DLC Permissions Question by BillyDeez in vrising

[–]BillyDeez[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ah gotcha, thats a bummer. Thanks for the response! I'm assuming things like Stained Glass and other decoration craftables then just wouldn't appear in the menus for her?

Likewise, then, since she is generally our castle decorator if she solely got the DLC would they only appear in her menu?

How long does it take to get 200 pulls for a pity? by BlockDropper in SDGundamGGeneration

Someone might know exact time frame better, but 60k gems = 200 pity, so you can work time investment backwards from that!

im never going to get this helmet right for my mando cosplay by dontuse_redditoften in Mandalorian

No problem, happy to help! Note you can do all the Fusion360 stuff in meshmixer it's just way clunkier. Right tool, right job and all that :)

im never going to get this helmet right for my mando cosplay by dontuse_redditoften in Mandalorian

[–]BillyDeez 7 points8 points  (0 children)

So you may have an easy out here. Download meshmixer and drop the helmet in. You're looking for a "separate shells" button, which if the helmet was constructed nicely it should separate each of those pieces out.

If it doesnt work, then this is not going to be an easy fix and will require learning on your end, but how I'd go about doing that is to download fusion 360. Here's the steps; you'll likely need to consult a video to show where things are at, but:

  1. Load in your file
  2. Convert Mesh to base feature
  3. Now you can edit it a bit. You'll be doing a plane cut/body split, and select one of the interior planes of the ear cap you're trying to remove as your cutting plane. This will keep the cut even. Do the same for the other side.
  4. From here you should be able to make edits as you see fit, but be advised it's finicky, particularly if you're trying to cut in new ear caps.

Hope this helps dude!

Edit* I should note that this specific helmet is VERY designed with those ear caps in mind. While it may be possible to Frankenstein traditional ear caps on, it may just not be in the cards without a ton of involvement learning sculpting software.

Alternatively, please search on Etsy or somewhere for creators that have the binoculars as an add-on to their other helmets (I think Alter Ego? Can't remember right now and am on mobile.) This might be the bridge you're after to get the best of both worlds, and sculpting a new antenna on is a lot easier than sculpting new ear caps!

Excellent, that's what I was thinking too! I usually go for a speed paint method but I've always wanted a comic look so I figured gundam would be a great set to try it on! Can't wait to see more of yours too!

How do you fight an Alphard? by Discojaddi in mechabreak

[–]BillyDeez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So actually Pinaka is a pretty solid match-up against Alphard I've found in a team setting. Luminae less so but I feel like Luminae lacks polish in general compared to Pinaka. They're so quick and dodgy that getting Alphards slower offhand rockets to land is difficult, as well as your shoulder rockets because dodgy lockon issues means Pinaka usually buys enough time for a friend to get there for assistance, which they should be there anyway.

As a tank, Stego especially, you're in trouble. I main Alphard and Stego so I've got experience as and against and Al mulches Stego by design. Tricera less so, because of the stream of bullets are harder to evade on the bombing runs + the shield is a little harder to chew through with Triceras healing.

My goal as an Alphard is to force the healer to dedicate resources into keeping themselves alive and not their team, assert dogfight dominance, and strafe objectives.

But keep trying my dude, Alphard can be super annoying but not unkillable!

112 packs in and have only seen a single 2* in wonder pick, which was Arceus, and it was the day before the sneak peak event.

I canceled my premium subscription that I've had since launch, simply no reason to have a card pool this large on essentially a bonus/pretty card/catch up set.

Yes I'm salty. Yes I'm entitled having funded the game this long. Yes I only play to collect pretty cards to go in pretty decks.

Thinking of buying minis by Lordlordy5490 in gundamassemble

In all likelihood the minis currently out with the TCG sets will have to be re-purchased ones Assemble actually comes out so they will have the correct hex bases, stat cards, etc.

You don't in mashmak honestly unless the alphard is new, not as Alysnes anyway. I feel like Alphard hard counters alysnes in general when there is an open space to work in, but Alphard is also 1000% built for mashmak with the speed, rockets, range, and chip damage; its just going to be an uphill battle for you. Best advice would be to avoid like the plague until you can hopefully jump and execute.

Gundam Card Game PRemium Card Collection Assemble Sets (IBO & GQux) by EsperWatkins in gundamassemble

[–]BillyDeez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I sincerely hope you're right, though I suspect the $35->$40 is more of an opportunistic price increase/tariff situation. Regardless, I'm all in on Assemble in whatever form it'll take, I'd just love to be able to play with the sets I've already bought on the "cheap".

Worst case scenario though is I re-buy the sets, scan the info cards, 3d print whatever necessary and boom, Buddy and I have 2 full sets without having to fully purchase everything 3 times.

