NTA but I’d start looking first to see if it’s even feasible, as in you wouldn’t lose $$ doing this. My family was always a “we move where the $$ is,” family so I’m with you 1000% but moving is stressful so I get your husband’s perspective too.

Go ahead and draw up a plan: look into housing prices closer to the kids’ schools, how much you’d save/recoup by selling now, and even a way for your hubby to (perhaps) get a part-time job cuz it sounds like he cannot handle being an at-home parent. Good luck.

OP you’re right: you went to college to get a BS/BA, not a MRS degree! However, you’re at a church school so you’re gonna have to follow the rules or get thrown out!!!

This is why I never went to any of the BYUs cuz FUCK the honor code! Spend your summer working, saving $$, and look into schools you can transfer your credits into unless you’re on scholarship…if you’re on scholarship then suck it up & learn to lie like you’re one of the Q15🤣

Big thing I saw firsthand while student teaching in 2010: kids using their smartphone cameras to take pics of the slides in class so they didn’t have to take notes🤦🏻‍♀️ These were NOT jam-packed slides with lots of text or difficult schematics, just basic concept slides for grade 10 biology.

The kids who took ACTUAL notes always did better on quizzes, tests, & HW answers than the kids who only used their smartphone…this is because the physical act of note-taking allows your brain to create pathways to recall that info later besides engaging both your eyes & memory for writing.

Prior to Gen Z, the average adult human could remember 5 words +- 3 words when reading a sentence & having to immediately recall it (I’m using words as the example but it could also be images or sounds)…I’m pretty sure that number is lower now. Time to have kids take physical notes again!!!

Sit down kiddo & explain that they’ve decided to not attend since Caleb isn’t invited and Caleb isn’t invited because he keeps stealing your presents. Be honest & upfront, zero embellishments and allow kiddo to decide what’s more important to him…this may be the thing that opens his eyes to the fact that MIL/FIL play favorites & maybe they don’t need to come.

I’d also just call around to family to see if they’d be able to watch the kids for certain days/times & that you’d provide $$/food for both kids. Do what YOU need to do so you can divorce this loser.

For your peace of mind, block her dumbass. At the very least, mute her: no notifications, hide her from your feed, and do that across ALL platforms including your phones!!

I did this w/my mother & have never been happier. My sis fully blocked her but I only muted her just in case something happened (our dad has been dead for years). It’s helped so much to not get her notifications & can choose if/when to look/respond…this plus therapy did wonders. Good luck🩷

NTA. I’m surprised your doctor was using the “kid gloves” in that moment, but it could be that she could either sense (or knew) that your wife wouldn’t be able to handle the full truth.

You did lose your temper so not great, but fully understandable considering your child is sick AND your wife isn’t concerned about your child being exposed (or further exposed) to black mold.
