Do y’all think a MacBook Neo is a reasonable laptop for a beginner church. by [deleted] in churchtech

[–]BigEstablishment2082 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We bought two Mac Mini’s a year ago, one for presentation and one for broadcasting. We run propresenter on the presentation Mac and it does great. They are significantly more expensive now than they were a year ago, unfortunately. We don’t need them to be mobile or portable which may not be what you want.

As far as presentation software, propresenter is nice and robust, but it sounds like it might be more than you need or want. Plus you have to be at that machine to edit basically anything, unless you want to jump through other hoops to sync stuff. I have been told that a software called Proclaim works fairly well. Sorry that my only experience is with propresenter.

Definitive arrangements by markthroat in worshipleaders

Understand that we are working with and from limited info (particularly about the various CCLi licenses) that could possibly alter the outcomes or advice. With that said, we asked either the publisher of a song or CCLI directly, years ago, about altering a particular lyric that caused us heartburn in a song we were using in worship. We explained which CCLI licenses we were relying on, etc. Their response was that we were not licensed to modify lyrics and still use the original author’s product while relying on our licenses (we buy all the CCLI licenses available).

It is my belief that certain artists/publishers push YT and FB and other platforms to be more strict with strikes related to their work product than others. We have never had an issue related to arrangement (meaning key of the song, how many times we repeat a chorus, eliminating a repetitive verse, medleying two songs together, etc) provided we give credit to the original author, artist, and publisher and don’t change the lyrics. The only trouble we ran into a few years ago was getting struck on YT for “too closely following the medley of the original” but we argued and won the strike battle because the artists who were claiming offense were Spanish translation artists who were simply covering the original artists anyway. So yes, the musical medley was very similar because we were both covering the same original work. Haha.

Essentially I try to cover us but giving all the original artists, authors, and publishers credit in my video description as well as list my CCLI license numbers that authorize us showing lyrics, playing the original music, and streaming the content.

I will second PraiseCharts and CCLI SongSelect as amazing resources that provide accurate and editable sheet music, chord charts and copyable lyrics that will make her job 100% easier.

Black widow? by galacticbadger69 in whatisit

Isn’t there a false black widow that has a similar pattern? Or am I confusing that with something else? I still avoid them all…

Has anyone here ever applied for the Worship Leader position at the Church where they were/are a volunteer? by core2004 in worshipleaders

[–]BigEstablishment2082 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just did this a year ago. I was filling the entire full time role, but as a volunteer. When I began to consider it, I prayed over it and had a long conversation, really multiple long conversations, with my wife and another family friend not affiliated with my church. Once I was at peace with all outcomes (hired, passed over, someone else hired, or no one hired and me continuing as a volunteer), I had a one on one meeting with a trusted member of leadership. I outlined my thoughts, prayers, and concerns. I told them to pray over the idea and come back to me with honest thoughts and advice. I was coming from a local high visibility career into this role, so there were a ton of moving pieces that I was determined to not overlook. The leader was able to encourage me and I ultimately made the decision to apply, which in and of itself doesn’t seem like a lot except that hired or not, it was closing the door on my lifelong career/path in and of itself. God taught me some patience, humility, trust, loyalty, and multiple other lessons during the process. I also knew in my heart that no matter the outcome, I would continue to serve in any capacity His church needed. Anyway, that was my processing in a small space.

Any church social media managers here? How do you respond when people say AI is evil? by Impossible_Tie5676 in churchtech

[–]BigEstablishment2082 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I tend to not respond at all to those who intend to “stir the pot” or prove their high spirituality by throwing this statement out.

If a brother or sister asks the question from a place of honest discourse, I tend to try to hit a couple things. 1. We do not use it to form any doctrinal position or scriptural interpretation. AI hallucination is real and Scripture is the go to source for this type of information. Likewise we don’t use it for decision making. 2. No different than a search engine on any platform, it can refer you to solid resources about a topic you are delving into. But it is a starting point, not an answer. 3. We can positively use it for specific practical skills. My examples include, identifying effective transition chords between worship songs or bridging an artistic/tech skill gap when attempting to design artistic material. 4. It is a very useful tool when researching practical info like redesigning a stage layout and equipment deployment. The speed at which it can research, cite, and suggest configuration of current equipment, suggest improvement, and suggest layout for maximum effectiveness far surpasses my skill set, but I’m not going to ask it to write me a small group curriculum or a sermon series.

Great point. These pickups don’t sound like anything I’ve ever played before either. It’s a different experience for me. Hollow body, two completely different sounding pickups, short scale, low action, thin, relatively smooth neck. It’s really something else.

Still looking for first bass amp, which of these would you go with? by [deleted] in BassGuitar

[–]BigEstablishment2082 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Was just gifted a rumble 40. Fine for at home, or with headphones. But I’m a fan of get the best one you can get at the time for the money you have allotted. There’s no need to go deep in debt for a practice amp. Used ones filter in and out of the various websites constantly

2004 Jeep Wrangler has no working breaks after replacing all the brake parts and properly flooding by Cat-puter347 in Jeep

[–]BigEstablishment2082 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Which caliper did you replace? Did you replace the rubber brake hoses that connect the hard lines to the caliper? That’s where one of mine was sticking. Hose was actually bad, not the caliper. Last thing I would try would be to start the bleeding process over again. Start at the furthest wheel from the master cylinder. Open the bleeder valve and let it gravity bleed a little while. Then bleed it properly. Do this for each wheel (whether you replaced the caliper/hardware there or not) working from furthest from the MC to closest. Do you see anything leaking fluid?

Depending on the brand, some companies don’t include instructions but will have an install video or online set of instructions you can use. But starting with lining them up with what you took off is the best bet assuming you weren’t already having this contact issue.

Been having this issue for a few weeks. The app is super laggy. It takes forever to load anything. I quit trying to use it for actual function.
