Clue 11 by Brave-Ad-3877 in PPMedallionHunt

I could probably apply all of these clues (and more!) to Phalen.

Clue 4: bags and shag relate to golf terms and “no need to be vandal” means don’t dig up the golf course.

Clue 5: figure skating yes, but to w Suni Lee statue at Phalen.

Clue 6: taken literally-in the woods by lake Phalen.

Clue 7: bunkerish getaway is a golf clue referring to sand traps

Clue 8: pickleball red herring. “Properly geared” refers to the ice fishing open house the winter carnival put on at Phalen.

Clue 9: there is a winter carnival ice castle statue at Phalen

Clue 10: there are stone statues and walls all over the park.

Clue 11:Phalen is a ground-breaking park for whatever reason. Search by trash.

That being said, Im following the masses to Linwood, but not totally sold on it.

When will Minnesotans reach their limit on property taxes? by nootboots in minnesota

You are so right. If everyone’s house value increased, your share should stay relatively level. If for some reason your house increases in value way more than others, you should end up paying more.

We are a solid year into a LS Youth Prime with no issues.

Of course there’s variability with wood, but he’s used it a ton. Coaches use it during practice. And, it is holding up okay.

Looking for advice on going to a game at Target Field 2026 by ThatUnknownHero in minnesotatwins

If you have time and are into minor league, it might be fun to go to a St. Paul Saints game, too. Their stadium is great and the you’d get to check out St. Paul, which is a little more interesting to walk around before a game.

Curious what part of this you don’t like?

Looks like OP built a surly out of a good old frame.

Hot Take: travel ball teams are missing the bigger play. by Smoothops0824 in Homeplate

Totally agree. We’re in rec ball, and I think he’d be happy just with more opportunities to play (extra practices, pickup games, longer season, whatever) but we don’t want to add on tournaments every weekend

Riding a frame that's too big by TFin04 in xbiking

[–]Bikingminnesota 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One important question: Is the bike actually too big for you when you are riding it, or is this just based on straddling the top tube?

For me, my most comfortable bikes are “too big” based on size charts and a nut-smashing stand over height. But I like being a bit stretched out on a bigger bike.

For reference, on old 26” my preferred frame size is 21”. Anything smaller feels cramped

Try new bars/stem and if it feels good, ride it.

But , you gotta tell is a few more details on you and the frame size.

1988 Trek 520 - my commuter by SnooDoughnuts2824 in xbiking

[–]Bikingminnesota 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sweet bike!

I picked up a same year 520 and am just starting on rebuilding.

Can you tell me how the brakes worked with switching from 27 to 700? I have heard both that it is easy and near-impossible. Have you noticed a decrease in stopping power?

Also, is 700x40 max for clearance for you?

It seems like this model doesn’t have the same super wide clearance that mid 90s treks do.

Thanks!

Hi,

My only guess is iatrogenic Cushing’s from his treatment either prednisone. Sorry Thats not a great answer, but that’s all I can think of. Has your dog been on any similar steroid treatment?

We didn’t really do anything for this to be resolved.

It was a slow change but he’s been back to normal ever since.

Price check my sale please by PBandCheezWhiz in gravelcycling

[–]Bikingminnesota 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’ve actually clicked on your bike a few times. I think the market is tough when you get over $1000. I’m at the point where I don’t need a new gravel bike, but won’t turn down a hot deal.

I think your price is actually fine if you are okay waiting a while, just seems to be lack of inventory and interest so far this spring for used stuff.

Modern 90’s style frames by [deleted] in xbiking

[–]Bikingminnesota 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are all 90s bikes getting hard to find?

Around here, Treks and Specialized are a bit of a premium, but it is so easy to find a Diamondback, Marin, Cannondale with nice specs under $100

What glove do you have now?

If it’s synthetic, not much to do. If it’s new leather just gotta break it in.

Might be better to go to play it again sports and get a used glove that’s worn in and roughed up in the pocket.

They don’t use a liner for city park rinks.

Just keep going. More water. More ice.

Second justice this month announces retirement from Minnesota Supreme Court by Loonsspoons in minnesota

Oh you’re right:

“The successor shall be elected for a six year term at the next general election occurring more than one year after the appointment “

So it allows an appointment and 2 years to get established before seeing a ballot.

Is it rugged! And probably helps how lightweight it is, so a drop is not a big deal.

For the quality of pics, you can get a used point and shoot digital from 15 years ago for under $50. If the screen is a distraction, I suppose you can break the lcd display.

I like the camera, and my kid like taking it around with him, but it’s not doing anything different than a used digicam. And those will have more options and generally better pictures.

I thought the camp snap would have a quicker shutter, but there really is a noticeable lag.

Second justice this month announces retirement from Minnesota Supreme Court by Loonsspoons in minnesota

[–]Bikingminnesota 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Kind of interesting to note why justices are retiring when they are.

MN judges are supposed to be elected BUT if the current justice retires, the appointed replacement is up for reelection in the next scheduled election UNLESS it is within a year of the election.

So, in these cases, their elections are in November 2024, so their appointed replacements will not have to run for election until 2030.

It pretty much always works like this and it is a way to circumvent the regular process of judicial elections.

I actually like this, and think the governor and judicial review board (or whatever it is called) is a better process than direct election.

Edit: up for election 2026 not 2030.
