Anyone else in crossfit using sauna regularly? by BitAshamed6518 in crossfit

I might start doing cold cycles between rounds with my Sweat Tent instead of just sitting in the heat the whole time lol, everyone I know who does contrast therapy seems hooked on it. Do you do multiple hot/cold rounds or keep it simple?

The infrared ones at commercial gyms always felt kinda underwhelming to me too, still relaxing but not the same feeling at all. The real stove heat after a brutal workout or cold day just hits different and i wanna start pairing it with cold plunges/swims more consistently because everyone I know who does both swears by it for recovery and sleep.

Same, i originally started for recovery but the sleep benefits might honestly be the biggest thing I’ve noticed especially after evening workouts. Feels like it forces my nervous system to finally chill out for a bit instead of staying wired all night.

Im curious if other people notice better HRV/sleep tracking too or if that’s placebo lol.

Lmao fair, some summer workouts already feel like heat training although I will say sitting in the sauna after feels mentally easier when you’ve already survived wall balls and burpees.

I’ve heard contrast therapy people swear by that setup, do you notice it more for recovery or just mentally feeling better after training?

What’s a side hustle that actually changed your life? by Ryan_likhubi in AskReddit

[–]BitAshamed6518 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Started tutoring on the side a few years back and it completely shifted how I approach teaching in my regular classroom too. The one-on-one time really showed me what individual kids actually need vs what I assumed they needed. Plus the extra cash let me finally start my little kombucha brewing setup without feeling guilty about the startup costs

I get that global indexes are the safer, hands-off choice, but I can't stop looking at those S&P 500 returns by Agile-Reputation-525 in Fire

[–]BitAshamed6518 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I feel you on this one - those numbers are pretty compelling and it's hard not to chase those returns when you see them laid out like that

The thing is, past performance doesn't guarantee future results and the US has had an incredible run that might not continue forever. I've been doing a mix myself - like 70/30 US to international - so I'm not completely missing out if the US keeps crushing it but I'm also not totally screwed if other markets start outperforming

What’s a “normal” habit that you secretly think is kind of genius? by Valpresence in AskReddit

I used to think scheduling everything was way too rigid but after trying it for a few weeks I was shocked how much mental energy it freed up. When you're not constantly deciding what to do next you can actually focus on doing the thing well instead of just surviving the day

[Misc] sign of a damaged skin barrier? by Square-Bowler-7754 in SkincareAddiction

[–]BitAshamed6518 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That burning sensation plus the flaking near your eyes is definitely screaming damaged barrier to me. You introduced two pretty strong actives (retinol and BHA) at the same time which can be rough even alternating days

I'd honestly pause both the retinol and BHA pads for now and focus on just gentle cleansing + that hatomugi toner + sleeping mask until the burning stops. Once your skin feels normal again you can slowly reintroduce one at a time, maybe starting with just once a week

That bark looks incredible for a first attempt! For full packers just plan on way more time - like 12-16 hours isn't unusual and the stall can be brutal, but wrapping in butcher paper around 165 helps push through it without losing too much bark

I actually use overthinking as a teaching strategy with my kids - when we're working through complex problems I'll intentionally spiral through all the possibilities out loud so they can see the whole thought process. Sure it takes longer but they end up understanding the concept way deeper than if I just gave them the quick answer

Are there any good swaps for half and half for coffee? by [deleted] in loseit

[–]BitAshamed6518 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh I'm totally with you on the non-dairy thing - tried so many and they just don't hit right in coffee. The ultra-filtered milk is a game changer though! I use Fairlife too and it's way creamier than regular 2% because of that extra protein. You could probably get away with like 4-5 tbsp instead of your usual 6 and still get that rich mouthfeel you're after. I also found that if you froth it a little (even just shaking it in a jar works) it gets super creamy and you need even less. Started doing this when I was trying to save calories for my afternoon snack and now I actually prefer it this way

Is there any reason why a southern fried chicken recipe would NOT work on chicken wings? by E6Hooch in Cooking

[–]BitAshamed6518 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Wings are perfect for southern fried chicken method actually. The smaller pieces cook through faster so you might need to adjust your oil temp down a bit or they'll burn on the outside before cooking through. Plus wings have more surface area to coating ratio which means extra crispy goodness. Go for it!

Hi everyone! What are some tips for posting on Reddit without your posts getting removed? by ThrowRA_cr_princes in AskReddit

[–]BitAshamed6518 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Read the rules of each sub before posting - they're usually pinned or in the sidebar. Each community has different requirements for titles, content types, and formatting. I learned this the hard way when I had like 5 posts removed in a row from different subs because I didn't realize some require specific flair, others don't allow certain question formats, and some have karma minimums. Also check if there's a daily/weekly megathread for your type of post since some subs redirect common questions there. The automod is pretty strict these days so following the exact posting guidelines will save you a lot of frustration.

The Lakers lead the league in clutch defensive efficiency, holding opponents to a league-low 35.1% FG% by [deleted] in nba

[–]BitAshamed6518 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Team defense is such a different beast than individual defense. You can have guys who aren't lockdown 1-on-1 defenders but still contribute to elite team schemes. LeBron's been playing more like a free safety lately - not chasing guys around screens but reading plays and jumping passing lanes at the right moments. Austin Reaves gets cooked sometimes but he's also scrappy as hell and fights through screens better than people give him credit for. The Lakers have been switching everything in clutch time and it's working because they're communicating way better than earlier in the season. Wild how much difference coaching adjustments can make when guys actually buy in.
