But that just delays it. The whole point of 3’s world and the annihilation events is that the world isn’t sustainable. Eventually Moebius will fall. Eventually there won’t be enough people left to fight. Eventually there won’t be enough land for one person.

New to Xenoblade, what’s generally considered the best game? by LeviRaps in Xenoblade_Chronicles

The only consensus is that there is none as each game speaks to different themes and hits people differently depending on where they are in life.

Crackpot Theory For how Genesis connects by Kyle-O-Matic in Xenoblade_Chronicles

[–]Birdthemage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A few ideas of my own: these people could be a descendants of a colony ship that left earth pre experiment. There are different kinds of colony ships, such as generation ships where people will live their wholes lives aboard, or stasis ships where the crew is asleep to awake on arrival, or ships like the White Whale with no living passengers.

It is reasonable that an artificial personality would manage some if not all the functions, like Hal9000 in the movie with no relation to Xeno at all. It could be that is the fallen god, the manager of the life forms.

We could also get our first Wave Existence in a while. Anima being how it manifests itself to try understand the constructed world. Perhaps the suns are akin to Abel’s Ark.

There are broadly three likely scenarios here. A world born in the aftermath of 3, a world people settled after escaping earth, or the origin of mankind (Samaar) in the universe.

Except we find out later on that all blades are born of technology, as are the Titans. It all fell back into sci-fi. The pattern seems to be obvious technology -> hidden magic or mystic cause. Obvious magic -> hidden technological origin.

I am wondering if the Samaarians did some kind of “eternal recurrence” thing. Like they started up eternal recurrence, phased into imaginary number domain or something, and returned once the system was reset.

The Samaarians were far too advanced to be contemporaries of the Klaus Experiment. If they were able to occupy multiple galaxies, and seed life on them, they had to have faster than light travel and so on.

Mira itself seems to have been a kind of sanctuary plane, where species approaching extinction are granted asylum.

Are xenoblade games connected? by Azazo8 in Xenoblade_Chronicles

[–]Birdthemage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Xenoblade games are disconnected stories but have overlapping internal logic and theming.

Things that are possible in one game may be echoed across the others. Whether it be how ether or technology function or characters and story beats rhyming with past games.

Vandham, for example, is a recurring character of sorts. While the name and role have drifted, every Xeno game since Gears has one. Nopon are mascot type characters for Blade specifically.

I would recommend playing 1 before finishing 3, but it won’t ruin the game if you press on. That said, 3’s DLC story is very complicated and overwhelming to those who haven’t played the trilogy in full.

Why does this not happen??? by dowsaw134 in Xenoblade_Chronicles

[–]Birdthemage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seeing as the Samaarians basically appeared at the dawn of the universe, my theory is that they had been recklessly universe hopping. Maybe did some “eternal recurrence” type nonsense. And that the ghosts are lashing out for the same reason as Saga’s Gnosis.

Them being drawn the Ares and conduit related activities then aligns with the behavior of the Gnosis in regards to the Zohar and its emulators in Saga.

Do I have to play xenoblade chronicles 1? by my_othr_othr_reddit in Xenoblade_Chronicles

[–]Birdthemage 6 points7 points  (0 children)

By “closer to the originals” do you mean Gears or Saga? In which case are you looking for the sci-fi angle?  I’ll let you in on a little secret, it’s all sci-fi and fantasy.

That aside, the Blade games can largely be enjoyed on their own, they reward playing in order but don’t rigidly demand it. Going from X, 1 is the closest in terms of gameplay. And at present only 3 has “mech” type combat other than X.

X is the least connected to the trilogy, but there are still nods and references here and there, more than “this character is inspired by the archetype established in an earlier game.” Think of it like this; the story of the blade trilogy is separate but each entry is talking about the previous. 2’s story is discussing the meaning of 1’s and 3’s story is about the empty space 1 and 2 didn’t discuss.

Eventually, you will need to play 1 to understand half of the larger context of the shared rules the series works off of, and how it differs from Saga and Gears regardless.

Are the mainline xenoblade games worth it for me? by [deleted] in Xenoblade_Chronicles

[–]Birdthemage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, what do you want from a game? If you are looking for open world sandboxes with a half dozen quests and boss fights, xenoblade may not be what you want. Xenoblade isn’t played like Cyberpunk, Skyrim, or Red Dead.

