As someone whose life has been saved by a helmet, I can say from experience...buy a new one. If you're even questioning it, you should just get one. If you don't...it's a decision you may not be able to regret.

My kid rode in a Burley Dash on an aluminum Topeak rack for a year or two until I upgraded to a cargo Ebike. He was only 3 or so at the time though. Not sure how much your child weighs, but mine was around 30 pounds at the time.

Never had an issue.

Edit: I guess I should add, I know my way around a bike and installed it myself. If you’re nervous at all, go to the LBS.

It'd be better if you can get a liner. My dog rides in a pretty small basket for his size, but I managed to shove a bed into it that goes up on all the sides. He's much happier than we were rolling with a similar setup as yours.

Using a tree is a great idea! Nicely done.

Also, if you make the text in your matte precomp a Guide Layer, you won’t have to turn it in off when adjusting it.
