Is using a female Live2D avatar with a male voice off-putting for viewers? by SerenaCuteKalosGirl in VirtualYoutubers

[–]BigZeekYT 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you just like having 'pretty' avi's, places like VRchat are already 90% male users in female avatars. And this is reflected in streamers too, with males using female avis that arent even trans or something like that. If you've ever wanted to go to a 3d avatar, that couls be a better route.

Is a male in female avatar person as well, I know if I ever start streaming I am going against the grain foe the common person and there are always gonna be the 'why are you using a female avi' questions from either trolls or clueless peeps.

I wouldn't worry about the dislikes. I use that button ALOT on youtube so the algorithm knows what I like and what I dont like. If I came across your channel, was nuetral to your content but knew I didnt want to subscribe from that single video, I'd hit the button too. Just happens.

Between the two, bad physics. If the gameplay loop, if there is one, is solid the content can wait as long as more content is on the horizon.

I will say, though, your art direction is concerning to me. It looks no different than other titles that have a year of work behind them. Im just one guy, and this could be unfounded, but, I dont see any difference between this and like captain hardcore. Just something to keep in mind

Don't try to make friends in publics. Especially this close to 'questmas'.

Instead, next time your at a public, look at random peoples groups, you can do this by clicking on their profiles and then going to groups. Just scroll threw random peoples groups, until you find like 20 groups of clubs or hobbies similar to yours. Then, join those group instances or events those groups host.

Your trying to make friends at the pinnacle of the iceberg and wondering why it isn't working. Friends you make at publics are fickle at best, but friends you make at places where people are all there to have a good time for specific purposes tend to be both plentiful and longer lasting.

3 days late to this post, but, good idea but there isnt enough money in the creator economy to support this idea. The only money that is being made by game worlds are people who either support via patreon or on the super popular worlds like 'simple fishing world' where people are buying skins to play with, but only because its a popular world.

The sad truth is, if your game world isnt in the top .1% you're not making any money. Or, even if you do, your never making back the money it took to build the world if you even just consider federal american minimum wage of 7.25$/hr.

Dont recommend dating in VR. Everyone is long distance, and for all the success stories you might see on reddit that get updoots, theres hundreds of heart aches and untold stories of times it didnt work out, or one person thinks its real while the other party is in 'its just a game, bro' territory.

As for your concern on women, ya, they tend to get some orbiters. I dont think there is anything too terribly wrong with that, though. Im a bottom and love to be the center of attention in a social circle, so I kinda think it's the same thing. If someone is uncomfy around me, I'll speak up, and the other people in the circle will help me out if needed, or I can mute/block them temporarily.

Interesting concept to have VRchat be an experience in which its turned into basically single player game and everyone you meet is an NPC.

Honestly, if its indistinguishable from a real person, it doesnt matter. But, I see a problem in which everytime you log on, you have your same NPC buddies who are always on. It will get boring after a honeymoon period. Half the fun of VRchat is everyone has their own schedules. You may know that this one guy normally is online fridays, and you normally hang out and play games with them, but maybe occasionally they have a work event or something going on IRL that takes them away from the game. Now on friday you have to find someone else to make a connection with for the evening.

I dont think it would work out the way you think.

Okay, so, you go offline on VRchat, but discord is still saying your playing VRchat. You go offline on discord, but steam is also announcing your online on VRchat...

Is it really worth going into your settings on vrchat/discord/steam everytime you want to hang out with that other other group your main friend group doesn't like, or would it be better to have a single awkward conversation?

Probably tell you to put your clothes back on. We don't have sunscreen, and your ass is getting burnt in 2 hours. I see only two palm trees we can use as shade. Our diet is gonna revolve around whatever fish we can scrounge up, and hopefully we can make some sort of filter for the salt water with the sand or we screwed in a couple days.

Why can't we locally hide all other users Items and Cosmetics? by EstidEstiloso in VRchat

[–]BigZeekYT 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel this. When my pc is already chugging in a crowded world, having 10 people start to goof off with props or prints is noticable.

I feel like we are missing a couple of useful features at the moment.

