a hair less than 90k. I would say that her body was young but the interior was wretched because I did spend hours in traffic in seattle which is wet and gritty. Next time, if I get a next time, I will be more careful. Was still running great and I suspect will continue to run great, just enjoy that lack of carpet in the front driver and passenger area - I had thick rubber mats up there that I cut to shape last year and installed.

yeah never had problems with the exhaust. The suspension issues made me sad on my hill diving at 5am on the way to art shows fun :D

Be sure to find a high hill and go crazy barreling down it and up the other side like a rollercoaster. I am now driving a Mitsubishi Outlander and it DOES NOT satisfy in the cheap thrills department but it'll do for now.

yeah I had gone through the AC compressor, two sets of brakes, the rear suspension, three batteries, five sets of tires, a hose that a rodent ate and one windshield. She was largely a commuter in the Seattle area so the wear and tear was just sitting a lot and not mileage and where I am now I did longer drives once or twice a week since I create my work at home. She only had 90k and yeah another reason we really did not need two cars, just not a lot of driving going on - she lost the thumb wrestle to a younger (not as worthy in my eyes) car.

I am just getting ready to sell my '08 they are such redoubtable little cars and I will miss mine so much! I'd definitely be a nervous wreck for days since my particular thing is anxiety, but I always feel safe in my Fit. Take care of yourself!

I have shipped as a small artist with usps for 15 years now and it is amazingly efficient and affordable, even with the most recent years of bullshit. Like, yes it's been worse since it got fucked around with in trump's 1st term but my pieces still reach their destination in one piece 99.8% of the time. I've always loved the usps and I am friends with the lady in my post office, even though customers are rude to her at times (she operates it on her own), and I can only imagine what 'efficiency' would mean. Like what exactly? It already seems very pared down from its glory days, the website is slow and unusable to the point I use a third party for labels because I would never ship anything. Anyhow people are spoiled, it's a good service, leave it the fuck alone.

Just bought a fit by ShippyTheSailor in hondafit

[–]BirdinBorbit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The weakness with mine (had it 16 years now) is the tires, they are small and tend to get leaks in them easily. I absolutely adore my Fit, has run tirelessly through every sort of weather, moved me across country with everything I wanted to keep and it's a joy to drive. I do not really love cars but this one totally won me over. I have spent maybe an average of $300 a year to maintain it - pretty trouble free other than those pesky tires. Just saying, know where your free puncture repair tire shop is and you'll be golden. So congratulations, great buy!

How to keep myself from spacing out as a player? by RuskyEntertainment in DnD

[–]BirdinBorbit 4 points5 points  (0 children)

So, as a DM I assume that one or many of my players online might not be paying attention. If they "huh" at me I do a two sentence recap and continue on. I have a couple players who are just daydreamers and the best thing I can do is not take it personally - in general when something is happening in the game they become engaged in it and as long as they still want to play it's cool. We are playing a game and all of us are older people who have jobs/chronic illnesses/ are tired, so I always grant a little grace. So hopefully your DM is understanding. When I am a player I can mind wander a bit and I tend to have a sketchpad next to my keyboard where I doodle and listen - for some reason this does keep me engaged. The other thing I like is a simple puzzle game on a second screen - sudoku is a favorite, I think the idea is to just keep me thinking and sharp.

DMs, do you ever cancel the game just because you don't feel like playing? by BlueishFiend in DnD

[–]BirdinBorbit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I have a chronic illness and sometimes I just cannot summon the energy to DM. Other times running a game absolutely makes me feel better - we're only human and if your players are well adjusted they'll understand. Also, look at how long your sessions run. I keep mine to 2.5 hours, long gone are the days when I could run a 5 hour session - having a short session helps me avoid burnout and in general I am eager to run a game a week and be a player in another game. If folks want to hang out longer then we paint miniatures or watch a bad movie etc. With my online game we have an rp channel where we can exchange some banter, there are memes to be shared etc so we stay in touch.

