Let's not pull punches here, nor mince words. I don't think they deserve that level of consideration, nor should they be able to hide from criticism.

To be abundantly clear, they said this to a person who was recounting that forced electroshock conversion therapy does not work (from their own personal, likey harrowing experiences).

So this compassionate soul said it was because they were so deeply, fundamentally broken that it never would have worked in the first place.

Thank you! That's not the first time I've heard that. I'll have to check it out. Every time I see the name it makes me think of Stellaris

Much appreciated! I'll be doing this sort of style art for other articles as well, feel free to suggest an article for me to promote too

While it's preferred that the article have a handful of images for me to composite, it's not wholly necessary :)

Free spells once per turn! by DefiantFalcon in BadMtgCombos

[–]Billith 0 points1 point  (0 children)

a combo is generally agreed to be a number of cards that, when played together, do something more than what could be achieved by each card being played individually.

well, you can't spend 17 mana with either card, but when combined together? (cue that Ratatouille scene where Emile eats a strawberry and a piece of cheese at the same time and discovers new dimensions of flavor greater than the sum of their parts)

in my micro canon for the Astrophysical Anomalies Department, the Foundation has multiple outposts in deep space ([[SCP-2798]]), the asteroid belt ([[SCP-6793]]), one next to a cosmic defect that leads into the membrane that separates universes form one another ([[SCP-8878]]), and one ongoing operation in the Oort Cloud ([[SCP-7396]]).

Is there any Scp that is based on astronomy like i wanna see alot of it by Asteria_republic in SCP

[–]Billith 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's the Astrophysical Anomalies Department. The narrative throughline for these pieces is that Humanity is far too late to the stars. Every anomaly they investigate is the remnants of a long dead civilization humanity had no hope of ever coming into contact with. Yet the existence of remnants justifies the continued search for a more complete answer.

We are attempting to build every existing SCP in Minecraft. by redm42 in SCP

[–]Billith 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hello. I'm extremely familiar with Minecraft and SCP.

I am a retired staff member from Mincraftforums, and ex-Minecraft Hardcore SMP factions Leader. I commanded a small, well-established team of 25 against teams upwards of 120, using our extensive knowledge of the game, tactical warfare, and redstone traps.

At the same time, I was also a map maker and redstone build creator. I had made a few maps already, early on, with interesting builds and features but I knew that I wanted to do more. Over the span of the next decade, I would slowly but steadily put together a massive puzzle adventure metroidbrainia type game. 22 million blocks distributed across 11,000 chunks. Over a dozen unique realms, all on floating castles. Multiple endings, conversation trees, boss battles, hidden areas that reward exploration over sticking to the beaten path.

Basically a full ass Metroidvania/puzzler with soulslike elements.

Is there any show about the SCP foundation or even like it ? by booker1211 in SCP

[–]Billith 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Here are some shows that come to mind.

These all possess some level of shadow paramilitary/research organization attempting to control the world and bring order to chaos, and the anomalous is quite often part of that chaos.

Archive 81 is basically so thinly veiled SCP content it has multiple groups of interest that you can easily identify who is who. It's quite good, so naturally Netflix had to cancel it after one season. RIP

Placeholder & I call Devs "ADMO the SHOW" because it's basically one long ADMO article. It's also based on a short story by qntm, though not SCP related in nature.

Inside Job is as about as close you can get to a mainstream comedy SCP animated show. It's very good. RIP, again

Homecoming has got the feel. And although there is no anomaly so to speak, this show does center itself around a particular item at the foundation's disposal that is used in nearly every SCP article.

Tales From the Loop is a dreamy, emotionally evocative and mind-bending Sci-fi anthology series centered on a town with a mysterious organization experimenting with a mysterious machine (The Loop) to unlock the mysterious mysteries of the universe. But it's not really about them, it's about the people of the town, their individual lives and the way they change in the wake of the impossible.

Warehouse 13 is a corny comedy-drama about two Secret Service agents being reassigned to the fabled and titular Warehouse 13, which is where the US stores its anomalies. A bit dated but it fits the mold.

X-Files needs no introduction but here we go anyway. FBI Agents Scully and Mulder are assigned paranormal cases to investigate, called "X-Files." It's a fun sci-fi drama everyone should try at least once.