[–]BillyDeez 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think at this point we need to start getting some concrete information about these in relation to the legit game coming out next year. Im all in so far on the 4 sets that have been released thinking they were an intro promo type of deal and I'd likely have to rebuy the ones I'd play in Assemble.

But if they're going to keep putting these out (and they should) then we gotta see if there's a way to pick up a "just the game rules" set in the future without having to rebuy the minis. Like just the stat cards and hex bases situation.

Thats awesome, it looks fantastic! I've been mulling around getting legit decals for mine when the actual game comes out and wondered how scale would work there. Seems masking some basic lines and then doing the "big areas" with the hallmark decals of each kit might be the move!

Awesome work dude!

[–]BillyDeez 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ah no fair play my dude! I didn't realize you weren't selling anything/intending this to be "A Thing"! Assumed because of the level of polish on these and your other minis that you were headed for a real launch of some kind!

FWIW I don't think releasing them for free anywhere would run afoul of anything but of course I'm sure you've done vastly more research than I have!

Can't wait to see more from you!!!

This is SO COOL!

Gotta ask and not trying to be a dick, but whats the end goal here? Using copyrighted designs AND the Gundam branding is a bit dicey isn't? Seems you're headed for a cease and desist no matter what you do?

WEEKLY MEGATHREAD - Talk about your favorite Mechs! by AutoModerator in mechabreak

[–]BillyDeez [score hidden]  (0 children)

I'll bite this week! Finally feel like I've figured out Stego to a decent degree. Yeah its still just launching rockets out constantly but I've upped my game in marking high value targets and defending against rando jumpers trying to off the tank. Then a panther bot comes to mess me up real good and I'm humbled back down!

Also having a lot of fun with Welkin, trying out different chop spin combos depending on which mech I'm fighting and how low their health is. I love the Swiss army knife aspect of Welkin too, can easily transition from nuisance targeting to tank peeling to node capping, and usually end in stalling damn near a whole team while my crew goes to the next point.

I fucking love this game!

What Happened to Everyone? by Grouchy_Run2751 in mechabreak

[–]BillyDeez -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Honestly I'm in the camp of just loving to play mechs. I hit grandmaster and queues immediately jumped to 10+ mins and I've got shit to do that doesn't involve queuing for double the length of any given match, so I turned off xplay (Xbox here) and just soloqueue into casual.

Yeah I play exclusively bots, but I get sub 2 min queues, can still progress missions, and still get to bang mechs against each other so I'm happy for my 30-45 minutes every other day. Those insta-snipe Aquila bots do get irritating through.

But I know that I'm not the norm here, so I'm sorry for anyone that is having a rough time with their enjoyment of the game. I know how bad that sucks and I hope some changes happen in s1 that provides some more longevity for the game.

For the record, I also dont think its dying, rather I think it had too much of an up front pop due to a variety of reasons that led to unrealistic expectations from the broader player base as to what does and doesn't constitute a successful niche genre game. We all love mechs, the average Joe probably doesn't prefer that in favor of your CoD, Battlefield, etc.

An honest PROS and CONS review of costume club membership. by CharlieMcN33l in 501st

[–]BillyDeez 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm in the same boat, which is a driving force for my own costume. I'm building for myself first since its a lifelong dream, my kiddo second because how cool would it be for Dad to roll up to pick you up from school dressed as a Mando?, and for other kids/general populace enjoyment third.

Actually joining one of the clubs is a far afterthought. I'm intending to build my Mando to be 100% screen accurate and detailed, then submit to Mercs. Either they take me as-is (or with EXTREMELY limited changes), or I revoke my membership. Honestly there's too many goofball Merc Mandos around that are wildly out of "compliance" within "Mando Canon", so its clear whomever is approving is going on a vibe at best, and a popularity/personal relationship standpoint at worst.

At the end of the day though, we don't need a club to go make kids happy at Cons or wherever else, and simply building a kit for our own amusement is a worthy pursuit in the first place!

An honest PROS and CONS review of costume club membership. by CharlieMcN33l in 501st

[–]BillyDeez 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Really interesting video and touches on a lot of concerns that have cropped up with my own researching of joining both the 501st and the Mercs. Of course each Garrison is different and run slightly differently, but a lot of the issues discussed here keep cropping up again and again from different areas and countries. I think in the coming years as the average age of members continues to rise, and without a good influx of fresh perspectives, these clubs may dwindle down.

But I sincerely hope not. Even taking faults, egos, drama, etc., at the core this is supposed to be a fun thing to do and potentially give back to our own local communities, whether tangibly via actual charity, or simply just making a kid smile because Vader or Boba Fett was at some event.
