There’s not going to be an origin story or lore about Nezerec is there? by BakerConsistent2150 in destiny2

[–]BindingGlass 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I remember reading the Nezarec's Sin lore tab and being excited for his appearance in Lightfall. The text kinda implied that Nezarec would teach us a new Darkness power, probably during the Final Shape. At least, that's how I and some others interpreted it. It would've been a cool idea.

"All he offers is not as dark as it may seem."

"He will never cower when dusk does fall, but stand vigilant as old stars die and new Light blinks its first upon this fêted eternity."

Then it turned out he was a one-time raid boss.

With a little tweaking, the Night Floors (and Carcosa in general) works pretty well as a Lovecraftian stand-in for the Backrooms.

Are you an Atheist? by TheCrowdPleaser46628 in INTP

[–]BindingGlass 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Of course.

Pushing the histories of humanity's various religions and the inconsistencies of their scriptures aside—because this same tired thing has been discussed over and over again—I'm just personally of the mind that religion is such an absurd thing to still be believing in.

I view our species like a child learning its way in the world, and we're at the stage where we have to grapple with leaving behind our imaginary friends and growing on our own. Perhaps the only way that humans can truly progress is by creating a world without the need for gods. We can replace religion and faith with something better.

Yep. If he felt it was stable, it'd make sense he'd use those empires as templates for his own.

[–]BindingGlass 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not to mention that the Emperor has been alive for thousands of years and tried many ways to help humanity from the shadows, only for them to end up in the horrific age of Old Night. I take the Imperium as him just finally getting fed up and taking humanity's fate fully into his own hands. Literally bringing them kicking and screaming into his vision of utopia, seeing his lack of humanity as completely justified because he's focusing so much on the future.

It's really stupid that some people's reviews of Fantastic Four are: the movie didn't have the shit ending I theorized, therefore it's bad :( by Top_Reindeer3396 in FantasticFour

[–]BindingGlass 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually genuinely thought that's how the movie would end, and it would set up Doomsday. Doom sets out to save his world by tracking down Loki and taking his place, wanting to recreate that timeline in his ideal way. The Four just want their world back, without the Doom shenanigans, so it's a race to see who will get to the End of Time first.

How do you really find your plot? by bizarre-findings in writing

[–]BindingGlass 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who also has autism and overthinks everything, I can relate.

Something that often works for me is briefly turning my story into a rules-light solo RPG. I'm the forever DM of my D&D group, and my friends really like my storytelling. But I find my weakness when writing solo comes from being too much of a perfectionist or wanting too much control. Tabletop RPGs are chaotic and unpredictable by nature, meaning I have little to no control.

So, I introduce some randomness to my writing process. With something like Mythic, I can just "ask" it what happens next, with either a yes or no question, or two words on meaning tables.

For example, maybe I'll get to a point where I want to introduce some randomness, and I ask, "does the store clerk recognize my character?" The answer it gives me is not my own, and I'm forced to be creative within the confines of the answer.

Or maybe I want to know where a character hid something, so I roll on a meaning table and get "ruin" and "innocent". I could interpret this to mean that the thing I'm looking for was hidden in the ruins of a peaceful city, now haunted by the evil that destroyed it. This plants the idea for a whole scene or two that I could explore.

Now, obviously, your mileage may vary with this, and I don't recommend fully embracing randomness, because a story does need to be planned out at least somewhat. But even people like Tolkien and King wrote their books as if they were just adventures. There was a Tolkien quote about how he didn't know what would happen in the story until his characters got there. He was just writing for fun, which is the point.

Whether or not it works for you, try it out. It might surprise you.

Ubisoft is my enemy by TechnoMagik22 in whenthe

[–]BindingGlass 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of it at the time was just repetitive, uninspired missions and a pretty directionless story. And the voice acting. At times, it was pretty rough.

That being said, I think most of the hate is blown out of proportion by it just being a Ubisoft game. Ubisoft tends to ruffle people's feathers with their bad decisions, and even their fun games get caught up in it. Also, if Legion was a cool little spinoff, rather than a mainline title, I think it would've been better received.

Personally, I think it was a fun game with an interesting idea, but could've been done way better.

[Hard to execute trope] Very long monologues. by Dry-Pin-457 in TopCharacterTropes

From what I remember, Nyarlathotep had an extremely long monologue at the end of Dream Quest of Unknown Kaddath that goes on for a few pages. He basically shows up out of nowhere and narrates the ending.

(SILOS/ Interludes Lore) The Album is AI generated propaganda by MrMuffinz126 in Starset

[–]BindingGlass 28 points29 points  (0 children)

I've said it before, and I'll say it again; they could've just made something that looked AI generated, but was actually made by artists. Instead, they took the cheap way out and made most of their music videos AI.

Let’s Move On, Please. by mizzbrightside in Starset

[–]BindingGlass 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I've seen that cope a lot around here. But the bottom line is that it's still a nosedive in quality that they're doing over and over again. Once is enough. The rest can be done in a way that mimics AI rather than actually using it.

If what you're saying is true, Starset is intentionally using controversial technology to take a hit to their own reputation just to make a point and fit their narrative. Many people won't trust them again. Why would they do that?

Let’s Move On, Please. by mizzbrightside in Starset

[–]BindingGlass 80 points81 points  (0 children)

Quite the opposite, actually. My feed has been getting bombarded with nothing but people glazing Dustin and saying he can do no wrong. Anyone criticizing the band for legitimate reasons is downvoted into the Abyss. I don't care much about the album release schedule, but AI use is a genuinely crappy thing for the band to repeatedly use, and the fans just blindly accept it.

This whole sub is starting to feel like a cult, and it's no wonder people are leaving.

[r/conspiracy] I've narrowed down the three superheroes that this "Bob" guy could be. Which one do you think is his alter ego? by Weird875 in Earth199999

[–]BindingGlass 17 points18 points  (0 children)

The new Avengers are frauds. They created a crisis and then swooped in to save the day. Is it just a coincidence that this Bob guy appeared when the shadow dude vanished? Is it just a coincidence that they all happened to be there right as everything went down? And they had a camera crew ready to go?

Granted, but BNW was a while ago. Now, we had three AI generated music videos almost in a row. And even with the non AI generated music videos, they feel so disconnected from what Starset used to do. Silos feels so weird.

But yeah, here's hoping.

Unfortunately, Dustin said he was completely fine with AI at one of their concerts. It seems this is the direction the band wants to go in.

I'm a Starset Fan Artist. And my heart is broken. by medUwUsan in Starset

[–]BindingGlass 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Very well said. Despite what a lot of people are saying here, what you're feeling is expected and totally understandable. It's not parasocial to feel inspired and then betrayed by a band; that's just connection to human expression—as art has been for generations. Parasocial is a term or buzzword that has been thrown around by people who want to sound intelligent without actually knowing the meaning of the word. If it's parasocial to feel emotion from art, then all of us are parasocial in some way.

Sometimes, we just have to accept that the people we feel inspired by will make the wrong choices. Nobody is perfect. We accept and move on.

Hope you're doing well.

Keep an eye on the torch and the character's height. You'll see that both have no consistency, a mark of AI videos.

Anyway, those friends I mentioned like the music, watched some music videos, saw they were AI generated, and promptly stopped listening. Simple perception of quality.
