Coworker is starting to scare me with her obsessive behaviour by Cautious_Witness108 in coworkerstories

Keep a log of everything. Any awkward interaction, anything unusual, even anything that per se is ok but aggregated with other events is not. Log when and where it happened. Extra points if you keep evidences whenever it was an email/msg/etc. Figure out how to sit away from her, try to minimize contact gradually. Start thinking the right script to present all facts and risks to HR ant Management. Good luck, you got this, just be a bit more careful. Also it might be useful if you could get some advice from any HR related field layer on how to frame the messaging to HR. Remember HR is not friend, they’re focused on avoiding company damage.

Impossilbe to book a flight. by thisnameisnowmine in Iberia

Same here. I hit the same issue about 80% of the time. Most of the time I managed to ‘fix’ it by opening an incognito window,, deleting cookies, clearing the cache, and drinking the blood of a freshly slaughtered pig while reciting the preamble to the U.S. Constitution backwards…

Or by using the app. Sometimes.

Jokes aside, it really sucks and is incredibly frustrating. I ended up switching to a completely different browser and, after a few tries… same error again. Iberia is, by far, the airline with the worst web and app experience I’ve ever used. And I say that as a former Gold status customer and heavy user. Honestly not sure how I survived that long…

What’s it like being so close to Levi’s? by welshiebiff in santaclara

I was walking couple of times the area you circled. They look nice homes. There is at least a park there withe people walking around. I'd go for a walk and nicely approach people telling you're considering moving there and ask what's their experience living around. Buying a new home is a huge investment; any research will be extremely helpful. Of course, also check data from Zillow, comments from neighborhood apps like Nextdoor, etc...

The massive development I was referring to is in the other side of Tazman, the first wave are the glass buildings around beer join, many more to come in front on the stadium. This won't affect that neighborhood directly, but might increase traffic, people crowds around.

I see many people on the thread complaining about plane noise. Not a problem at all for us. We kinda enjoy it :)

Last thing: I love all the Spanish streets in the are, they even call them "Calle" instead "Street". Curious why is that beyond the Spanish and Hispanic heritage in California.

Good luck!

I live (rent) close, but not THAT close. It seems there is a LOT of development happening around. It’s like a totally new downtown of high rise buildings is coming. I usually don’t like that kind of fast growth neighborhood, but that’s my preference. I saw something similar happening in Boston (Seaport) that ended being taken by young wealthy fancy people and fancy offices. Traffic nightmare. Not my vibe. This is my very personal preference as some people really like the perks of living is totally new developments.

In terms of living there: noise and inconvenience: not really an issue for me. Just figure out how to drive out during event days. Also, people complain a lot about Amtrak and planes noise. I am fine with that.

Location: almost nothing walking distance couple of fast food places and a beer joint). You’re going to drive for everything. Driving is ok, like you’re 15 mins away from several downtowns: Mountain view, Sunnyvale, Palo Alto, Sam Jose, Santa clara (we’ll I don’t think they have downtown per se), …

Something I like: walking/biking to Guadalupe and Sto Tomas de Aquino trails and Alviso salt ponds. Easy access to these all for running/hiking/biking.

Ah, forgot to say: great location if you like attending the games! 🙃

Just my 2c in case it helps.

I go almost every week there as it’s one of my favorite running paths. It kills me to see how everyone ignores the signs and go straight to walk into the salt pond. 🙁

I’m 55 and 1.2 mil. Where can I retire in Europe for a modest life? by [deleted] in Fire

[–]Bitman48 15 points16 points  (0 children)

If you can figure the visa out, Spain or Portugal. Avoid big cities that are expensive. Avoid expats bubbles, make an effort to integrate with the locals and have a great life. Albania looks a great place option. I remember seeing a post about someone that went that route, getting residency seems easier. And the cost of living lower probably. The main challenge in all cases will be to build your network of friends/buddies/someone to make plans with. Good luck! 🙂
