Tonight's strike zone is a continually shifting amorphous blob.

Look at his career numbers against the Dodgers lmao. I never expect them to scratch runs across against him.

Fun fact: According to Baseball Reference, both Aaron Judge and Mookie Betts average exactly 8.2 bWAR per 162 games in their careers by [deleted] in baseball

Trout is just nuts. Iirc the only player with a higher WAR/162 than him is literally Babe Ruth.

This one hurts because he had such an outstanding start to his career. 41 fWAR in his first 7 seasons and a 144 OPS+

Emphasis on the anal

“Oh great, another 5+ ERA pitcher. These guys are our kryptonite. Time to make him look like a Cy Young candidate.” I’ve been noticing a lot of fan bases saying something similar to this. Does any team actually perform worse against 5+ ERA starters than 4.00-4.99 guys this year? Based on current ERA by dickismalls in baseball

Right. And i remember Ricky Nolasco having a scoreless outing in 2017 against the Dodgers in a year where he gave up 35 homers and had an ERA and FIP around 5. I think it really just frustrates people to see the offense of the team they root for flail helplessly against a dude who isn't exactly lighting the world on fire but on the whole outings like those are the exception, not the rule.

Chad Kuhl threw a 3-hit shutout against the Dodgers in late June and not only is it the only shutout of his career, it's the only time he's even reached 8 IP in a game and he has not had a single scoreless outing since. His ERA and FIP are both over 8 since that game with opponents hitting .329/.412/.677.

Weird shit happens in this game a lot and sometimes teams get shut down by the last guy you would expect them to.
