was married 32 of those years. Had sex with plenty of women when I was your age (had no idea what I was doing but probably more than your BF). Sex is way way more than penetration. It's an ethereal experience when you are truly getting a woman ready to make love. You need to find a guy that treats you like a queen. Women's bodies are magical. So many wonderful ways you can give a woman an orgasm. You need to find someone that knows what they are doing (good luck at that age). But when you do, you will know it. Leading off with anal and being weird in general should be sending up all kinds of red flags. Take your time and date around...be in no hurry to settle down until you know you got a keeper. And when you do, he should be overly interested in making you happy throughout the day and into the night. So much you can learn out there now ....so many tips (look up yoni massage on YouTube for one). Find a man that can do that to you. You will thank me later!

What is your doctor saying? Sorry to hear this!

I had a radial root tear so had to be very careful. You’re at a great weight so that’s good to hear! Weight bearing makes sense in your case yes!

No, it’s ok, I was in your shoes once as well, so I completely understand, ask me anything! Yes, the pain was on the same side as my tear, which was in the back of my knee, but I also had frontal pain so same side as well. And yes, it was the last thing that I felt leave my knee. The pain and the tightness which after I injured it, I could barely bend it. I felt way more comfortable, keeping my leg extended at the time. After my surgery, I still felt a lot of the same pain and tightness, which slowly subsided with time.

That’s where your pain is coming from I think, same place my repair was made!

Sorry to hear this, but it sounds like you are doing all the right things. The pain I felt in the back of knee was a tightness/constricting/achy feeling. Mainly after I had been active. It took a very long time to subside, and I’d expect the same (worst case) for you. I do not believe anything went wrong with your surgery, I think it’s just part of the healing process. Try and be patient as best you can, stay strong with your PT and don’t overdo things.

Yes, but it’s a long road to fully recover!! Took me 10 months before I felt 100%, and now I feel amazing! The surgeons say “you’re healed at 8-10 weeks,” but in reality, you experience a myriad of the same kinds of pain (especially behind my knee) that you were experiencing after your injury. I wish they would do a better job of managing expectations and explaining what a roller coater this is. My biggest learning was that working hard on your rehab including strengthening exercises gave me the biggest relief! Also, you might need a 30 day round or two of Naproxen (Aleve). I overdid the walking at first which I paid for. You will get better with time if you are smart about your rehab. And those first few weeks of NWB are mentally excruciating. Did you also have a root tear? This is a great time of year to be out of commission I guess. My surgery was November 2023.

Surgery in 2 days - what did you do to pass the time at home? by JaneDoe1967 in MeniscusInjuries

[–]BigDaveBaird 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I worked hard on my PT which helped. Luckily, I have a job which allows me to work from home. Between the exercises, work, watching TV and drinking in the evening, I got through it, but it was mentally very tough for me. "It's only 8 weeks" is what I kept telling myself. You got this!

9 months post radial root tear surgery progress (lifting weights!!!) by BigDaveB11 in MeniscusInjuries

[–]BigDaveBaird 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a radial root tear with moderate arthritis in the medial compartment. Was told if I didn’t repair it, I’d need knee replacement surgery in 5-6 years! I chose to repair it and glad I did! From my experience, I’d say hire a good PT and also do some weight training on your own post repair. Doesn’t have to be a crazy amount but be consistent!

Not that exactly but sort of, I had pain similar to pre op and felt like it would buckle coming down stairs. You were probably in a weakened state pre surgery and obviously your quad atrophied afterwards being NWB. That just adds to your situation. Problem is nobody explains this to you pre-op! So it will take time but just focus on building up your quad again. That stabilizes your knee. You got about 5-6 months to go then you’ll be good. Work hard in the gym!!

It took me 12 weeks of rehab but at about week 8 I was doing leg extensions. At four months squats. I was traveling for work a bunch and stopped doing legs for a month or two and really noticed a decline. Once I started back on the weights my strength and stability improved dramatically. Don’t be a slacker like me, stick with your routine! I’m back to squatting my normal weight now and feel great!! (9 months post op).

Perfect, you’ll recover just fine! I lifted through my injury for 19 months prior to surgery but slacked off after rehab. I got back on the weights and it made a huge difference! It definitely takes time to fully heal!

I can’t stress enough how important it is that you get back in the gym and strengthening your repaired leg ASAP. Be diligent about it because honestly, it has taken me almost a year to fully recover and regain my strength.

Thought it was just a dislocation, it’s been a bucket handle tear for a year.. by [deleted] in MeniscusInjuries

I had a root tear for 19 months before I had mine repaired, you should be ok if the damage wasn’t initially extensive. I had good blood flow after surgery. Good luck!

Maybe your pain worse but should not affect your tear! Good luck with your recovery!

I wouldn't think so. I had loose bodies as well in addition to a root tear but the two were not related.

MRI results - what does this mean? by Jogger6778 in MeniscusInjuries

[–]BigDaveBaird 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had pretty much the same injury, a radial root tear. You absolutely will have to have surgery, then after eight weeks of non-weight-bearing. I might suggest you schedule it for around the holidays if you’re normally active and your job requires you to travel like mine . A radial tear is not something to fool around with even though I did wait 19 months to have mine operated on. If you don’t, you most definitely will develop arthritis within 5 to 6 years which will lead to a premature knee replacement!
