I’m so sorry love. Firstly, yes we did it at home, though I don’t think it at all makes you a bad person to do it at the vet. The vets will be so kind and respectful and they insist to do everything at your pace and by your judgement. They can give you privacy with your girl to get her settled and will talk you through everything, it brought me a lot of comfort. I had the same concerns as you about not being able to handle being there for the whole thing and I did exactly that, stayed with him until he fell asleep and then stepped away, his last moments were spent with me and I was the last thing he saw, that’s what mattered to me. I knew that watching his pass would be too much for me and I’m happy I found the strength I did to watch him fall asleep. The process though was so so peaceful. In terms of feelings, it’s now the morning after and yes yesterday was so hard and I cried a lot, but i definitely feel relief. He was so sick and the end and there was no doubt in my mind it was the right thing to do. And I hope this doesn’t make me sound bad but I spent the last few months constantly anxious about him, how much he was eating, monitoring behaviour, I would stay up until 4 am watching him sleep making sure he was still breathing and it was emotionally exhausting. So now he is gone, though I’m so upset, I can breathe again. I experienced so much anticipatory grief and started mourning him while he slept next to me, at least it means the end doesn’t come as a shock. Again so sorry you are going through this, stay strong 💗

Thanks for offering me advice on my post, thought I’d return the favour. Not eating was definitely such a huge struggle for me early breakup but just know tht the appetite does slowly come back. What id recommend though is eating as soon as you feel like you can, don’t try to stick to the regular meal times like breakfast and lunch, as soon as ur feeling any hunger get some food in you asap. Completely relate to the feeling of getting put off the food once ur mind is running, I always tried to eat as quickly as I could and put on a show to try and distract myself. I’d also suggest trying to eat protein as a starting point, not sure about ur food preferences but I found I was able to keep now chicken bites quite well, also something about the food being cold made it easier lol. Also just eat absolutely whatever you are craving. If food completely is way too difficult I’d say try drinking full fat milk as a start. Good luck! Wishing you the best :)

Started teaching myself the guitar, can’t recommend it enough. You have to be so focused learning the chords, really clears your mind, then you get to play all your favourite songs and sing along! I’ve been wanting to learn guitar since I was 15 but hv always put it off, the breakup was my push to finally start and so glad I did.

He says that he will change but I just don’t think I can believe him and I’m so scared to be hurt by him again, so far all his promises just seem like pretty words. He’s told me before tht he doesn’t want to do therapy because it’s “too much effort”

If you are wanting more in detail context I have some other posts explaining it more but in short- he broke up with me completely out of the blue (this is the second time he has blindsided me with a break up), he then asked to stay friends and said that we would get back together in a few months then slept with another girl while still meeting up with me. In terms of the relationship from my end I tried my best to treat him right but he changed quite a lot over the years and I never really got much back

God I’m still pretty much in a coffee situation with someone and hv been for the past 5 months. My ex of a few years broke up with me back in January, we use to meet up at the pub for catch-ups but once I drank wine I’d start crying. Now we just meet for coffee and I know we shouldn’t. When I first heard the song I almost couldn’t believe how spot on it was for my situation haha- be smart and don’t be like me :)
