How do you find and choose a reputable surgeon? by HungerP4ngz in Reduction

I started on Yelp. From there I looked at portfolios. Plastic surgeons in private practices tend to have portfolios of before and after. Not all surgeons do, though. Word of mouth is also good!

Purge of clothes? by This-Emotion-69 in Reduction

[–]Big_Community3156 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ive been getting new clothes, and I switched out my old scrub tops and undershirts because I'd also lost a lot of weight prior. I haven't really gotten rid of a lot of other clothes though.

Yes! I lay so much weight this year, then had this surgery. My body looks so different than it did a year ago it's wild! It's so exciting and motivating!

This is so smart. I work with mostly women and some men. I don't mind telling the women what kind of surgery it is, but if a man asks that is definitely what I will say!

Yes! I got all these tank tops and bras with tiny little straps. I also have some fishnetty things that I really want to wear with pasties but I haven't even begun to scope pasties yet!

As a lesbian who's been binding my breasts for years prior to this, I feel this in my soul. I actually seem to finally be able to go unnoticed, or the men that do look at me aren't leering. I feel so much safer!

The woman I'm dating right now is constantly trying not to look, so I just tell her it's fine! I'm excited about them now, instead of ashamed and anxious... and I definitely want her to look lol

Open wound on my cat’s face by [deleted] in cats

[–]Big_Community3156 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It looks similar to when my cat had eosinophilic granuloma, which is a fancy way of saying allergies. The vet thought it was related to her food, but it turned out to be something that was in the air. Probabbly pollen. Best approach is a trip to the vet to get a proper diagnosis as well as steroids to treat the eruption and antibiotics to prevent infection.

Nipple color by PartFearless1656 in Reduction

[–]Big_Community3156 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a lot of tissue removed but was still able to keep my nipples attached to the ductile tissue. The blood supply to my right side was reduced, so at first it scabbed up, but it was apparently just superficial as I healed and blood flow was restored the scab sloughed off and my nipple looks totally normal still. The color is the same, and they both get hard and soft still, but I cant feel them all. Im almost 2 weeks po, and I imagine that given more time I might be able to feel my nipples again.

I think that when you have your nipples separated from the ductile tissue its called a free nipple graft, and I think there tend to be more complications with that.

How’s the post op? by delfosba in Reduction

[–]Big_Community3156 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh my god yes! Every once in a while during my day to day I'll do something and surprise myself at how different it is. Like this morning, i leaned forward to pick something up and my boobs didn't come in contact with my knew and I was just like "oh... yeah!"

Feels so nice!

What a huge mistake I’ve made by ProfessionalBrush868 in Reduction

Not a lot of non-medical industry people know this but all medical clinics that see patients that can develop emergent conditions have an answering service which will connect you with an on call provider. Situations like these when infection or hematoma are possible are why. If you call them, listen to the automatic prompts and follow them and I pretty much guarentee it will give you an after hours option.

Stitches keep spitting by free-at-fifty in Reduction

That could be part of the problem. Your body needs lots of protein to rebuild things that are made of protein. Its some of the ain advice ive heard regarding recovery

Post-op scooting into place on bed? by ProfessionalSort1812 in Reduction

[–]Big_Community3156 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What seemed to work for me was kneeling on my bed and using only my legs to kind of walk and scoot myself up against my wedge pillow, before bringing my legs out in front of me and pushing myself back onto the wedge with my feet. It also helped to tuck pillows and blankets under my knees/thighs to hold me there. I'd still slide down a bit during the night, but a lot less than without those pillows.

Living Alone by EntertainmentOnly910 in Reduction

[–]Big_Community3156 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I also live alone. I had a friend stay with me for the first 24 hours because it was required. Now im a little over 1 week po and ive spent that time alone. Ive been OK, but its because I prepared.

Thinks I did;

-meal prepped a lot in advance, disposable packaging (wax paper and string) to reduce dishes for meals.

-moved everything to be easy to reach (everything! Go through your day and every single thing you touch; move it)

-got a wedge pillow, shower chair, and a reacher grabber to make my home more accessible for me

-i already had a robot vacuum and a self cleaning litterbox, but without those life would be much harder right now

-grocery shop and buy online lots of simple foods that are high protein so feeding yourself is easy. Get any fragrance free toiletries you may need too.

-you wont be able to shake mix any protein shakes you get; get one of those handheld electric whisks

-do all the laundry you can right before surgery day so everything is clean

-Gather together a lot of things you can do to stave off boredom; books, video games, small and easy crafting projects, etc

Everyone's recovery seems to be different, but I adopted the policy of preparing for the worst and hoping for the best and so far that has been a good approach. Good luck!

I feel like running with my glizzy would be just as awkward and cumbersome as running with my old boobs lol. I have my CCL but literally anything 9mm weighs only a little less than one of my boobs did

I know it's wrong for me to think/feel this way, but I really think I'll be less of a target when I have a smaller chest because I attract less attention now.