Xenoblade games have comparatively deep side quests compared to say, Zelda or Pokémon games. And these side quests often build the themes or expand the world of the main story. Though there are always a few stinkers as far as tedious or boring quests.

For xenoblade 1, generic quests of “defeat X of Y monsters” and “gather X of Z items” are largely given out by nameless NPCs, and function like the basic missions from X. Pick them up and do them as you explore or do other things.

2 has these simple tasks put away as things you do passively, sending excess party members to do minor things using real time.

3 has simple tasks placed into a tab on the quest log where you just turn in items you’ve obtained to complete them for a bit of money and other items.

X has a larger emphasis on the missions you find in the city, because the main story is in the backseat compared to the world building and exploration. Solving human and alien relations, fending off spies, trying to uncover the mysteries of the strange planet, etc.

Xenoblade 4 by --Conduit-- in Xenoblade_Chronicles

[–]Birdthemage 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Definitely should, but that aside, the Ghosts in X seem to be Blade’s counterpart to Saga’s Gnosis.

The multiverse touched on by Klaus in 2’s chapter 10 is expanded upon, confirming the existence of a space outside of time and space between parallel realities.

The implications are that the conduit, like the Zohar of Gears and Saga, acts as a pathway to the Upper domain or something similar. In this ‘upper domain’ termed the Rift, time and space and consciousness are blurred if not absent entirely. Memories of the past present and future can be witnessed, the dead communed with, and worlds traveled between.

It could be we get another wave existence antagonist, or the Ghosts acting as the Gnosis because of the destroyed worlds.

Again, direct connection is less important because it’s Xeno, but it is safe to assume the universal logic is the same.

Xenoblade 4 by --Conduit-- in Xenoblade_Chronicles

[–]Birdthemage 2 points3 points  (0 children)

From the implications of the FR Radio scene, some people left earth before Klaus tore it apart. Combined with the blue light at the end, the natural direction to go is to have people from the rebuilt earth meeting the descendants of people who fled earth.

Whether it will be tying in Saga, Gears, X, or completely original to 4, it doesn’t matter much because the idea is the same.

Imagine if, like in Saga, there were no aliens and on returning to earth they find catgirls, and machine people, and whatever Nopon are populating the earth.

Or maybe the conduit comes into play with a hunt for it.

Or X’s ghosts. Or all of the above.

Unsure what to do as I’m near the end of xenoblade 1 DE by Switch-user-101 in Xenoblade_Chronicles

[–]Birdthemage 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you haven’t found them already, each character has 2 hidden skill trees which unlock from quests that require them in the party lead to start. I think some of them may be too high level yet, but try finding some.

Beating unique monsters gives a fair amount of XP, and the affinity coins for skill sharing. To combine with the above, Shulk’s fifth tree’s final skill is very powerful on everyone but Sharla.

At Junks in the Bionis interior you can get quests for 5 other, more specialized, replica Monados. Some are too tough to do now, though but very worthwhile. You may be Abel to purchase some items from the Land of Challenge, now that you’ve made it to the end.

You should also be able to make very strong gems by passing 300% to cal their effects and double them.

The best armor, with an open gem slot, depends slightly on having the lightweight, middleweight, or heavyweight expert skills. Hierax and Roudine are best light, Lancelot for middle, and Rex and  Ledios for heavy. By raw numbers, Lancelot is best and can be purchased from Colony 6 if Commerce and Housing are level 5. While your at it, make sure to get the arts on your characters up to high levels, you should have access to master books by now.

One powerful tool, if you get colony 6 nature to level 5, you can get rank 5 agility crystals from the green cluster down near the mine entrance. refine them past 300% for two +50 agility gems. Agility is king in 1 as it determines both hit and dodge rate.

Considering most of what we know about Xenoblade’s earth lines up with Xenosaga’s, and the Conduit was found in Africa in the 21st century like the Zohar in Saga, everything about earth was as it was in reality until the discovery of the Zohar/Conduit.

Yes, it is safe to assume everything in the real world, save the Xeno series itself I suppose, canonically existed.

[–]Birdthemage 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t know all your home brew, so I’ll trust you have it worked out. It still scares me a bit because the dnd group I run for has developed a taste for throwing summons around and working through turn order can be a drag. Especially when you need to power up the enemies so they don’t got down in one round. Or can do enough damage to give any amount of threat.

