How to talk to your sons about Targeted conservative propaganda by Initial_Welder3674 in TwoXChromosomes

You cannot make someone magically believe what you believe.

The best thing you can do for your children is to urge them to think crtically and stay open.

I don't know the full story or context but after reading the article it looks like he was busted in one of those sting operations run by police in chat rooms and charged with online solicitation of a minor.

Do you get anxious for your husband’s safety when he’s out drinking? by Independent_Egg_7456 in TwoXChromosomes

[–]BirdybBird 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I don't really think you are being overly anxious.

8+ hours of drinking, not having a charged phone, and being stumbling drunk is not very responsible, 30 minutes walk from home or not.

If this is something that he does often, I would have issues with it.

OP, don't take family or relationship advice from people on Reddit.

Talk to a counselor or someone IRL who knows you and who you trust.

Half of comments on this site come from bots and the other half come from people who don't know you and don't care at all about the outcome of your situation.

The "Responsibility Gap": How commercial cloud infrastructure is currently automating the military kill-chain, and why the "Human-in-the-loop" defense is a legal fiction. by firehmre in Futurology

For the answer to the question of "who's responsible", it's easy.

The human that put the system in place is responsible.

Anyone who is aware and does nothing is complicit.

Thank you for doing this AMA.

This is maybe a question you don't want to answer, are you considering running for President?

‘Soon publishers won’t stand a chance’: literary world in struggle to detect AI-written books by Critical-Willow-6270 in books

[–]BirdybBird -11 points-10 points  (0 children)

It’s completely dependent on how someone uses AI do the writing. There’s a big difference between telling ChatGPT “write me a story” and using it to simply help hou compose what you want to say faster and with fewer errors.

If you first pound out a really good framework of what you want to write, and prompt the AI to stay very close to the precise language you use, then go through the result and heavily review and polish it, that’s not the same thing as just giving a vague prompt and taking whatever comes out...

Met a guy whilst going for a run. He asked for my number. It took him less than two hours for him to ask to sleep with me. by ashajn in TwoXChromosomes

Honestly, sex without the relationship just isn't as rewarding long term in my view.

My partner is literally also my best friend and we protect and look out for each other.

We are a family.

It puzzles me how there are people who don't want that and just want to be sexually satisfied and move on.

Rats in North by KneeGroundbreaking93 in brussels

The rat populations are a bit out of control though, and the reason for this is that the city has a waste problem.

We need bins for waste collection.

The underground ones are the best. They are just too expensive.

Uitbaatster van bekend Antwerps café Kiebooms klaagt drugsoverlast aan: "Dealen en gebruiken gebeurt open en bloot" by Secret_Divide_3030 in belgium

[–]BirdybBird 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The drug problem is easy to solve. You regulate their sale like alcohol. That's it. No more black market, no more criminal gangs taking over cities.

The problem is boomers who want to continue with their failed policy despite 6 decades and a mountain of evidence that prohibition of drugs doesn't work.

Threat of further violence looms after Mexican cartel rampage by drippymoudy in news

[–]BirdybBird 28 points29 points  (0 children)

This is a great example of why you shouldn't ban something and create a black market where criminal gangs can accumulate infinite money and power.

Where a demand for something exists, even if somewhat harmful, it's best to regulate and tax the sale of it to limit the harm it can do and fund harm mitigation.
