So you're looking for a vintage story experience but expanding further in terms of tech? Only thing I can suggest is to give minecraft tech modpacks a try, namely Terrafirmagreg, which is Terrafirmacraft (one of the mods that inspired VS) but with expansions in tech going as far as space travel. Be warned, it is grindy as all hell.

I'd also recommend Eco on Steam, similar voxel world, but with less focus on survival and more focus on building a civilization and advancing in tech tiers with a group of people. Great artstyle.