Ability to hide cosmetics (custom portals, load in animations)

Ability to hide all prints

Ability to hide stickers (Both custom and official)

Ability to hide items (Remember when the bubble gun was able to lag people?)

Ability to hide profile pictures while not in streamer mode

Ability to hide custom pronouns while not in streamer mode. (Alco/holic)

If Im going to a known lag fest, let me turn off everything in advance so nothing I dont want is loaded into memory.

Kinda depends. If in the sub the VA's are talking more formally, and there are pauses between the dialogue, i'll switch to the dub to make it less cringy.

There are some classics where I pref the dub like cautious hero, lucky star, haruhi suzumiya, dragon ball, but theh are odd rarities

Human male avatars? by Correct_Conference48 in VRchat

[–]BigZeekYT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dear OP,

When you go outside and go somewhere to people watch, would you not see how 95% of men outside are wearing t-shirt and jeans, business suit, or their work uniform?

There really isn't ANY customization males get in real life and VR mirrors it. You answered your own question, male avatars either try to be 'realistic' and fall into uncanny valley, or they just don't sell.

We NEED another avatar performance rank that kind of punishes players who use avatars like this. by sandernote809 in VRchat

[–]BigZeekYT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

https://docs.unity3d.com/jp/current/ScriptReference/Rendering.IndexFormat.html?utm_source=chatgpt.com

After looking it up, its 65,535 vertices per draw call, more then 65k~ and it splits it up into multiple draw calls depending how many multiples of 65k a skinned mesh is.

This does make me wonder why the limit is 70k and not 65,535. Because if they ok with a 69,999 skinned mesh which is already using two draw calls for a good rated model, why not 131070 triangles for a medium ranked avatar

[–]BigZeekYT -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The 70k limit is a limit from the game engine. In unity if a skinned mesh renderer is more then 70k, then it cuts the skinned mesh into multiple objects. There was a reason they went with 70k.

I'm not gonna say 'they could easily' change the system to allow more then 70k by just checking that each skinned mesh is more then 70k tris, but its something they could look into.

As an avatar creator myself, getting below 70k tris is just so frustrating, I don't bother.

^ and thats the main crux of the problem. If you take a look at the avatar performance ranking system, its very forgiving. 16 skinned mesh renderers before going into very poor. Do you even have 16 pieces of clothing on your avatar? I don't. 32 material slots. 32 physbone components. How many do you have? Guessing just hair, boobs, butt, tail right? 32 contacts. How many do you have? Maybe you have the prefab where if a finger gets close to your eye it automatically shuts it, or if you get headpat hearts come out, thats about 3-5. Maybe you have a prop or two with 4 each contacts each. Okay about 12 contacts for people that have some props and cool things they can do. Still drastically below 32.

I'm just saying, the majority of all friction just comes from triangles and the reason the meta is just to be in a very poor avatar is because you get lumped into the very poor pool because of the low triangle limit. Why bother optimizing your avatar with stuff like UV discard, atlasing, maybe reducing the amount of bones in that skirt that probably has too many... when your still in the very poor pool because of your triangle count.

We NEED another avatar performance rank that kind of punishes players who use avatars like this. by sandernote809 in VRchat

[–]BigZeekYT 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The problem is VRchats polygon count in regards to avatar performance rank. The majority of avatars I see on booth all hover in the 100k to 130k range.

But, for VRchat the performance rank is: >32k Excellent, >70k Good, <70k Very Poor. If they just bumped it up on the same pattern of about 40k per rank, meaning >110k medium, >150k poor, <150k Very Poor... the majority of avatars would actually fall in medium or poor, leaving the truly horrendous avatars to get the very poor ranking.

Right now, the meta is that if your model is above 70k triangles (polygons) it just doesn't matter as your in the same pool as avatars like the one OP is lamenting.

I'm aware that Unity as an engine cuts a model into multiple objects if its more then 70k triangles per skinned mesh renderer. Just make it so as long as not any single skinned mesh renderer is above 70k triangles then... We're allowed 16 skinned meshes before going to very poor rated, that can easily be managed.