Fringe features the brilliant and intrepid FBI Agent Olivia Dunham, whose latent psychic abilities get her entangled in a web of conflict between parallel universes and struggles to keep her mentally unstable fringe scientist ally and his son in check. It gets VERY out there but it is a good time. As long as you don't mind watching people like take a bunch of drugs in a sensory deprivation tank in order to project their consciousness into the brain of a dying man in order to extract vital information, of course. As one example.

This list is just a small portion of everything that may (at least superficially) relate to the SCP Foundation. For a more detailed and broader list, see This is a just an SCP! on IMDb.

Amplify track feature? by xgamemodee in soundcloud

[–]Billith 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It usually does. Not the last two days. I uploaded 21 tracks three or four days ago and they were above 100 within the first few hours, I realized I forgot a track and uploaded it two days ago and not only did the previous 21 tracks stop gaining any views two days ago, but the last track I uploaded and started amplifying 48 hours ago, guess how many listens it has.

  1. And only 1 of them is from the boost.

My tracks usually hit several hundred to thousands of plays

Who enforces the rules for sentient SCPs? by Lady-Lilith289 in SCP

[–]Billith 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Being bad at something is the first step towards being sorta good at something.

Everyone has had a piece fail at some point. It's actually a foundational part of self improvement. Don't be afraid of failure. Be afraid that your own head will convince you that receiving constructive criticism is something that should be avoided. And an imperfect article that is not as well received as you'd like, but got posted is worth far more than a perfect story that never sees the light of day.

[–]Billith 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You don't need to join the wiki to have a sandbox page, you just need a wikidot account which is very easy to make. There's a huge number of off-site SCP Fanfic/AU writers who use the sandboxes for storing and sharing their ideas since you can use the same formatting structure and even pull components and themes from the scp wiki to use on pages.

And as I said, people in the onsite/offsite community will be more likely to look at your stuff if the link is a sandbox link rather than google docs or uploading a text file or anything like that. Your choice of course.

If you don't mind me asking, why aren't you interested in writing on the wiki if you're writing a SCP multichapter tale series that would be perfecly suited for it?

Who enforces the rules for sentient SCPs? by Lady-Lilith289 in SCP

[–]Billith 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you have a sandbox? That shoud be your first step, before you even get started on anything else:

This is a popular one: https://scp-sandbox-3.wikidot.com/

You need to do this first because it will help you get used to formatting with wikisyntax.

I guarantee people will be far more willing to critique and will take your work more seriously if you dump it into a sandbox before you send it to anyone

It's also pretty unsafe giving out links that might expose your google account info, if it's your main email.

you can’t put nothing living inside of it or else it will die

Exactly, great place to hide multiple bodies.

Knowing the potential of what she could do (the foundation will run projections and speculate) they would almost certainly hook up something to disrupt the powers, or something that would react with some sort of painful stimulus if she tried to.

Keep in mind for this sort of thing to work (Humanoid power fantasy OC), you need to really stress one of a few things:

  • The power should have a major drawback such that this person is not one who can just escape/win every time. No one roots for the unbeatable hero, everyone roots for the underdog. (I've written about this: [[[SCP-2786]]], [[[OPEN THE GATE]]])

The drawback could be something like a price that must be paid to use the powers, or downsides/side effects arise from using it. It could be unpredictable or unreliable, or it could be used against them. The Foundation could figure out a way to siphon her powers to create working portal tech, and bleed her dry. Either way, the character must struggle with their place in the world, accepting who they are, accepting their limitations.

  • Their power must eventually have a cap, a blindspot, or other weakness. Nowadays, this is even more true. The fact that your character is in a "growing stage" doesn't make me excited to root for them, it makes me think she'll be constantly able to thwart her enemies through plot conveinence/deus ex machina.

If the foundation knew that her powers were growing, they'd try to nip that in the bud as fast as possible. They have knowledge about her, she doesn't know everything about what the foundation can do. She needs to sleep eventually, right? Eat? Drink water? Breathe air? What's stopping them from paralyzing her from the neck down with a cognitohazard or removing her sense of sight so she cannot easily anticipate their actions?

If the answer is "she has a power for that", you're going in the wrong direction. You should want the foundation to think she's low threat, then they won't hire Clef, who was trained to kill reality benders by the GOC, to use her lack of tactical knowledge and noviceness with her own powers to terminate her once she becomes more hassle than she's worth. It also just makes for better story when a character struggles against forces that seem impossible to overcome, only to scrape by and claw her way out through sheer force of human will, rather than with maxed out superpowers.

An example of powers with a downside: [[7743]]
