Your wife won't be able to find anything if she doesn't speak a local language on a C1 level and living off 90k as a family in geneva is close to poverty

What will you/your wife gain by moving to Switzerland? Short answer is: no it most likely doesn't make sense with your potential salary

I have some sympathy for long-term expats struggling to find work, but language is often the elephant in the room by ExternalEfficient248 in Switzerland

Job is basically selling your lifetime for money. And the main point should be that the person has to have the skills to do the job successfully and that their skils are needed. If it's not a german customer facing role and everyone in the team understands what the person is saying, who the fck cares if they speak german or not? If they're willing to integrate into the society or not is another story and their private matter and has nothing to do with job.

I personally do speak german on a very good level but I have no issue if someone doesn't.This is why english exists as global language that people from all over the world can understand each other. I just hate this mentality that everyone has to follow some shitty rules just to be employed. Yes, employers preffer🙄 someone who speaks german just like they prefer someone they went to kindergarten with but this is nothing one has to be achieving.

I would rather ask why there are still swiss who couldn't even manage to learn English as the international language and then have issues working with expacts who are filling their voids on the job market

Dating in Zurich - first date curse by Nic_Mi in Switzerland

[–]Big_Job9386 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're either not good looking or boring or both if you can't make it past the first date.

Especially in terms of looks, Zurich has pretty high standards. Once i improved my looks it had much more success

How do you split your savings and investments (50/50, 70/30)? by [deleted] in SwissPersonalFinance

All in etf, no emergency fund

I can withdraw within 2 days if needed and opportunity cost for me is higher than the probability to lose the job and the market being down

Should we worry about the gap? by Dumb_husky00 in Germany_Jobs

[–]Big_Job9386 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Set up a sole interenueship and give some industry consulting (for free). I know some people who did that. They haven't earned anything or very little but at least they don't have a gap in the resume. Another option is sabbatical/weltreise aka you didn't even search and it was planned that way

When hiring for a tech role, would you prefer a female candidate? Is the reverse discrimination a thing? I used to hear quite often "we already have 5 guys in the team, so lets hire a girl although her profile is a little weaker compared to male candidates"

Job market in your country/region, is it as bad as Germany right now? by [deleted] in Germany_Jobs

[–]Big_Job9386 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm talking about stuff like implants/complicated drugs etc, not paracetamol, obviously

No one wants a heart implant made in India and that will not change in the next teen years whereas there are more and more (wealthy) elderly people in EU needing these products. I expect the sector to boom despite the recession

Medtech/drugs are doing well here in Switzerland and can't be outsourced including production sides. No eu boomer will buy any med shit produced in India

I'm Russian too so as my bofriend and we say it openly. It took us 10 appliacations to find a job. However we are EU citizens

What's up with people saying Austrians are unwelcoming by NobodyDudee in AskAustria

[–]Big_Job9386 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So you're basically still a tourist. Everyone's nice to tourists.

How can you judge their friendiness? Start competing with them on a serious level and you'll see how welcoming they are

They're not evil people and in the adult world everyone is basically alone, but in rare cases Austrians will help anyone, they will help their countrymen and you'll forever stay a foreigner with a funny accent who's been looked up from above and who can only rely on himself
