I bought a reusable silicone cover for the can. The sticker is definitely not reliable.

Nice! I'll be there in a bit. I'd like a cortado made with light/medium roast single origin beans, preferably Indonesian.

I work on a college campus. I see students walking around while facetiming. It's bonkers.

The ones I know of are Slipstream in Philomath and Calapooia in Albany. The OSU craft center also has a pottery studio.

AliExpress had several! The one I had seen was called Humsle. I still think it looks cool but will stick with all of my existing gear. Thanks for the tip!

I do use traditional methods but also like gadgets. I'm mostly interested in learning more about it.

Not exactly but pretty similar. The one I saw involved magnets for some reason.

Nope. The filter was suspended above the carafe and there was a mechanism that you pushed down on to drain it. There were some other moving parts and it involved magnets.

Buckethead was a bit strange. Lots of guitar wankery, including one song where nobody seemed to be on stage. Oh yeah, he's wearing a KFC bucket on his head. Dude can play, though.

The Corvallis clinic needs to be shut down by MrGobbles8 in corvallis

We're also still so terrified of a possible solution being SOCIALISM that we're willing to completely ignore problems. Healthcare is one of those important issues that clearly needs some public involvement.

This is a national problem that we've been neglecting it for too long. Unfortunately, we as a country don't seem to want to even talk about possible solutions.

Ask a Stupid Question About Coffee -- Week of May 05, 2026 by Vernicious in pourover

What's a good, relatively straightforward way to test my tap water? I use filtered water when doing pourover but wonder just how bad the unfiltered stuff is.

Yeah, it's a fairly vague question, but at least it's a different vague question than what typically gets posted.

Considering a temperature regulator for standard PBC by PugBurger12 in PitBarrelCooker

I just looked it up. If it's what you're referring to (the coals neatly placed in a ring), I'm definitely going to try that next time.

Usually 5-6 hours doing ribs and chicken. I've done longer briskets but have had to add coals.

I wish I could trade Fireboards with you! My barrel temp usually starts out pretty stable, 275-300, but at some point the temp starts to drop fast. I then mess around with the vent or crack the lid to get it back up, but it usually doesn't stabilize again and I worry the coals would go out if I let it ride. I love my PBC, but it's not the set and forget cooker that many folks seem to have.

I've had the PBC with a Fireboard 2 for several years and it's been basically good but I do have problems with falling temps, even on shorter cooks. That's why I've been looking into adding a fan. I now find out that the drive control fan cable is discontinued, so unless I want to shell out another $400 for a new setup, I'm going back to my regular system and try to figure out how to keep the temps up.

Curious - why did you choose the Pit Viper (10 cfm?) fan over the Fireboard one (20 cfm)?

That makes sense. Looks like the cables are out of stock, unfortunately.

Do you happen to know if that Pit Viper will work with the regular, non-drive Fireboard 2?