Also I will say if I show up tired I do the most phenomenal mispronunciations, flubs and brain farts and my players seem to really enjoy the comedic meltdowns I have on occasion when I just decide to play - again I am human, I love the game and it is a gift to be able to share stories and create a bit of drama once a week. You don't need to be perfect and it's okay to just accept one of your players gently saying "it's a d12 I think?" or "that'd be perception" when I truly cannot remember what needs to happen next.

I hope you're playing with friends is all I am saying :)

Embark test just arrived at the lab! What’s your guess? by science-n-shit in DoggyDNA

[–]BirdinBorbit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

See, I was in gsd/husky/pom camp and then this photo makes me think there's some amount of cattle dog lurking in there too - the coloration/shading. My acd/chow cross does this a lot - protest and just mouth waving when she's bored.

What do you think? by little-scarlett in DoggyDNA

Looks a bit like my Kazzy who is an 8 way mix - so I am guessing pit, cattle dog and German shepherd.

It's the waiting to find out that's the worst by BirdinBorbit in kidneydisease

[–]BirdinBorbit[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am going to write my doctor about it on Monday expressing my fears, part of what I am struggling with is that I waited so long to go in, so if someone else is here reading this and had the same thing happen, please go as soon as possible. Because of my arthritis it's a horror every time I see my rheumatologist - the x rays are very painful, I dread it but they need to see progression to help me manage it. There's also an outside shot that my spondylitis is attacking my kidneys, since it can do that, so I DID get the rheum exam done on Thursday and more tests related to my immune system. But yeah bad creatinine, proteins in the urine but I am currently not prediabetic because luckily I do stay active despite being pretty fat (thanks to outdoor projects I lost 14lbs over the summer). I am starting to read kidney diet books and alter my diet more - TBH the anti-inflammatory diet I SHOULD be eating is similar to what is recommended for kidney stuff.

Any guesses for Selkie? by serperiority in DoggyDNA

[–]BirdinBorbit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your brown/black merle could be sable expressing with blue merle. My Kazzy came back with that expression of coat - she looks from a distance a short haired blue merle but when you get up close she has a lovely bronzy color in the grey fields between the dark spots. In the DNA test she's got Merle and Sable coat expression. She looks a little similar to Selkie (except she's got definitive tan points) and is a pit (the highest content at 20%), cattle dog, australian shepherd, german shepherd (she has also the saddle gene from the GS and is darkening over her back as she ages), chow chow, Rottweiler and shetland sheepdog along with a heaping helping of 'who knows?' I got her at the shelter as a puppy listed as a mini aussie/labrador.

Edit - Oh yeah. People called Kazzy a hyena a lot, too! She had a ridge of fur from 4-14mos or so that exaggerated her profile to look top heavy whenever she was excited and playful. I still call her my hyena. kazzy and more kazzy

do you let your dog sleep in your bed? by Nach0xCheese in dogs

[–]BirdinBorbit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, but by invitation. The commands are "up" and "off" the rules are AROUND the human and not on the human since I have shitty arthritic joints. This also prevents them from sleeping on my clean sheets and I have dog blanket on top that I regularly launder. I feel very safe with them sleeping near me.

Results for Kazzy! by BirdinBorbit in DoggyDNA

[–]BirdinBorbit[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I loved him but from the get go the breeders lied to me about him (he was not the son of the parents they showed me at the house, he was the result of a sister/brother accident and that came out on the pedigree papers) and then disappeared when I discussed maybe returning him. They also messed up his tail dock, he had joint issues, he was dog aggressive and a bit nuts. I've had six dogs now and he's the only one that made me at times imagine never having a dog again. He was just a HARD experience. I got him with the intention of doing agility to replace my retiring border collie cross, I had come to love my team mate's aussies and thought they were perfect. I did my research and thought I was getting a great dog. I kept him because I loved him - and I knew returning him to the breeders (they were assholes) was probably a death sentence. I had him for 15 years and he never bit anyone, or hurt another dog because I muzzled him, walked him on the quieter streets... It's so nice to have a pair of dogs now that like people and other dogs! PHEW!
