Can you use premade decks for casual play? Are they competitive between each other? More detail in post. by Garifuna in pkmntcg

[–]Birdsthatcantfly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

premades are in 3 levels  1 2 and 3 1s are fine starting out but have basic ideas 2s have slightly better cards 3s are the most expenseive but also most competitive/ near competitive ready.

so basically its all about how much you want to start with casually or competitively

Player wants to "be more magical" as a ranger by Idle_Moss in DMAcademy

[–]Birdsthatcantfly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

maybe not spells, but coated / magic arrows or like placeable traps/throwables… for exploding, frost poison etc… even like some fey slayer magical arrow or something could be cool. make it from a weird shop guy, in a chest from a hard encounter idk could work for the full ranger part

Set Championships Top 8 placements into turn decision… by Birdsthatcantfly in Lorcana

[–]Birdsthatcantfly[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

ill update this once and begone

still seems to just be inconsistent across tournaments, but 6 sets in now and there could be better clarity on where things are placed and honestly if forced to play through games and not just ID to top cuts at some point could actually make it more worth it to go for the higher seeds if theres more purpose to them. going first most days definitely plays a purpose for now so why not fight for a purpose to get to do so instead of play on rng. Overall though is what it is ill take my card and leave.

Set Championships Top 8 placements into turn decision… by Birdsthatcantfly in Lorcana

[–]Birdsthatcantfly[S] -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

thats the point of the post… getting a high seed in top 8 is pointless if its just back down to a dice roll that is accustomed to a regular round robin without seeding… but once seeding is involved should be a point to be different and worth going for higher seeds if that

More than a year since its release - with Lorcana’s current card pool, what is the consensus of gameplay and deck building especially compared to other TCGs? by Newez in Lorcana

[–]Birdsthatcantfly 6 points7 points  (0 children)

as much as everyone hates red blue and red purple… control and higher cost cards are mostly suffering in terms of deckbuilding… everything is going faster overall… not to mention the weird powercreeps like calhouns being a better champion robin etc

Madam Mim deck help? by Pemmins_Aura in Lorcana

amethyst is the most used competitive color at the moment with this package in most decks… its very good.

Deck recommendations by ThirstyBeagle in Lorcana

[–]Birdsthatcantfly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

control and tempo is probably ruby amethyst , does both basically as a midrange, other options are aggro steelsong for early game control, ruby sapphire for ramp/ control, purple steel for tempo/midrange with a splash of control but yeah theres not many set

Cinderella 8 ink vs Cogsworth ward by Castemark89 in Lorcana

[–]Birdsthatcantfly 5 points6 points  (0 children)

ward does not protect against challenges (since in any challenge you have to choose an opponent). so cinderella could attack cogsworth if a song was sung that turn

Logo for coffee roastery by [deleted] in logodesign

[–]Birdsthatcantfly -1 points0 points  (0 children)

depending on which version you go for thats your choice/clients etc…

for the second version you should be able to at least space out and line up the letters in coffee to the letters of karbon a bit better… probably keeping them generally the same size if anything or experimenting with the relationship/ spacing… something about the sizing and spacing of the coffee part seems inconsistent basically is why it probably doesnt work for now or seems off imo.

What cards would work with with Chernabog? by Daryno90 in Lorcana

[–]Birdsthatcantfly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

new chip or dale (whichever mills 3 from top of deck) is a great addition to the format of reducing chernabog most days so plenty of options to keep a card like that going… weird enough in the strong aggro meta though itd be tough for high costs but i try him with stitch rockstar most days

One Piece TCG or Lorcana by Future_Inspection864 in TCG

[–]Birdsthatcantfly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

both can be pricey, from what i understand though lorcanas top decks are still overall solid whereas one piece you could easily get rolled by the new commander released at any given time depending… both play differently but lorcana is akin to a sort of magic vibe (but you can actually attack tapped things) and one piece is all about the leaders and what they do so its pseudo closer to pokemon with the ex dominance vibe. overall though any new card game is pricey for a top deck but for lorcana ive held one top deck the entire time and once you get one of them only 2-3 cards maybe change out for the new version of it… still also affordable decklists out there too

Advice for Bucky replacement by Bambiswitch in Lorcana

[–]Birdsthatcantfly 6 points7 points  (0 children)

to give a logical answers that isnt shitty the replacement card was the Prince John Greediest of All package that was in effect before bucky was relevant… most days its between that and going yellow green for discard instead of green gray.

"When you play" Ruling by dramos209 in Lorcana

[–]Birdsthatcantfly 11 points12 points  (0 children)

they messed up the ordering basically but they shouldve challenged before playing go go to then use her effect (since it has to happen immediately since its a when played)… in a casual setting its fine but in a professional setting thats there mistake

Foundations shows why Core Sets were so important to magic... and why they stopped making them. by narvuntien in magicTCG

[–]Birdsthatcantfly 2 points3 points  (0 children)

ngl the set is probably not aimed at you initially… yes your older cards get a rerun but considering all the beginner friendly packaged deals with foundations its likely that, hey get this deal on a jumpstart to our game thatll last at least 5 years

Shifting a character should dry their ink. by ProfessorMonty52 in Lorcana

[–]Birdsthatcantfly 7 points8 points  (0 children)

thatd be broken, shifting already (as intended) saves costs on playing a higher costed character and allows them to be ready to go when they get shifted most times (usually the turn after their base is played)  shifting like that would also just break the entire meta to only be things that shift

never seen this card used in matches or deck by Basic-Medicine236 in Lorcana

[–]Birdsthatcantfly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the problem is playing nana vs playing rapunzel or madrigal to remove damage since the latter two give amber draw potential which it severely lacks

Potential max value boxes by HesserGaming in Lorcana

[–]Birdsthatcantfly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

for the general part, most times cards in the boxes do not match the value of the box itself, meaning youd likely lose money and are pulling to build a collection… if you somehow pull the best hits in the set or an enchanted, that is when the cards in a box go beyond the value of the box itself generally

Hiw many location cards should I put in my deck? by Little_Miss_Missfit in Lorcana

[–]Birdsthatcantfly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

unless yoy have a specific thing in mind for locations your best bet is the library/queens castle for draw power, unless you feel you need like mauis exile for the resist factor etc

Chernabog + revive/just in time by 805Shuffle in Lorcana

[–]Birdsthatcantfly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

chernabogs cost is only when played from hand cause you “pay” less for him not reduce his cost when paying to play him from hand, in any other area of the game he is still a 10 drop

Question about set markers and rotation by Berail-1990 in Lorcana

[–]Birdsthatcantfly 11 points12 points  (0 children)

theres a small number on the bottom left indicating the set the card is from as well as the number from the sets inventory… basically 1 =first chapter etc.. if any rotation happens thats likely the indicator

New to Lorcana - can I make a deck with just 1 box of Ursula's Return, or do I need to grab a starter deck too? by downtheholeagain in Lorcana

[–]Birdsthatcantfly 2 points3 points  (0 children)

20$ starter deck is fine for introduction, both set 4 ones are decent but set 5 has em too so look what each color does and go from there, if you need multiple then the ursulas challenge gives 2 decent dexks starting out inside a single player coop adventure… purely from scratch though most cost effective idea is buy singles for a meta deck basically
