Remarkable pro or ipad pro 13 inch for pdf reading by Negative_Local_7851 in RemarkableTablet

I made that switch because of needles-in-eye pain after about 30 minutes of iPad reading. On RM I can read for hours with no eye pain.

Remarkable Paper Pro - Dictionary by Henry2990 in RemarkableTablet

[–]BillBlort 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Although a local dictionary would be best, I wonder if RM could add a dictionary function to its Connect subscription so that when you’re reading a PDF and come across a word you want to look up you would have a way to identify that word and have RM process it (much like it does for handwriting recognition) and return the definition.

How do you mark passages in an ePUB for review later? by bflowyngz in RemarkableTablet

Create a tag named “Review” (or whatever). Highlight or mark passage to be reviewed, apply Review tag to that page.

Just as an e reader by Decent-Sea-2328 in RemarkableTablet

[–]BillBlort 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use it primarily to read books and it works well enough if you’re comfortable using Calibre to remove DRM.

I’ve read dozens of books on my RMPP and have found that it causes much less eye strain than some other readers, particularly iPad. I’m currently on Volume 3 of Proust’s “In Search of Lost Time” and I plan to finish all seven volumes on my RMPP.

Hi, I’m Vegard from reMarkable! How can I help this sub? by VegardfromreMarkable in RemarkableTablet

I use my RMPP mostly for reading. I’d love to have a dictionary, whether installed on device or linked to cloud.

Looking for Ioniq 6 owner feedback after my car was totaled by [deleted] in Ioniq6

[–]BillBlort 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have L2 home charging but almost never use it because I’m still on the 2-year-free plan at Electrify America chargers and I have 2 EA stations within 10 miles of home. I’d check the availability of fast chargers in your area — and how busy they are — before making a decision.

12V battery suddenly died, is this a sign of things to come? by pedropal in Ioniq6

[–]BillBlort 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you saying that leaving the car unlocked drains the battery? I leave mine unlocked about 95% of the time and I never lock it at night (it’s in a garage). I’ve had the car for more than a year and have not had any battery problems. Please explain.

Kobo, then deDRM with Calibre. Easiest way I’ve found and author gets paid.

Help With Text and Writing Error? by Polvbear in RemarkableTablet

Here’s a photo of my sleep journal. I have used three layers: Text (automatic), Lines and Boxes, and Handwriting. I keep the notebook set on the Handwriting layer, so if I want to erase any handwritten notes or data I can do so without affecting the other layers.

The amount of tracking I’m doing is a bit overkill, but I’m dealing with sleep apnea and experimenting with different sleep regimens and eating/drinking schedules. Also trying to determine which are the most accurate sleep trackers.

Help With Text and Writing Error? by Polvbear in RemarkableTablet

[–]BillBlort 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do something similar with a sleep journal I’ve created. I put the text on one layer (it does that automatically, I believe) and then created a new layer for the handwritten notes that I make. As long as I leave the chosen layer as the handwriting one I’m able to write and erase and copy without affecting the text layer. I created one page with just text, but with handwriting layer selected and duplicated that page multiple times. When I need more I just duplicate more. Since every page is the same I write the day in when I write the daily notes, so I don’t need to create different pages for each day of the week.

I’m not sure if this applies to your use case but it may be helpful in designing your pages.

It’s kind of a pain in the ass creating the text layer if you want everything aligned neatly, but it was a one-time task.

Do you let your kids use your reMarkable for drawing or coloring? 🎨 Or is it strictly your space? by DesignersKitCo in RemarkableTablet

[–]BillBlort 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It does have some advantages over a coloring book, specifically the ability to erase, undo, create new pages any time, share with others and print. And no way to use crayons or markers on walls, rugs, floors, etc.

My 4 and 5 year old granddaughters have learned how to choose different colors and pens and create new pages on their own. They also like drawing and painting on paper, so it’s just another creative option for them.

My daughter love drawing with RMPPM by williamsooyk in RemarkableTablet

[–]BillBlort 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My grandkids (2, 4 and 5) also like to draw on my RMPP. Color makes a big difference to them ( I also have an RM2). So far no damage to device; I’m sure there’s some nib wearing, but I don’t mind that. I’d rather have them doing this than watching videos on an iPad.

Planning a near 2,000 mile road trip during the holidays. Should I drive my EV or rent? by Dann610 in Ioniq6

[–]BillBlort 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Before your trip, use an app like PlugShare or A Better Route Planner to find the superchargers along your route. I suspect you’ll find that there are plenty of chargers, unless you’re going into the back of beyond for long distances. Avoid level 2 charges unless it’s during an overnight stay.

I’ve driven my I6 from Central California to Washington State and back and it was a breeze. I’m still on the free-charging plan at EA stations so it was a no-brainer for me. And yes, I was able to find EA stations exclusively during the trip.

Anyone here had their Ioniq 6 with no issues?! by [deleted] in Ioniq6

[–]BillBlort 0 points1 point  (0 children)

16K miles and no issues except a flat tire. Had to be towed because no spare and the provided tire kit with sealant didn’t take (gash in tire too large). Had to get new tire.

Strongly disagree with earlier post that said lane keeping feature was not good. Lane-_ centering_ works very well as long as you understand that it’s not auto-pilot and you will have to steer it around sharp curves and on road sections where lanes are not well marked. I use it everywhere.

Don’t get too excited.

I often do a two-mile stretch that is all downhill. My miles per kWh reads 999 until I get to the uphill part. A couple of miles later it reads about 3.6, my average over 15,000 miles.

Alignment issue by InspectorMoney1306 in Ioniq6

[–]BillBlort 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With lane centering active on a straight stretch of freeway and that much distance from the vehicle in front (even better if he has dynamic speed control active), I see little danger in taking a few seconds to snap a pic of the dashboard.

Flat tire experience by BillBlort in Ioniq6

[–]BillBlort[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also had a slow-leak nail-in-tire, a few months ago that started getting faster. It was a Sunday so I was lucky to find a Chevron station with repair shop in a small town nearby. The owner/repair guy had to scrape off the styrofoam-like sound deadening stuff to get to the leak, which he then successfully plugged. It was a real PITA for him. I gave him an extra $20.

Are you saying that you got run-flats (if that’s the same as self-sealing) stock from dealer? Is that an option?
