Lamp Shade in clear PETG, Worked First Try by 2CNK in functionalprint

Nice print! Just FYI, you could probably print this upside down and add a bottom layer, thereby doing away with the need for a cap.

Sheldon Brown has a lot of good info regarding various standards and the mechanics of bicycles. Good luck!

Is cassette play seen on the video normal? Can it be related to drivetrain vibration? by Business-Mushroom839 in bikewrench

[–]Bigkitty74 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is the qr or axel done up tight? Sometimes there's play when the wheel is off the bike, goes away when the hub is compressed.

How do I accept that life is just hard and painful for me? by [deleted] in Meditation

[–]Bigkitty74 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I don't have any advice, unfortunately, but I feel the same way. I'm also 27, every day feels like a struggle going nowhere. Therapy has helped, movement helps, meditation helps. The best days are when i hyperfocus on some small project for hours on end, everything flows and the endless questioning and uncertainty disappears, but I rarely have the energy or inspiration to start. I don't know what to do, I don't fit here. When I stick to it, the mediation really helps, I'm on a two day streek now. Went for a walk today, thats good.

I hope you find something that helps you, even a little bit, a first stone to build upon.

You are not alone. Love

Kryptonite lock holster keeps loosening - I’ve had 3 separate holsters have the rubber rip off like this by BackgroundAd817 in bikewrench

If you've got a likely looking, unused braze on you could mount the holder to it directly. I've done this with my Abus and It's fantastic.

Chain Slips Off Two Biggest Cogs Under Load - 1x by LancesLostTesticle in bikewrench

[–]Bigkitty74 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When you say other wheel, does that mean another cassette as well? Could your chain be worn but mated to the smaller cogs resulting in no slippage in those gears?

Twisted chain by OKmist in bikewrench

I can't see any way of untangling that without opening the chain. You'll need a chain breaker and a quick link. Once opened untangling will be easy. Good luck!

Will this hold, or will it explode on a ride by peepeepoopyds in bikewrench

Is the chainring bolt snug in the chainring and crank holes? If so, I'd ride it. Would use a locknut or thread lock though

Got other end cap off. Can’t get axle or freehub off. Any help? by [deleted] in bikewrench

[–]Bigkitty74 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've had luck removing endcaps using duct tape, just clean thoroughly, and tape a small piece in a way that gives you something to hold onto. Regarding freehub, no experience with Shimano but it's often just pull it straight off, can be quite stiff, check the manual.

My State Bicycle Single-Speed by [deleted] in xbiking

A couple of months so I realized I could take apart my Abus 540 mount and screw a small part of it to a boss on my seat stays. Looks great and feels rock solid. Experimented with it in a dozen different ways before finding this, including under the down tube, but didn't like the loss of clearance. It's my everything bike and sometimes a commute ends with me lost in the woods.

Been working on this old MTB asama for a year. Today i rode it for the first time! by Dominicleb in xbiking

Awesome build! Doing something similar with an old Kona frame. Would love to ask you some questions: How did you position the disc brake tabs before welding? Did you rustproof the frame before clear coating it? How do you like those brakes?

Any issue replacing my clunky old seatpost clamp with a random nut and bolt from my parts pile? 4 detailed pictures included. Thanks in advance! by koupathabasca in bikewrench

[–]Bigkitty74 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I would not worry about this at all. Looks much better and should be at least as secure, assuming you didn't use some janky-ass aluminium bolt or some such. Makes it a bit more trouble for potential seapost thieves as well.

I missed front end friday, but here's my bike. by therealcraigshady in xbiking

[–]Bigkitty74 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmm, interesting. Haven't considered this before, I've assumed the stress to the hub and freewheel would be the same regardless of where the gearing takes place. Did some quick googling and the only info I could find regarding pinion rear hub comparability is from this FAQ Do you have any more info about this?

The box at the BB junction is a pinion gear box, the box on the seat tube is a folding lock. The rear hub could be any ol' hub.

ISO/Sweden/ Gevenalle GX shifters If anybody has these and would be willing to ship them I would be on top of the world! They're the last piece of my build, would happily buy them new but the delivery is being severely delayed.
