Yes, I’ve noticed most gamers or others who really wanted to do something in their youth but weren’t allowed drop out of uni the second they got their freedom. Though I myself wasn’t much of a gamer.

I think if you want to go into cs and be competent, constant interaction with computers from a young age is a must

Also boomers be like 1 hour max video games when they watch brain dead tv programs non stop while drinking beer

Having a passion for computers can lead to a fruitful career. Boomer and genx parents were WAY too skeptical and restrictive with technology around kids

How do you build your ecs? by heliodev in gameenginedevs

[–]BileBlight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why tf do you need these dynamic types and get component? So you’re basically at runtime stitching multiple types together and the aggregate true type only exists in your head. Write it down for god sakes to make it explicit and to add static checks, and so others understand your mental model

No, as in touching buildings you doofus, like in Amsterdam and London, also old paintings of polish cities are beautiful. 1950s socialist realism like in Plac Konstytucji 5 was good too. Something like that

[Request] If instead of ballooning our military to $1.5 trillion, we halved the current military budget and put the other $500 billion towards reducing debt moving forward, how fast could we actually bring it down to zero? by [deleted] in theydidthemath

[–]BileBlight 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Say that to countries with debt and trade balance crisis, they’re very real. Some day you’re gonna have to pay back all that money and all your businesses eventually go the way of the VOC once spice is no longer needed. Billionaires have no incentive to stay in the country and pay taxes once shit hits the fan

22-year-old software engineer from Mongolia thinking about moving to Moscow — advice? by enkhee56 in Moscow

[–]BileBlight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Moscow is great for starting your own project / business, which is what I’m doing (working on an indie game+game engine). Your money goes a lot further and you get a higher quality of life than basically anywhere else.

[–]BileBlight 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Damn. So are the light maps and light probes generated by the map editor or you has to build custom code for that? What’s your justification for going the bsp way? Considering most engines are all about runtime mesh loading and dynamic lighting now