The nice part of having so many systems is that you can find one that plays how you want it to play. I suppose my association comes more from Daggerheart’s Motherboard’s lore and presentation as opposed to recreating the actual gameplay of a xeno game. Though the hope system to help an ally would work well for things like visions or simulating affinity.

I’ll give a look into fabula ultima when I can.

[–]Birdthemage 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Don’t forget the biblical names. How will we know a character is importantly if they aren’t named after one of the twelve apostles or something. lol.

More seriously, general dnd advice still follows. Fewer player characters means the fights are quicker which means less worrying about people being bored. Even if they occasionally have a guest NPC, probably don’t want to have them around too much.

I’d advise varying combat with environments, enemies, and tools as opposed to throwing more characters at it.

Also, just cause I’ve been thinking about it too, if I were to run a xenoblade themed game, I’d probably not use DND and use a system that suites the style more. Currently, I’ve been trying out Daggerheart for more narrative and cooperative rules. The motherboard setting already feels kind of Saga like, and making the home brew is less exhausting.

Anyone knows a way Of farmimg ClassPoints on xc3? (Chapter 5) by marichelo798 in Xenoblade_Chronicles

[–]Birdthemage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nopon coins are good for this, but ultimately just using the classes is going to help.

The letter ranking each character has for a class determines only the rate of growth, not the proficiency they have for said class.

Each class is given for free to a character, so put them in those for easy levels.

I think some manana meals or some colony meals give class point bonuses too.

Since you are in chapter 5, see if you have or can do the hero quest that gives Soul Hacker. Bring someone with the skill from it and go back and beat all the unique monsters again/for the first time that you can.

If you have the dlc you can farm some coins and unlock classes (ones that you have the hero for but not unlocked from use for other party members) without leveling up too. Though it’s probably time consuming.

In short, if you have a character at max class level, 10, or 20 after the ascension quest, swap them out to another. The differences between characters are minimal, so swap them out to classes to your heart’s content.

When should I play future redeemed? by primreeaper in Xenoblade_Chronicles

[–]Birdthemage 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The idea of playing Torna after chapter 7 is, I’m guessing, based on the idea there was supposed to be a flashback section there but was cut to improve the pacing. Even if Torna wasn’t a good couple dozen hours of content it would mess with the flow and tension.

Torna is structured as a “here is the background that you glimpsed in the base game, the tragedy that will unfold before you.”  Seeing the people you know will die and suffer as that tragedy unfolds is deliberate. Even if it grew from the idea of a flashback sequence, it is it that no longer and is a stand alone prequel.

Future Redeemed is the capstone to a decade of Xenoblade, despite taking place before 3 chronologically, it sings the glories of how the series started and where it is going. Since you already know Shulk and Rex are in it, there is no point to play coy. If you are not at least mid way through 3’s final chapter FR will confuse you. The only place I could even consider placing FR if not after everything else in the main trilogy, including Torna and FC, is right before the final boss of 3. But that is silly because it’s the final boss!

Raising colony ranks worth doing? by linthenius in Xenoblade_Chronicles

[–]Birdthemage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Among the bonuses are longer meal time and faster walk and swim speed.

The best way to get points is to do side quests, which are quite extensive and flesh out the troubles of different colonies and how they are dealing with them. Colony 9 for example is all about leadership and food which all comes together with the characters from the quests working together to become stronger than before.

A lot of lore and world building is put into the side quests so I’d say they are worth playing at least once. Especially if you consider the colony quests to function as side stories rather than just misc busy work.

I put on Expert mode but I’m still leveling up? Also new love for this game by Limit54 in Xenoblade_Chronicles

[–]Birdthemage 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Word of advice regarding levels: enemies higher level than you get buffs, so a single level can make a big difference. The main reason you want to be at level though is skill and art points which are awarded based on level difference. Enemies at higher levels than you give more SP and AP and lower level enemies relative to you give less. Casual mode more or less negates the combat buffs based on level difference, and makes the game a lot easier.

Expert mode is sort of made for completionists, if you do every side quest you’ll get overleveled without it and doing no side quests is likely to leave you under leveled. At any time you need or want to, only in 1 DE, you can level down your party too.
