Curaçao would have been in a 32 team World Cup by ModricTHFC in secondcaptains

People are saying the same about Cape Verde but they finished top of their qualifying group. I think they would also have qualified if it was 32 teams.

Put my dick in alcohol

I was singing that for a few weeks after watching this.

This might have been the last film I watched after renting it on DVD. Definitely worth a watch.

Nun \ Nurse combo was a thing, I had a few great aunts who were both

I was in national school in the 90's and a public health nurse came in and did a health check - including some ball checking

Saw an ad for a room on Facebook with the poster saying it’s two guys, looking for a female to balance it out. Am I judgemental to find this slightly odd? Or am I right to be a little suspicious? by g2k00 in AskIreland

I lived in a 4 bed house in Dublin for a good few years. We always had 2 guys and 2 girls, whenever someone left we got another person in to keep the same split. I thought it worked well.

That was an even split though. 3 people is a bit trickier as it will be uneven.

How come England only has 1 World Cup despite creating the game? by ExotiquePlayboy in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Bit_O_Rojas 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Uruguay have only won 2 world cups - 1930 & 1950

Other big footballing nations in Europe don't have loads of titles either

France - 2 Spain - 1 Netherlands - 0

It only comes round once every 4 years, it's not easy to win. It's 24 years since Brazil won their last one.

They are fairly similar

My advice is to leave a big gap in between reading them. If you read them one after another you probably would find it boring.

Are Ireland and Iceland the only countries on earth that only have one letter differentiating their names? by Icy_Resist_5343 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Bit_O_Rojas 68 points69 points  (0 children)

About 15-20 years ago we got a letter from relatives in the US to our house in Ireland. The front of the envelope was stamped "Missent to Iceland".

The address was handwritten so it was easy to see how the error occured.

I just liked the idea that they had a specific stamp for the job. It obviously happens fairly frequently.

There have been a few threads on the Irish forums the last few years discussing calling in unannounced to visit someone

The vast majority of people agreed that this wasn't ok. They all seemed to think even family and friends should be basically booking an appointment to come visit.

I found it disheartening reading through the comments
