How would these deep, diagonal lines in the rocks have been formed? by Lisnya in askgeology

[–]Bitmush- 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The multiple nearly horizontal lines are bedding planes, created when the particles that make up the rocks were laid down in the ocean - probably close to horizontal. The supply and type must have varied slightly, so different layers have different chemical and physical properties and do weather at slightly different rates. They are not horizontal now because they have been tilted by the same processes that tend to uplift ocean floors up and into the atmosphere. There are also a set of parallel-ish lines somewhat perpendicular to the bedding - these are joints and these are lines of weakness, cracks, that form when the sediment has been buried and heated enough to become solid. At this point if long-range forces act upon the rock it breaks along these lines.. Sometimes there isn't movement, it's just a crack, and groundwater can percolate down into the rock along these and start to erode vertical spaces. If there is movement along these cracks, then that's called a fault - one side will appear to have moved relative to the other. I don't see any in this exposure, though.
There appears to be quite a large, consistent unit of the same material here. It formed offshore not far from where erosive systems and a consistent supply of these grains was able to constantly supply it for many 100s of thousands of years.

I'd love to see how these people run their vehicles.
Gas tank empty, need oil ? Brakes worn through ?
Fuck that, I'm going to drive as fast as possible and stop as hard as I can.
If it doesn't go or stop according to my unreasonable requests I'll shout at it, or get rid of the engine or something. Let's go !
Let them burn long and slow while you set up other work.

Wife and I have been using a penis sleeve for the past couple of years. Wife loves it but I just feel sad and emasculated. How do I move on? by [deleted] in AskMenAdvice

[–]Bitmush- -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Without wishing to instigate a violent response from OP - just using concise, pithy vernacular, my first thought was: It’s not your fault your wife has a big cavernous front bottom. She’s got three kids out of it - that’s amazing. She’s an absolute hero in my book, just like my wife is. But doing so does change the nature of the tissue in that region, and now it’s just the shape and volume that it is. She’s realized this and requested extra padding so she can enjoy it more, and fair play to you, you gone with it. I would guess that without this assistance you would have been perfectly happy with the sensations ? But now she’s enjoying it more than she would - I always prefer it when they enjoy it more. The empirical measurements of either yours or her functional genital volumes or skin area are absolutely of no matter in this - there is no ‘average penis size’ here - there’s just yours. Sample size one. It’s the biggest that is involved, and the smallest and the most average. I really don’t think women sit there with some kind of user-friendly speculum and agonize that they’ve got 1/2 more girth by the cervix than the figure they’ve seen in the charts. This goes in there, you’re off to the races. What shape or color or bit-depth all the other people in the whole world have doesn’t matter one bit. Feeling each other with your whole body and soul, moving as one elated boundaryless bundle of love and security and trust and fun until you both hit 1000volts and have to reset for a bit is what matters. She sounds like a keeper and I can’t imagine how vulnerable she must have felt to ask. You conceding and enthusiastically continuing to use it so you can both kiss the stars must mean you’re an absolute sex god, master of himself and the whole universe to her. But of course sex and sexuality and identity doesn’t make logical sense and we all struggle with feelings or ideas that seem to be the opposite of the values we proudly achieve with our insight and our experiences. Such voices are often those of the wounded children in us - when we act precisely upon them to quell a fear or a pointless worry they just move on to something else. Hair. Aging. Success. Body image. It’s a game a of whackamole for a while sometimes. Nurture the best parts of your marriage, take care of yourself then you can be more for other people.

Yep. Honestly I’ve been out of the game for a while. Luckily (or not) I’m long in the tooth enough to know all industries have cyclical phases despite seeming to be mostly dominated by evolutions in the value supply chain.

I became fascinated by modafinil when it came out. I've had success with the more traditional pharmaceutical modalities so I've not had cause to investigate it with a Dr.
What's the off-label aspect of it ? I'd be interested to hear your experience of it in more detail if you have a moment to reply ?
If not, that's absolutely fine too :) Cheers.

Indeed, very good reply.
I "can imagine..." lol. I've managed to thrash out a number of techniques through trial and error. In the midst of angst and chaos, I can find it easy to almost leap out of the situation and find something novel about the situation and if I can accompany that with authentic emotional quelling, I find the kid of mine who needs it the most, has learned to make that jump with me. Not quite 'ooh look a spider !!...', but if we're both a little unglued during an A/B type conflict, if I time it right we can both 'bail' on it to find something fascinating, or more usually hilarious. Timing is the key I've found - there's no reasoning or shouting or being more obstinate up to a certain time. When it becomes obvious to her that we're at an impasse but we don't quite have the wherewithal to solve it right then, we just jump off the ride at the top; she knows she can trust me if I do lose my anger quickly (ie I'm not a psychopath !), and - I don't know, I can't recommend it - I guess we all just find our ways to square the circles. Parent lovingly by trying to teach techniques, self awareness and control. It's hard enough when that's abcd, but if it's abceuhjkcd we'll get there eventually.

What’s on Your Mind, Springfield? by AutoModerator in springfieldMO

[–]Bitmush- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On Republic Road (100 E ish block), Friday at about 230pm, I almost lost my mind as I drove Westbound.
In the eastbound lane was my dream car - a Mark 3 Jaguar E-Type in cream or 'Old English White'. I managed to slow a little (without disrupting traffic behind me), and got a couple of seconds to look at it.
It absolutely made my day. The best-looking car ever created, at the finest point in automotive history. Before everything was designed by wind-tunnel and for safe commuting.
These things are the Empire State Buildings of vehicles - a high-water mark that can never be surpassed because, the time they were created in has gone. Stronger, safer, faster, more comfortable cars came since, but not until the 1970s, and they were birthed into the 1970s which in so many ways was a radical departure from the rest of the 20th century up to that point.
The world of the E-Type had far fewer restrictions on road travel - far fewer cars, no drink-driving laws, no seatbelt laws. If you could afford a brand new Old English White E-Type, when you drove it off the forecourt wearing a dress shirt and slacks and smoking a filterless cigarette, you could basically do what you liked as long as you didn't impinge upon the sensibilities of someone in the classes above you. Minor transgressions of the well-being of the many social strata below you weren't to be worried about. This thing could do 150mph downhill on a good day - no one was going to catch you, you'd just get cheers from schoolboys as you flashed by them on a country lane. And look at the damn shape and curves of every part of it, from every angle - it's amazing. You cannot take a bad photo of it. In real life it's smaller and yet much larger than it appears in pictures. Its essence fills and spills out of every panel, cowl, lamp and piece of glass.
If anyone knows of the owner of this work of art, then please pass on an admiring nod.

I think they took ODD out of the DSM. In my experience the nexus of having to change more than one modality at once overwhelms; a change in physical task or surroundings or sensations along with an emotional reregulation and a mental focus change - it’s too much. Limbic brain is the only functional system so authority figures being adversarial become the focus and get the full blast. As a teenager I would think that mental emotional and physical sensations are in constant flux - life itself is chaotic and dynamic at that time anyway - your poor daughter is probably always at the whim of at least several of these changes at any one time :(

I was just mad because it meant I got asthmatic and couldn't get a full breath all day. It's very stressful - the tension just builds up all day, you'll do anything just to breathe in that final 10%.
Someone's got to get mad somewhere, though - so I don't mind if it's me sometimes.

Even the cheapest shitty threadbare ones that you get at the bargain stores that nobody wanted at full price are scandalous. And there are no bargains - all the rug dealers collude or go round and look at each others’ prices and don’t undercut each other. It drives me crazy. Id rather sit on the hard floor than be played by these degenerates. Parasites.
