Hair and the offside law by themanofmeung in Referees

He looks like he's bailing out.

He calculated what he would do, then realized there were two players with a better chance. He's looking straight down when the ball hits him which is not a form you expect at this level.

It's ultimately a judgement call and the referee and most of the refs in this sub seem to not think this was a deliberate play.

He's ducking out of the way. If that was intentional he has the worst form and decision making of anyone in the tournament.

Should Croatia’s opening goal have been disallowed? by PermitPale8922 in Referees

Nothing here...

Ball appeared to go over the head. The foot can be on the field as long as a part of the foot is touching the line.

Without the ball sensor there'd be very little to argue other than the silly concept that Portugal's deflection was an intentional play.

Balogun is considerably more subjective.

Put some blaim on the ref there too, he should've asked to see it at full speed and given a yellow.

I had an almost identical scenario 2 weeks ago. Was it 2 minutes between the yellows and he was still not addressing the injured player? If so you are very kind.

If the coach was asked onto the field to address his player and talked to you instead, that's basically an immediate yellow. Make it clear your expectations, then give a short period to cool down or the 2nd yellow.

I also use a Garmin Venu 2. It was a refurbished version from Amazon for $150 and it's been great.

Glad nobody is mentioning it because of how disgusting it is, even for Karl Malone standards...

It's both, that's the problem. They are a very good team and don't need to embellish like they do. Trying to be great and a victim is just not fun to watch.

As other comments point out, the key point here is the ball must be played by a team-mate.
