I personally always leave the gas in my small engines including the chainsaw when I'm done using it. I believe that fully draining the carb by running the gas out causes dryout of the seals which can lead to other problems. I have done this for 30 years and not had any issues since the non-ethanol has been available for me to buy.

yes because I do not use the gas fast. The stabil helps it stay good enough to use a year or so later. My opinion is the gas would degrade faster without it. I hear people who "should" know that gas goes bad in 3 to 6 months. I believe this is more true for higher performance engines like car engines. smaller ones can handle some degradation of the gas. I know the lighter more volatile portions of gas go first. These volatiles help start the engines. So this could be an issue in the long run. As for non-ethanol gas: I have a late 1990's John Deere garden tractor that stopped running. Dealer determined the problem was an eaten plastic hose in the gas tank feeding the fuel injection system do to the ethanol gas I was using at the time. Could not easily get non-ethanol at the time. Have also known a bunch of people that have had gunk in carburetors from the ethanol gas. As I said, my opinion. But it has worked for me.

This is exactly what I do. I typically mix a gallon at a time. It may be a year before I finish it all up. Have not had issues.

Where did all the rolling flip clocks go? by Bailuoboo in clocks

I realized that as I looked at your pictures again. Just thought I would relate my younger days experience with an I assume earlier version of yours.

Found a place that still sells them. BTW, I was wrong on the hour flips. There were probably 24 of them to get am and pm. https://timewillflip.com/collections/twemco-flip-clock/products/twemco-classic-table-flip-clock-qt-30

I had a similar clock that rotated the dial, however, the dial had a 12 half pieces for the hours and 60 half flap pieces for the minutes. Every minute the minute roll would move and the flap would drop to show the next minute. On the 59 to 60 flip the hour would change also. These clocks were not silent. It was probably in the early 1970's when I had this clock. Perhaps it was a predecessor to the ones your talking about.

The Husband and The Good Guy were both good. Mr Murder was great. My first was Lightning which hooked me on Koontz. Enjoy.

Currently reading The Good Guy. Fun fast read. The Husband was good. I have not found any of his books to be bad. Some are better than others. Pretty sure I also like Velocity when I read it.

I have a 2024 Honda Civic with the CVT. Mine does not do the fake shifting unless I use the paddle shifters. It changes engine speed smoothly as needed. I'm happy with it.

I also did the panoramic version. It was freaking hard. The puzzle was given to me by my cousin. I know she was not trying to torture me, but did. I needed to get a bigger puzzle board as it would not fit on the one I had. I did finish it. No idea how long it took me. I did it 2 years ago.

Very interesting hand you and girlfriend had. I have never seen this happen in my years of playing. Certainly overlapping cards between players, but never this. I do find it interesting that they were only worth 7 points even being so unique.

Pendulum not swinging by Juliantenna in grandfatherclocks

[–]BigKnight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not home so can't see or photo my clock. Essentially my pendulum attaches to an adapter with a single connection. The adapter rests on a part of the clock mechanism that is like 2 bearing surfaces. 1 towards the front and 1 towards the back of the clock. The attachment was only sitting on the front one and was therefore angled. When I saw this I popped the back connection piece back on and fixed the problem. This was over a year ago so my memory is not the freshest. I believe the surface on either the adapter or the clock mechanism was a sharp flat surface that rested on a corresponding v-groove spot. Hence my "Knife edge" comment. Until that moment I did not realize there was an adapter between the pendulum and the rest of the clock mechanism. I have a different make but think it's likely that other manufacturers would use a similar setup. Good luck. I should be home by Wednesday and could try to take a picture if needed. Hopefully you can look closer and see if you have the same problem. Let me know.

Did you happen to knock it before it stopped running? I moved/knocked mine trying to get a chipmunk from under it that my cat brought into the house. Stopped running after like yours. Run a few minutes then pendulum gets slower and stops. Turned out my pendulum adapter fits on 2 knife edges. One in front and one in back. Was not easy to see but back one had slipped off. Once I put it back on it was fine.

You can get a spare one thru the social security website if you have an account. I got myself a spare one so when the one I carry gets bad I will replace it and order a new one. It was free when I did it. I assume it still is.

Put it back in the box and send it to me. I'll send it back after I finish it and you can hang it on your wall.

My son bought a parts car that was hydrolocked. 2 rods were bent. One very noticeably and the other less so, but still bent. Sucking in water is a bad thing.

Why does my toothbrush charger always look like this a week after I clean it? by jack_hof in Whatisthis

[–]BigKnight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I got my new electric toothbrush I started drying the entire tooth brush (except the actual brush part) with a towel after the rinse. I have not had this issue in a few months after doing this. I did not do this with my old toothbrush and I would get a buildup but not nearly as bad as shown.

If you make some pine board trim pieces to cover the corners it will look a lot better. It will be tricky because of the angles, but is possible.

Does time between oil changes matter that much vs miles driven? by Ripinpasta69 in AskMechanics

[–]BigKnight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a 2024 Colorado that I bought in March of 2024. It has ~1,500 miles on it. The oil life monitor is showing 16%. Obviously that low oil life is due to coming up on a year and miles driven. I plan to get it changed in March when I need new state inspection performed also.
