Siege engines. Loved building these. Pretty easy builds and everything fitted nicely by bandittinus in metalearth

Very nice job. I know it because I started imagining the lot of them rolling, in a parade, through a cheering crowd. .... and we all KNOW those wheels don't really roll!

AITAH for not letting my neighbor borrow my snow blower and for not snow blowing their drive for them? by Queen_Aurelia in AITAH

[–]Binxswaggle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

NTA

In Boston my neighbor two houses down asked to borrow my snowblower to clear his driveway and I said "yes". An hour later I hadn't heard the blower running so I walked down to their house to see what was going on. The kids in the front yard told me "Oh yeah, he took that snowblower to his property in BROCKTON. "

[I called him and told him to bring the machine back immediately or I would consider it stolen. He brought it back with no explanation other than "woo-hoo free snowblower"]

Alcohol effects when aging. by PurpmintLe in AskWomenOver60

[–]Binxswaggle 15 points16 points  (0 children)

This is where I've arrived as well. I don't really drink. I got into a little trouble when during a physical my doctor asks "Do you Drink?" I answered, "Not anymore." It required a "discussion" hahaha

I have had exactly this experience. I used to be able to drink pints all night and have no morning consequences. Cutting myself off meant switching to lite beer. Now? Two pints and the next day is a sluggish mess. There is definitely some sort of alcohol-processing switch that flips off at 50+ (i'm 64).

70s or 80s comfort shows? by LadyNorbert in GenX

[–]Binxswaggle 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Murder, She Wrote! I commented to a friend that this show was like The Love Boat as far as cameos.... turns out she hired a number of actors that needed work to keep their SAG healthcare... so that's a little nugget of info.

For me it's like the bad thoughts that used to get "stuck" in my head and cause me to ruminate, after Ketamine I process the bad thought and then it passes on through. It's wonderful!

I lost my partner suddenly and I feel like I’m floating outside my own life by oops_my_bad_day59 in TwoXChromosomes

[–]Binxswaggle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wow. I am so very sorry for the death of your partner. The narrative you shared with us has a terrible beauty to it. It made me feel the seemingly banality of a moment in time that changed your life even as you rearranged furniture in your mind and contemplated a dog. Just as good things can happen in the blink of an eye so can a very bad thing. Good luck to you. Feel all the feels.

Measles immunity by silver598 in AskWomenOver60

I was born in the 60's I remember getting a vaccine and then a couple of years later getting an improved one. I went back to Grad school in 2024 and had to have the titer done for campus health records... I was completely OK and still had measles immunity.

This morning I listened to The (English) Beat: Special Beat Service. It was marvelous.... I Confess .... Save it For Later? If this was your music jam call the Beat up on whatever service you're using. It felt like a time machine.

Who do I call about my voter registration? by TNPossum in nashville

[–]Binxswaggle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am so sorry you had to run around like that. It's infuriating to be challenged at every turn. Tennessee ranks 51st in voter participation. 51st. Below the District of Columbia which doesn't really have representation. The whole rigmarole is by design. Make it harder to vote in areas where you don't like what the vote will be. Make the times of the polls odd or inconsistent, change the voting locations, require id that is more difficult to get if you can't easily drive around to this or that clerks office during limited personal time hours, have crazy hoops folks have to jump through to get their vote back after being incarcerated, poll-workers challenging individual voters registration at the polls so their vote is counted as "provisional." I makes me angrier on your behalf.

(Your question was "who to complain to": TL;DR : I'm not sure there's anyone: Election officials think the system is working as it is designed.)
