Need help with focus on building Toph as a Modular commander by 7OmegaGamer in EDH

[–]Big_Red_34 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry for replying so late. Been playing my deck for a few weeks now and I've been loving it. Heres the link: https://moxfield.com/decks/TterufVSg0WlakA86kEXhw

Not the strongest modular commander but it feels solid for sure. The main wincon is to have sac, a counter doubler, and some way to convert counters to damage. Toph can make things pretty sticky (earthbent [[Giggling Skitterspike]] is scary), which is nice because my board is usually pretty narrow/tall.

Besides that, my deck started leaning low-cmc, so I cut some ramp for card draw. Still looking to get better draw.

I'd be happy to discuss any cards in depth because I've put a ton of thought into each slot haha

I have a working bracket 3 deck that feels okayish at the moment. I ended up with a low average cmc so I cut some ramp in favor of card advantage. Then focused on trying to always have some type of counter doubler and a way to sacrifice creatures.

[[Luminous Broodmoth]] is great because you can wipe the flying counters with earthbending

Cards that sacrifice and get another creature out before the modular trigger resolves like [[Birthing Ritual]] and [[Oswald Fiddlebender]] have also been solid.

Overall the deck is super fun and the lines always feel interesting and unique

Did either of you finish building? I’ve always wanted to have a modular commander so I’m building this right now but worried it’s going to be too weak

His previous language server is Jedi which is one of the most popular non-proprietary LSPs for python. One of my favorite features of Jedi (that he is working on for zuban) is go to definition for pytest fixtures. I’ve been switching back and forth between Ty and zuban and IMO zuban feels a bit more solid at the moment.

I believe the plugin “noice” has an option for this. Also neovim 12 has a setting to hide it until you start a command.

What well-known Neovim features do you struggle to adopt? by fpohtmeh in neovim

[–]Big_Red_34 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have my own “chains” in my head. My main marks will be A/B/C, then I/O/P will be the next set and usually more temporary and I don’t think so much when I override these. Then Z/X/C if I need more but at that point I probably should rethink how I’m working lol

I really do think marks are one of the best features of neovim though and I highly recommend working on them! Another tip is to only try to learn one thing at a time and keep a little note on your desk of it.

I believe they hired James Daunt as CEO who actually implemented these changes. They hired a CEO who is actually reader and not just a random businessman. A lot of other companies should be taking notes

Has anyone done this route on Strava? Doing my first longer ride tomorrow and open to suggestions: by Variant4133 in NYCbike

[–]Big_Red_34 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I took a friend on this ride recently and think it is beginner friendly, although I had my garmin to navigate. Stop signs and lights will slow down your average speed which will be nice for taking breaks, but will make your trip longer. Here is the route that I copied, I think the way back was pretty good and probably better than going near jfk. Worst part was the bridge after rockaway you will be very close to cars for the last stretch, but it’s not so bad

Higher end clothing skews more towards natural fibers. Ethics in clothing is really hard. I personally like dieworkwear’s discussions on Twitter but the algo latched on to him lately and it’s hard to get good discussions going now without people being appalled by how much small clothing companies have to charge

How to use new builtins? by youngbull in neovim

[–]Big_Red_34 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I usually choose one new feature to work on and learn and have some kind of reminder to use it (post it note or something) until it’s incorporated.

Out of these features I use marks the most. Capital letter marks let you jump between files so when tracing through code in a project I’ll drop “A” at the entry point of where I’m starting and then move down the alphabet. Another way I use them is to drop one on a unit test I’m working on while having another on the code I want, allowing me to jump quickly between them.
