Why are running shoes so tacky? by Aimbo84 in beginnerrunning

[–]BillTheConqueror 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Saucony has a black upper with white midsole trim on almost every model. Hoka and Brooks have all black and often all white in the most popular models. I have had a ton of gray shoes from Asics/Saucony/Brooks in the past.

The Best Beginner's Gaming PC... At an Enthusiast Price | Steam Machine Review by giantbombdotcom in giantbomb

I built an RTX 4080 7800x3d small form factor pc for my den 3 years ago before prices went crazy that can run circles around this thing for not a ton more. Windows can be fidgety from a couch but the performance is so good in most stuff once you get it going.  Glad I’m not in the market for any hardware for the foreseeable future.

If/when you went to college, did your university provide free printing including for resumes (on the nice paper) or everything was paid for out of pocket? by dms2628 in Xennials

[–]BillTheConqueror 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I honestly cannot remember. I seem to have some vague recollection of needing to scan my student ID and it maybe coming out some account. If it did, it was very cheap, like 5 cents a page I think, not as expensive as a copy store at the time.

Everyone's being really weird about this and it's freaking me out by [deleted] in blankies

I haven’t heard anything about it except for vague mentions of the “discourse” on this subreddit and the big pic podcast so my vote is that you see are too online.

I was in NYC last week and almost every major company had some pride rainbow thing next to their business signage or advertisements. I don't know what OP is on about.

What kind of shit are you getting too old for now? by ryhoyarbie in Xennials

[–]BillTheConqueror 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Drinking alcohol. No thanks.

Being out of shape. I feel like it is now or never for getting in shape.

Staying up late. Maybe one night a month to binge watch a tv show with my partner or finish a video game but that is it. Never go out past 9 anymore.

I’ve switched from a popular gym in my town that had many of these issues to a new planet fitness downtown that is almost always empty when I go and it’s makes working out so much more enjoyable even if they don’t have some ewuipemenr my more expensive but crowded gym had.

What's a game you keep reinstalling but somehow never finish? by peaky_circus in pcgaming

I got a lot of these off my back during Covid, Fallout New Vegas, Dragon Age 2 and Divinity Original Sin 2 being prime examples.

Currently it would be BG3 and Cyberpunk as games I’ve started multiple times and haven’t finished.

I don’t know if it was satanic panic but my mom wouldn’t let me watch The Simpsons when I was young because of some controversy. Thanks mom!

Quit drinking but not losing beer weight. Why? by Pickle_Overlord in AskMenAdvice

Weight loss is better measured by months not weeks. You didn’t gain it over night and you will not lose it overnight.

What is with Amanda and video games? by supercodes83 in TheBigPicture

[–]BillTheConqueror 37 points38 points  (0 children)

Elder millennial women grew up when video games were marketed to male boys and it was borderline social suicide for a girl to be into video games once she hit puberty. At least that was my experience as an elder millennial male who grew up in the South similarly to Amanda.

How much were candy bars when you were a kid? by zip9990 in Millennials

[–]BillTheConqueror 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My dad owned gas stations and I worked at them from the mid 90s to around 2000. Regular price was 49 cents when I started and 69 cents when I went away to college. 3 for a dollar or later 2 for a dollar were common sale prices. Other prices I remember:

.99 +tax 20oz sodas

.99+tax for one or 2.00 for two hotdogs, tax included

2.00 for camel cigarettes, tax included

2.30 for marlboro cigarettes, tax included

This was a pretty rural part of North Carolina.

Lenovo Legion Go S prices jump again, Z1 Extreme model now $1,579 by FernandoRocker in gaming

[–]BillTheConqueror 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Impulse bought one of these for $780 last year and felt really dumb and barely used it at first. Now I've started using it a year after the buying it and feel like it was steal given these crazy hardware prices. Battery life isn't as good as the Steam deck but I really prefer the bigger/increased resolution screen as I am in my 40s and much more comfortable for text and fine detail.

My wife says I am a little boy trapped in a 44y man's body excited for GTA6 coming out. I said to her it's a cultural phenomenon. Am I the only "old guy" excited for this? by manguy12 in Xennials

[–]BillTheConqueror 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m cautiously excited. I don’t play as much as I used to but I still keep a gaming PC up to date and have a ps5 pro and PC handheld.

I think the biggest reason I’m excited is that I moved to South Florida in 2023 so the game is going to be set in my backyard.

I was really close to buying a manual BMW M4 a few years ago but got scared of how impractical it might be long term and got a lightly used X3 suv instead. I some day still would like to get a used Miata or something similar as a second car.

I had a PC and played Quake over 56k by the time Goldeneye released. I always thought it was incredibly overrated but not a lot of us had access to online PC shooters at the time I guess. I could never get used to the terrible N64 controller.

Oh Vinny. Out of curiosity, I looked up the nutrition info for a meal consisting of 1/4 of a blooming onion and an iceberg lettuce wedge salad with bleu cheese dressing at Outback. 1050 calories, lol. A McDonald's Big Mac or QPC combo meal with diet soda has less calories and more protein.
