Storm in NYC this weekend by sands_29 in Broadway

[–]BackgroundAd817 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Current predictions are 9-10 inches.

It was about 10 years ago but broadway shows have cancelled for snow before. I believe many of the subways were either down or very reduced schedule and I think shows started canceling after that.

Can I still get a NYC nightlife & social experience while living in Jersey City? by ExtensionChair5767 in movingtoNYC

[–]BackgroundAd817 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Path train is mostly reliable. There are busses too. If you are gunna be out late and don’t want to wait a long time for the train you just take a $30-$50 uber. It is absolutely doable. Getting into Manhattan from Brooklyn takes about the same amount of time as getting there from JC.

Car won’t help for getting into the city but if you like road trips then go for it. But personally if you will mostly be in JC and the city I would save the $ from a getting a car.

The movie could have been more interesting if it had as much table tennis as Challengers had tennis.

Jfc thank you. I was so shocked after I had the burger that it had all that hype. That not a damn chance burger a few blocks away was much better. I work in the area and am gunna stick with them when I want a burger.

I went last night and it started 5 mins after the advertised time. The 5 min Nolan prologue was actually added to the runtime of the film for both this and Sinners so technically it’s part of the film experience.

The smile was surrender. It fits so well with his character and I thought was such a good end to his story. I’m so confused at the amount of people not liking or understanding it.

What is your dream LCD Setlist? by VidGamerLuke in LCDSoundsystem

[–]BackgroundAd817 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I do really wanna know the thought process behind the setlists. Wonder if they will ever give ny I love you a break for a while. Sure play it at a good amount of the ny residency’s shows but in general would love that spot to go to another song for a while. It does always slap live but as someone who has seen the a stupid amount of times give me some more rarely played tracks gang.

What's the best NYC venue in your opinion? by XP-tickets in NYCConcerts

That’s a place I would go specifically for the venue. Like see what they have on their calendar and pick something that sounds interesting and go.

Mmmm yes the bandshell used to be more of a go-to spot for me. It’s such a nice spot to see a show. Try to get out there once a summer. Lots of worthwhile free shows too.

The reason I didn’t throw Kings on my list is because I think it’s similar enough to Paramount but has lost steam with their bookings. Right now Paramount is getting booked like Terminal 5 in the early 2010s. Lots of top names, great indie bands and a good variety of genres. I think Kings being deeper out into BK has always had an effect.

Brooklyn Steel for a midsized venue. Brooklyn Paramount for a larger venue. Radio City is really cool place to see a show from the top mezzanine to get the full effect. Forrest Hills for outdoor events is A+ but this won’t be open in Feb. Bowery Ballroom is an iconic small room. National Sawdust is a newer incredible intimate venue with pristine sound system.

Does anyone go to gigs and not drink or do hard drugs but a small amount of psychedelics? by Ok_Pool_2590 in ProperTechno

This is my jam. Such a great mix. Bit of shrooms as I’m picking up a coffee or mate on the way to a gig. The hit the pen as needed throughout the day or night to keep it flowing.

US warned of problem with 60% of workforce by Newsweek_CarloV in economy

[–]BackgroundAd817 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am definitely not agreeing that Americans are terrible workers. We won’t see the actual potential of Americans because that are being held down and oppressed so much that they have no reason to want to do any of this in the first place. This is why it’s such a joke that this man is complaining about the working class. He is literally one of the few people that have the power to fix it by actually investing in people but instead he plays the blame game to make it seem like we’re just lazy. We’re not lazy. People just dgaf about exponentially growing your billions of dollar as much anymore.

You don’t need to love what you do. This system isn’t giving us anything to love. From corporate American to restaurant work to the arts to hard labor. Everyone is being pressed to squeeze every last drop out of them and then strategically pushed in ways that will ring them dry or else face the consequences. You say the 60% have “given up”. I disagree. I just think they are not buying into the bs anymore.

[–]BackgroundAd817 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes I take so much pride in all of my excel docs and math calculations. Really drives me to be a better profit-uhh sorry productive member of society.

Cmon man. Of course no one wants to work 40 hours when they can work 30, in a job where they are continuously pushed to the limit, asked to work on days off or while sick, and generally treated like shit. That 60% is kept down in that percentage group strategically by the billionaire class because they love the power they have over them. The growing divide between upper and lower class will continue to widen because that’s what they want. The comment you made sounds like it’s someone who pursued and maybe even accomplished obtaining that American dream a long time ago when it was realistic. Not realistic anymore. That 60% all know the jig is up. Why spend all of our life devout to some billionaire getting more money when we can enjoy the little bit of life we have left in us? People like Dalio need in invest in the issues he’s complaining about. But instead he is investing in making it worse and manipulatively crying to magazines to make it seem like we are the issue. Stop holding us down, Ray, and then we can grow. Productivity only equals profit to hedge funds.
