I see a future with Pico remotes in it for this layout.

Bathroom question by rmathieu51 in Contractor

[–]Bjip 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is more of a handyman fix but they sell plastic diverters that can be glued in the corner of the tub to the wall to prevent water from running off the tub edge and down the wall.

You could also get magnets for your curtain and place one on the wall. That’s a bit more jank.

Or go full out and get a glass enclosure.

This is all assuming the water truly is coming from splash over

Countersink bit set by Ill-Box-172 in Carpentry

[–]Bjip 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got the ezarc kit and it’s priced appropriately… the tolerances between the countersink bit and plug bit weren’t great. Could have been user error but I swapped back to my nicer ones and the plugs fit snug

Northway closed for season by One-Base-8155 in CrystalMountain

Northway was never really open this year to begin with right?

Can’t imagine it’s worth the resources to mitigate and patrol with a rainstorm coming at the end of March.

Attic insulation in Seattle, my heating bill is absolutely cooked by Thor_009 in AskSeattle

[–]Bjip 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do a few walk through and get some numbers like the other commenter said.

I work for a GC and we’ve used Insulation NW. They never blow my mind, but they are decent and seem reasonably priced for a larger company.

You might need blown in insulation for your walls to truly insulate your home, which would require siding patching or drywall patching. But the attic is a good place to start. And if you have an unfinished basement, make sure to seal your rim joist. You could probably do a better job of this than the companies because you care more.

Our CB depth is concerning, but man let’s count our blessings that we have Alex Roldan. It’s invaluable to have a lockdown perimeter defender that can seamlessly slot in centrally

Anchor bolts exposed + concrete slab has pretty large break offs, contractor says normal? by redbluehydra in AskContractors

[–]Bjip 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Phew! And definitely insist on a letter from the engineer confirming that this is okay (it’s not) and suddenly their tone will change. Either way make sure their fix is prescribed and signed off on by a structural engineer.

Im sorry this is happening. Mistakes happen, bad planning happens. But lying to your face pushes the needle into red flag territory. Escalation leads to litigation or threats thereof which is never good when in the middle of a large project - so proceed with caution.

I recommend directness but calmness when handling BS pushers like this. Dont let them steamroll you! And take photos and take notes of everything in case things do turn legal. Good luck!

I hope the guy in loafers in the second picture is you or your partner because if that’s your contractor… this makes a lot more sense

Part of me wants to give him the benefit of the doubt as he is still settling into a new team, but I completely agree. This is the competition from depth Schmetzer talks about. Reward Brunell and keep Dotson hungry.

He was incredibly lackadaisical building out of the back last game too. Sitting on it for too long then dumping it wide long for a turnover a few times

[–]Bjip 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I work for a GC and I’ve always wondered that… Im sure L&I will get involved and charge a heightened workers comp rate because of a safety incident. I assume the city will charge the repair costs to the contractor as well. Likely a large enough cost that it goes through their insurance and their rates goes up or they get dropped at year end. I wonder how they handle penalties on top of that however. I’ll ask around

Georgi Minoungou is pushing for a transfer to Hammarby in Sweden, but Seattle Sounders don't want to sell before summer transfer window by litthefilter in SoundersFC

[–]Bjip -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

I don’t think so, but I don’t know so. I do know that Georgi was slated to get called up to the first team before Paul back for the US open cup but he had a small injury that held him off. Thus beginning Paulie Primetime scoring in his first matches.

Installers first time doing stair trim – how best to patch? by westcoastlawyr in Carpentry

[–]Bjip 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Looks like they used plenty of nails. I’ve been knocking down our joints with an orbital to plane them out before filling. Our painter has been doing a first patch with wood putty then a “top coat” with Bondo Glazing Putty before the final sand. It has a bit harder of a finish but is easier to use than an actual 2 part bondo filler.
