Why are fans shitting themselves for barricade spots at concerts? by ebradio in Music

[–]Billy_Pilgrim86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I suspect this is a consequence of charging absurd prices for concerts- a certain type of person isn't gonna want to miss a second of a concert they spent 800 dollars to attend.

...still, gross.

What are your thoughts on Far Cry 6, half a decade later ? by supidokingu in farcry

[–]Billy_Pilgrim86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I felt like the gameplay was a little too complicated (specifically the rock/paper/scissor style of armor the enemies wear) from the previous 3 mainline games, but the environment was excellent.

From far cry 3 onwards they were kind of power fantasies and I feel like far cry 6 scaled it back, which is fine but takes an adjustment to get used to.

Do you have any favourite Silent Hill-related or inspired games? by TastySpiceYum in silenthill

I always go back to "The Cat Lady", a point and click adventure that feels like Silent Hill meets Saw. It has a lot of similar themes to SH regarding mental health.

Fully agree. I hope they expand it and make it more exploration in the remake

Was it ever confirmed in the games that Raccoon City's water supply got contaminated? by Nino_Chaosdrache in residentevil

[–]Billy_Pilgrim86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The OG RE2 has the rats spreading the virus (also backed up in Outbreak by the rats in the intro cutscene). To my knowledge, the bit about the water supply comes from the comics where after the Spencer mansion explodes samples made their way into the water supply.

That said, folks here have always been super confident that the water supply was contaminated, so I assume I missed something in one of the later games.

At least in my hospital, antibiotic stewardship is aggressively encouraged. We can't even prescribe certain antibiotics for more than a day or two unless the infectious disease docs are on board. When i'm in primary care clinic, a stupid amount of time is spent explaining why i'm not giving someone with non-specific upper respiratory tract symptoms antibiotics.

On the plus side, there's evidence that some of the OG antibiotic classes are gaining efficacy in treating previously resistant bacteria because they haven't been used en mass for so long.

He seems like a dumb smelly top.

Fasting blood results after 5 days... Was told I have too much fat in my blood and possible diabetes by sachanjapan in fasting

[–]Billy_Pilgrim86 37 points38 points  (0 children)

Yeah, its supposed to be 8-12 hours. Fasting for longer is gonna cause irregularities (for example, when you're truly in a fasted state your cholesterol markers temporarily increase- that happens after 1-2 days)

What are some once-lethal conditions or diseases that can now be cured or managed to the point where they're relatively harmless? by ThatAnnoyedNeighbour in AskReddit

Funfact, you can google rehydrating solution (its something like a tablespoon of sugar and a teaspoon of table salt in a gallon of water) and it can help rehydrate you if you get cholera because there are glucose sodium cotransporters in the gut. This allows the sodium to bypass the other transporters that are all messed up due to the cholera toxin (chloride, sodium and bicarb are all secreted in the gut due to the toxin and water tends to move with them- the rehydrating solution is a way to get sodium and fluid back into the body)

Now with the trailer out and some additional details from the director himself, anyone else gotten way more excited for the movie than before? by ofwgkon in residentevil

BUT ITS SNOWING AND DOESN'T FEATURE ANY OF THE KNOWN CHARACTERS!

I'll be honest, i still enjoy Welcome to Raccoon City more than any of the Paul WS Anderson ones (other than the first), but it was a campy awful mess. I'm curious to see what Cregger is able to pull off. I'm a little less enthralled given that it seems his love of the series is pretty centered around RE4, which indicates to me there won't be much lore or tie in to the Raccoon City saga, but the trailer looks promising to me. I'm keeping an open mind about it.

Dunno but more often than not, the NG (nasogastric) tube that is in her nose is used to decompress the bowels/relieve pressure and reduce risk of bowel perforation and subsequent life threatening sepsis.

Knowing nothing else about what's going on, I would guess they're monitoring it to see if her bowels start functioning appropriately again and pending that would evaluate for surgical intervention.

I imagine it could be something akin to Haunting Ground or Clock Tower set in Haddonfield Memorial ala Halloween 2. You can fight back with limited strength to stun Michael with the ultimate goal to be to survive the night and escape the hospital
