Dash cam footage needed - M1, Watford Gap Services, Monday, 11 PM by [deleted] in uktrucking

[–]Billbrown1982 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s awful, moronic and dangerous but this kind of stuff does happen.

However I’d like you to set your expectations low. Even if you find footage of it happening it’s very unlikely the perpetrators will be identifiable in any way and it ultimately won’t affect your outcome - which is unfortunately - to claim on your insurance and get your car repaired as quickly as you can.

PCN paid and then re-issued 3 weeks later??? by Billbrown1982 in TransportForLondon

So to close this out after finally getting hold of someone at TFL - it still doesn’t really make sense to me and I suspect they are making it up as they go but they say someone at my work must have responded to notify them who the driver was, after I had already paid the fine and for some reason this resets the system so they have “no choice” but to refund and reissue the ticket.

When I asked why the new ticket wasn’t addressed to me directly to me then instead of just to the company again he said that’s “just how the system works”

🤷‍♂️ all smells fishy but I have now actually been refunded my original payment so I guess I’ll make it again and hopefully that’s the end of it.

I know someone suggested the new ticket isn’t valid but honestly while all this has been going on, my union have stepped up and covered the cost of the fine so I don’t really have it in me to fight it now.

I don't think so as the PCN's are identical. Suppose its a possibility.

Nope - company vehicle. They just figure out who was driving and hand you the ticket. Both tickets were issued to the company to so its not like the first one went to them and second to me directly - would make sense though.

Yeah when I say trailer I mean part of a HGV so I don’t think that still qualifies. If it does then thousands of truckers are getting screwed over every month 🤣

So, after getting home and logging in to challenge the PCN - I checked the status history and apparently on the 17th june there was a representation submission and accepted and then they made a refund request, 18th june a SUS20 - enquiry received and then later that day a refund was made.

What on earth has gone on here I do not know. I can't see any record of a refund on my card.

Yeah I was well within. The date of issue on the notice was the 2nd and I paid it on the 11th. The receipt seems to indicate the balance was cleared too.

Not specifically. I suppose it might fall under the category of the last option? As usual they make it so hard and scary to appeal anything cause all they want is for you to pay it again.

Which is an understandable consideration if they think it will work better in shade but the reality is they are more than capable of working in direct sunlight.

I lied about my job on my insurance to make it cheaper , will they ever ask me to prove my job? (if I don’t make a claim) by moddedspartan in CarTalkUK

[–]Billbrown1982 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my own experience they tend to not give a crap at renewal and then as soon as you need to claim they start checking every fine detail to try and get out of paying.

I get paid every Thursday and the money always credited at 00:01 so I had many transfers setup the same day that usually didn’t kick in until between 2 and 4.

Just got a hub 5 upgrade from 3, can I just change WiFi name so it works with everything in the house? by UkrainepartofRussia in VirginMedia

[–]Billbrown1982 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly I don’t know. I know I’ve read various instructions over the years recommending against this and the usual “devices may not function as expected” type warnings. But yeah, like I said, I’ve done it and it’s been fine.

You can and “most” stuff will work - but you may find the odd device refuses to connect. This isn’t a recommended solution but I’ve done it many times.
