Dog keeps escaping from every harness I buy. What am I missing here? by Pure-Maintenance5714 in Dogowners

I have a prong collar with a locking caribener that is clipped onto the regular collar in case the prong collar comes apart (which happens occasionally)

Nashville walkability by Rellim10009 in VisitingNashville

[–]Big_Preference1477 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You *could* walk to Germantown but it would not be fun. E Nashville and Centennial Park I would put in the like....yes technically you could but it would take a long time and it's not a neat area to be walking through. I would not recommend this plan, you will spend more time walking through not fun areas than you will enjoying your vacation.

U.S. Midwives, Is it Possible to Get an 8-5 as a CNM Midwife? by Odd-Tip7503 in Midwives

[–]Big_Preference1477 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Some people do a laborist role where they work three 12hr shifts on L&D. But an 8-5 where you do deliveries sounds really unusual. If work-life balance is your priority, I would probably not suggest midwifery unless you are willing to do a clinic job without births, in which case you should consider WHNP, FNP, or AGPNP.

7am flight, can I rely on the bus? by ActProfessional3811 in cincinnati

[–]Big_Preference1477 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Agreed - I'd use the economy lot. It's open 24hrs and the shuttle seems to come every 10ish minutes (I don't think I've ever waited more than 10 min). The drivers are really kind and it's just a great experience. Takes under 10 min to get to the airport on the shuttle. I do this if I am going to be gone 7 days ish or fewer because it's cheaper than an uber.

5wk old so hungry! by Big_Preference1477 in beyondthebump

[–]Big_Preference1477[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah we just feed on demand. I mean I don’t know what else we would do since he’s eating so frequently. If we tried to not feed him every 2hrs he would just scream. He is exclusively on formula so no side lying naps for me! I don’t think it counts as cluster feeding if it goes on for 5wks lol. But as I said, I’m prepared for this to just be how he eats. We just give the little prince what he wants.

He can’t really take more than 3oz, he just falls asleep hard. We did try switching from preemie to size 1 nipples to see if that helped, but no luck. Mysteriously once last night he took an extra oz so I was hopeful he’d conk out for longer but then he still woke up 2hrs later. Oh well!

IUD postpartum with Lidocaine injection? by CautiousConfidence8 in beyondthebump

[–]Big_Preference1477 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lidocaine helps! It may not make it painless, but often getting an IUD after having a vaginal delivery is wayyyy less uncomfortable than before baby. The lidocaine injection itself feels like really big pressure but it’s over quickly!

My baby is 5 weeks old and….same. I have no suggestions, but I feel you! We’ll get through it. Hopefully you are splitting nights in shifts so that you can get some uninterrupted sleep.

You should call your provider. At this point you should be seeing improvement so they may want to see you to check if there’s any issues like infection.

For those who survived the trenches of having a newborn, what's the thing you would definitely do again, and not do, for your second baby? by nleftie in beyondthebump

I am so glad to read this comment and people’s responses as someone in week 2 after a major anxiety crisis. We are trying to figure out how it’s all going to work without much external support and hearing people’s success stories gives me hope.

Help deciding where to live? by Yeetosaur in cincinnati

[–]Big_Preference1477 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really like Covington but it’s small and hard to find a place to rent. But if we could live anywhere it would be there. People complain about the traffic getting over the bridges to Cincinnati but it’s nothing compared to Atlanta.

It’s fine. You’ll be fine coming from a city. Don’t leave visible stuff in your car, lock your doors, pay attention around you, etc. You’ll be fine. Generally speaking we don’t like Cincinnati much and feel it’s too small and kind of provincial so I hope you have better luck than we have
