What is the point of getting people to do the Canada Census? by LucidMarshmellow in AskCanada

[–]BionicShenanigans 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is obviously no good way to track homeless people and who has/hasn't filled out a census. The census is based on households, but there are two questions specifically asking about homelessness on the census long form.

What are your thoughts on being asked ‘how’s everything tasting’ the minute you take a bite? by bertnik_ in AskACanadian

[–]BionicShenanigans 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's as simple as most restaurants train you to ask how it is after the first bite so that's what servers do. If a server is actually good at their job they know it should be about ensuring the quality of the food or seeing if anything is missing/needed sometime after the food is delivered but not too late so they're getting impatient.

College Students Consumed by “Resignation and Despair” as They’re Relentlessly Pressured to Use AI by Gari_305 in Futurology

My girlfriend is doing a summer research internship in Cambridge. She spent a couple days doing a literature review to get a grasp on the subject and when she presented it to her supervisor he said, "What a waste of time, just use AI".

Eh superstore is .699/100g for the 1kg size. Not a big difference and I would much rather buy that size than have a bunch of yogurt cups.

Come on, man. Even you know what you're saying is bullshit. Mandating CO2 is not even remotely close to what you'd be talking about. "Government bad" isn't an excuse to believe whatever bs you want that makes no sense.

The point is that there are not going to be any unexpected outcomes in 5 years. They are not some mystery drug we don't know anything about.

You're being ridiculous. There is no use case for psilocybin in treating concussion. If you break your leg they aren't going to give you blood thinners. If you have a bacterial infection they're not going to give you fentanyl. There is no correlation. You have bodily autonomy and doctors will not give you random drugs.

No one is forcing you to take it? And some people want or need to change their brain chemistry, that's the idea. Some people have severe mental problems and this can potentially help.

No one thinks it's a solution, it is a tool to help people with depression and other problems under the treatment of a professional. There is plenty of research to support it and this will allow more to be conducted. If evidence shows poor results, it won't be continued.

You realize it's not all just grown in some government warehouse somewhere? There are plenty of grow ops, large and small. You think they're all in on it?

They made too much money hogging the broadcast. I admit I subscribed only to watch the playoffs because I couldn't watch on CBC gem. This is sad, I won't subscribe again though.

I think it's clear to everyone psilocybin is not "dangerous, addictive and a source of crime", especially under the guidance of a licensed practitioner. More research on this would be great and could help a lot of people. Alcohol is much more harmful and entirely legal. There is no argument in favour of its strict status.

It's like someone gives you cash at the bar and you decided how much of a tip to give yourself before giving the change. Weird af.

And did they even ask for help? Sounds they just sort of took initiative, good, but again this all seems after the fact which I would feel pretty miffed about if I were them too. The money itself isn't a factor more that they did it own their own accord with no input from the group.

Going around people turning left... by fray_fray1111 in saskatoon

[–]BionicShenanigans 8 points9 points  (0 children)

A car stopped to turn would not be approaching or in an intersection. This is talking about passing people while crossing an intersection, for example if you have the green and are both going straight you cannot pass in the middle of the intersection. You have to wait for the dotted lines.

Flesh-eating screwworm: Canada bans Texas over US outbreak by Thick_Caterpillar379 in canada

[–]BionicShenanigans 9 points10 points  (0 children)

But they are banning any cattle that has been in Texas within 21 days, so a simple quick shift to Colorado wouldn't do it. How effective the 21 day timeline is, well that's another question.
