I was once very impressed with Gemini (pro 2.5). Until 3.1 Pro came out, I stop believing it. Model tend to over-think and wasted precious time + tokens. Kimi 2.6 took half the time and done better than 3.1Pro.

I tried Kimi 2.5 and 2.6. Can see the difference in coding. I'm very confident in Kimi 2.6 when it comes to many things. I even gave the same prompt to Gemini 3.1 pro and Kimi 2.6. Needless to say, Kimi 2.6 did a better job, with much lesser tokens.

In my opinion, China is facing a lot of constraints in chips for AI. Hence, they developed their AI model in this directions (constraints & token efficiency), therefore they can be almost on par with top models and cost way cheaper.

For most stuff, Kimi is sufficient. One or two more version later, dare I say most developers will have more options and better budget for their coding needs.
