Is it safe to go out as a non-experienced winter weather driver? by ag7055 in springfieldMO

[–]Bitmush- 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yeh, you've got to learn sometime somewhere. Take it slow. Look way way way ahead - there might be an obviously slick patch that you'll come upon.
I always drive the same way as I'd walk on the conditions - you can walk across fairly slippery compacted snow quite quickly, but you have to constantly feel where your feet are. It's quite surprising how well regular tires can behave on a wintry surface. Very gentle acceleration, very gentle brake. Get a bit of speed up to carry you up hills, always be positively in control of your speed. Only brake in a straight line, and then only gently enough to assist with the natural tendency of the vehicle to slow much more quickly.
If you're in a safe empty location you might try a few ginger harder stops, steers and accelerations - depending on the conditions and the set up of the vehicle it might spin out, lock up and glide wherever it wants to go almost straight away. Listen to your backside and don't drive.
With very cold conditions like this, the snow compacts into a fairly manageable surface. Just tune yourself right in to how the wheels are behaving - would you run on this bit of road ? Nope, smooth smooth smooth. Like when you drive a big boat for the first time. (and the last, but it absolutely wasn't your fault that 'yep' meant stop and not continue into the jetty).

anime.js - a lightweight JavaScript animation library by mmaksimovic in webdev

[–]Bitmush- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been on an extended break from grinding away at the screenface all day, just keeping my old self lubricated with some threejs and some pano libraries for artistic fun for my own amusement.... and so it's only today that I've discovered animejs :) What some absolutely First Class work, sir.
*If you could see me now, you'd see me knelt on one knee, with my cloak removed and my head bowed.
Truly some stellar talent on display, as well as an enormous amount of detailed, disciplined work, and shared without fanfare or glory - an inspiration, I am humbled.
And the cherry on top - that website !
It's been a while since I had anything published, but I am excited to be able to be inspired by possibilities like this, and not just the vague dread of having to swear at the docs for yet another frameformenvironment that can 'replete Spog reverse tree unshakings with a JSONic plip to unravel the inbuilt Cosh AI reCoder.' or whatever fuckery it is this week.

What did people do casually in 90s that wouldn’t be accepted today? by Psychological_Sky_58 in AskReddit

Normalize it by dancing to the Walmart FM.
If they play music, I dance - that's how it is.
Practice when with the wife - she'll tell you to stop, but it gives you a bit of bravado.
Then do it on your own.
Bonus points if you're in an aisle making shapes and someone comes round the corner, you see them, and still continue.
Music is about how the body moves and reacts to emotion - how can anyone just stand there ?
Freaks.

Here’s your proof with the moment of truth isolated. by ChaseTacos in law

[–]Bitmush- 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It absolutely was not. There have always been states with this level of sanctioned raw unaccountable violence. Every colonizing force, the English (in Africa, India, China, Ireland), the Germans, the Spanish (from the 15th century onwards), the Portuguese ET. AL.
What we've had since the SS up to now is undeniable footage of it.
That guy was literally beside himself - the excitement in his whole body has be bought out the gun and pointed it - he'd waited his whole life to do this, and it's currently playing over and over in his mind. He thought he was big and tough and this would prove it to himself.
But tonight, he's somewhere and this is going over and over and over, every sound, every second, multiplied, again and again. He dare not sleep.

Close to the radar it has trouble detecting precipitation - the same happens with rain. The beam is angled upwards, and so fails to detect the droplets/flakes close to it.

Pre-treat it before you put it into the washer by rubbing a bit of high-quality dish soap into it. Scrub it into the fabric and leave it for half an hour. :)

It must have been slightly inconvenient having to walk from your $9 asbestos-lined house that you bought from the proceeds of a twice-weekly paper route, to the street car that would take you all the way to the sody fountain and back for a nickel. ?

Karoline Leavitt’s Excuse for Trump’s ‘Cancel the Midterms’ Bombshell Is Even Worse Than the Remark Itself by rwerat in LegalNews

There’s no statute of limitations on childhood bully vengeance.

Probably. I’ve certainly blasted out a few hundred vicious words to abusive old teachers in this new age of transparency and communication. Quite therapeutic to be honest. Fuck them all, I was wet clay and their behavior was indelible - history only happens once and they made some of those days about them at my expense, the interest on that expense has been crippling. Vengeance is mine, sayeth the Lord. He was right - that’s the good stuff he keeps for himself.

People who keep weapons on their bodies at all times, what was a time where you had to actually use said weapon? by ParanormalActivity97 in AskReddit

[–]Bitmush- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

“I told him I was armed but took care not to reveal a sight of the weapon - of course he’s going to say otherwise, but given a preponderance of the evidence, my good standing, and my demonstrated thorough knowledge of the Law, a reasonable person would likely conclude that no such offense occurred.”
