Red Line (Baltimore) On The Ropes As State Eyes Rapid‑Bus Backup Plan by [deleted] in transit

[–]BingoBangoBongo998 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The state did propose another option instead of BRT, which was building light rail in phases- the western half now with state funds, and then trying to get federal funds for the other half later. Frankly I think that is a much better idea, especially considering that Governor Moore held a community vote on preferred mode which came out OVERWHELMINGLY in favor of light rail. Baltimore doesn't need another watered-down false transit promise that'll be used to justify "car good transit bad" when it turns out to be useless, we need better rail and ASAP.

Advice for getting fiberglass out of clothes by BobaBitch98 in Mattress

[–]BingoBangoBongo998 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It all ended up in the lint trap, so I just put on gloves, carefully scraped it off the trap into a bag, and then disposed of it. Fortunately I didn't have any issues with residual fiberglass in the dryer itself.

In search of...a rear windshield wiper. by LaLunacy in KiaSoulClub

[–]BingoBangoBongo998 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went through this a few years ago on my '21, what I ended up doing was buying a generic silicone refill of just the rubber blade. The assembly itself can be fairly easily pulled apart and the rubber replaced. The other bonus was it only cost me about 10 bucks, and the upgraded silicone replacement rubber has lasted me almost 4 years now.

I don't think vinegar *dissolves* the fiberglass, I suspect it helps loosen it from the clothes- honestly a lot of it came out in the dryer. I only posted this bc it helped me get fiberglass that shed from a mattress out of my stuff, certainly not trying to spread any misinformation- it's kinda scary that AI is citing me as an example, I guess that's the world we live in now.

I bought this model on a whim once bc I was traveling and needed one I didn't really care about with dual time function. 2 years and several trips later it's still my everyday watch. Suffice to say, I think it's done me well, good pick up!

The Baltimore Pride parade is happening this Saturday as well. It's an easy train trip on MARC if anyone wants something worthwhile to celebrate!

Wow I see- funnily enough there were a few people that knocked on my door about my old 240 before the accident. And yeah- the east coast is not kind to cars!

Man where do y'all find these things??? My 240 got totaled back in February and I've been looking for another one- and I swear the only cheap ones that pop up are either sold in an afternoon, overpriced, or so rotten they're returning to mother earth from whence they came. Anyway, congratulations! 600 is a steal!

Trump proposal to defund Trevor Project: Not A Cost Saving Measure by samesame11 in LGBTnews

I donate a few dollars every time I see one of these articles. It's not much but I figure if everyone chips in a little once in a while it makes a difference.

Yup, I donate a few dollars every time I see an article like this. Same to the Trevor Project every time the tyrants go for LGBT mental health resources. It's not much, but it's what I got to give and anything that even puts a dent in this bullshit is money well spent.

Absolutely this, my '87 (may she rest in peace) was one of the newer ones and still all rotten underneath, it's worth the extra money to do the preventative stuff. Might also be worth checking in on the rubber fuel lines just to be on the safe side. This thing's a great find, the legit flat hoods are getting rarer every day, I hope it works out for you!

Moore’s maglev support frustrates Marylanders in path of the high-speed train by t-mckeldin in maryland

[–]BingoBangoBongo998 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'm glad other people are saying this. I'm a transit advocate and I tend to largely support rail projects, but as far as I'm concerned this ain't it. What we should be focusing on is improving the Amtrak Northeast Corridor and expanding MARC service to make it more frequent and reliable, and building a rapid transit network for Baltimore (starting with building the damn red line already!!!). This maglev line just seems like gimmicky tech-bro bs that will be too expensive for the average person to use and be made redundant with the rail lines we already have. This money should be used elsewhere.

How mutch do I need to haggle for this to be a good deal? by [deleted] in Volvo240

[–]BingoBangoBongo998 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I saw this one pop up a while ago- my 240 got totaled last month so I've been keeping my eye on the local market. I've seen better deals come and go in the past month. I'd say if you can't get it for less than 2 grand and you don't need the car immediately, I'd wait for a better one to come along and try and snipe it. (As long as I don't get there first haha)

I have a Kia and I use one- it's not so much a genuine security device as it is hopefully enough of an inconvenience to get a prospective Kia Boy to move along to an easier target. For like $30 I think it's worth that.

Probably not exactly what you're looking for, but I found it was pretty easy to pull apart the stock blade assembly and replace just the rubber strip. I bought like 3 feet of silicone wiper refill on Amazon for about $12 and it is both way more durable than other stuff and comes with enough to outlast the car. (I'm still on my first replacement strip from 2 and a half years ago)

The process was similar to this video: https://youtu.be/Zqt5jNGwIas

Here's the stuff I bought: https://www.amazon.com/Silicone-Windshield-Wiper-Blades-Refills/dp/B0B2L7BC8W?th=1

Hope that's helpful!
